    There seem to be a lot of bugs and problems with sounds in Arma3 but now I'll shortly just mention some issues with the VOIP that came up when playing public PvP games with Tactical Battlefield modification but these issues rise from vanilla Arma3: 1. Setting VonCodecQuality to 11 or higher makes the 3D (positional) function of comms to not work http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=16789 Atm VonCodecQuality goes up to value 30 but servers can't use any value above 10 if they want to retain the positional effect of the voice comms. This affects of course Direct Channel but as well other channels which can be heard positionally near the person using the specific channel. All admins running PvP (well why not other modes as well) should know about this issue and not change the vonquality over 10 if they want to retain the 3D aspect of voice comms. Btw, setting the quality to 30 makes the players sound like chipmunks :) 2. VON/VOIP 3D broadcast attenuates too little over distance http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=16790 If a server has a working 3D comms (see 1.) the voice of other player attenuates (diminishes) too little over distance. Currently the values are roughly: Direct Communication can be heard to 80 meters with little attenuation. Other channels: 50 meters with little attenuation. In other words, enemies hear your voice way to easily and you rather not use any in-game voice comms when u suspect that enemy is within 100 meters. This just turns ppl to use 3rd party voice apps like TS/Mumble etc. For those interested; If VonCodecQuality is set to 11 or higher (aka breaking the 3dvoip) all channels can be heard to roughly 40 meters with 0 attenuation. As a TacBF fan I like the PvP action and voice comms are a big part of that mod and I would like to see these issues (at least 2.) looked at. I know many would say that screw the arma3 voice comms, just use ACRE etc. but atm that is not an option. What do you guys think about these issues and have you found any other issues with VON that should be reported to feedback.arma3.com?

    Have you tried the Arma3 version of the "PR", called Tactical Battlefield?
  12. I suggest that you separate the chevron-suggestion from the VON-suggestion and change the category in feedback.arma to VON. Just to keep things as simple as possible. This VON feature would be greatly needed in large scale PvP without turning into 3rd party comms.

  14. Yes! Voted up. A specific voice channel for a specific fire-team is what A3 is still lacking. This would become very handy in PvP, especially in Tactical Battlefield PvP Mod.

    There are few gamemodes/mods out there that lets you play organized public PvP gameplay without joining a unit/clan/team/etc... Check out Tactical-Battlefield-A-PvP-Modification It is pretty much like Project Reality in BF2 but only in Arma3 environment. Organized, squad oriented, tactical gameplay in public!

Check out the TacBF's Squad Management (SM) system that they implemented; - Dividing squad to fireteams - in the SM you see the current KIT of players - you can tag players - shacktacish radar - name and lock squads - kick or invite players to squad - lock vehicles to your squad - change squadleader on the run - inter-squad communication channels and requests for fire support etc... - etc...

    Does BIS have anyone even looking into VON issues? Feedback tracker has 9 tickets in VON category and not a single one of them is assigned, reviewed, acknowledged or resolved by BIS. If I would like to bring more attention to the VON issues, who should I try to contact from BIS to even take a look at these tickets?

    Ordered and gonna try this thing when I get the parts. Last year I tried PS3 webcam + facetrack and I could not get it to work satisfyingly.

  21. Tried this a bit as well. Squad Management is poor. 3rd person view is on. Friendlies have green/blue spots so u see them far away. And everyone has a minimap on. I would not call this an amazing PvP. FPS was indeed good. Have you guys tried Tactical-Battlefield-A-PvP-Modification? It is less arcade and more complex PvP modification.   22. I am fairly certain that the octagon will not see day light in TB (but what do I know). You have the squad radar there to help on this issue (which can be adjusted to show all friendly or just squad members). And you can also use the "show names" TB button. But nevertheless, PvP is confusing, almost always, especially in CQC, but you'll learn by playing. The team that is less confused usually wins. Dunno about the wind detection, I have yet not used it.

    Wasn't the DC affected by the Effect slider only. Anyway, so far if there has been a volume issue either with DC or other channels, it has always been mic/windows/arma volume settings problem. DC can be heard really well usually to the point that you don't want to use it if don't u want to reveal ur position within 80 meters as stated in this ticket: 2.     What do I need before going MP?

    Configure your VOIP keys before playing MP. As in, check Multiplayer section from Arma3's Control settings. You will most likely use Group and Direct channel the most so those might need a separate keys. And rest of the channels you can use thru the VON key and change the channel from the default channel-change-keys (check what those are). Also if you plan to use Teamspeak or Mumble, especially with the voice activation, then you have to bind Push to Mute in both programs to the keys that you use for voice comms in Arma3 itself so that those in your TS/mumble channel won't hear you voice in double. This is a bit tricky to do in TS but you'll find out from google how to do it. Mumble is pretty straight forward in this. If you want to try public PvP I recommend that you download and try Tactical Battlefield: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?169645-Tactical-Battlefield-A-PvP-Modification In TacBF you only have to bind 3 extra keys on top of the normal Arma3 keys but u can use the AI related keys for that cos in TB you don't need most of the vanilla Arma3's commanding keys at all.
