It affects all the throwable items like grenades, smoke, ... I was not going to release this since BIS is supposedly changing the grenade system, for the next millenium :P, but later I thought it could be interesting. Installation notes:By default the addon is configured to use the key G, which is the default one for throwing items in the game. If you changed the key mapping don't forget to check the config file and set up your configuration. Both keys, game and addon, must be the same!. Working features: Progressive throw force with realistic delays. Force and status indicator (by default deactivated, check the config file). Ability to cook (not potatos). Ability to cancel the throw. Real physic properties for each item. Mass, drag forces, ... Smoke shells are heavier than grenades, chemlights are very light but be aware as they are more affected by drag forces and wind. Increased the max. elevation from the default 60º up to 85º. Full 90º was very dangerous because without references it is almost impossible to aim. Environment simulation & non linear response curves. In prone position don't expect to put a grenade 30 meters away or if you are aiming upwards don't expect to reach the stars. Known issues: No animation yet. No stance deviation yet. Usage (for the default key): To throw: Press "G" and hold the time needed. You can hold the time you need because the throw will be effective once the key is released. It takes about 2 seconds to reach the maximum force. To cook: Press "G" and hold, without releasing the key, when you think the force is the needed click once the middle mouse button to start cooking, the force is now memorized and time passes, keep holding the key and release it when you want. To cancel: Only works if it is not cooked. Press "G" and hold, click once the secondary mouse button and release the key.
  2. Small update. I forgot that items can be switched with another key combination (Ctrl + G by default). The new version checks Ctrl, Shift and Alt keys to avoid conficts.

    I hope I'm wrong, but if we compare how A3 is being developed, the expansion will be less than Arrrowhead was for A2.
  6. Vanilla vs. tbbmalloc = +2/3 fps with tbbmalloc. Vanilla + tbbmalloc vs. Vanilla + tbbmalloc + large pages = -20 fps This time the tweak does not work for me :(
  7. Certainly it would be possible using scripting, but it's out of my interests and time, if that is what is you're asking for. Nothing special, just the new config patched.

    Lack of content in vanilla Arma 3

    It would take several minutes to explain and analyze, but the fastest way is to say that A2 has charisma. It has many things that makes it especial, maybe even many of them were not initially planned by the developers. The graphics, which currently are modern, the "older" A2 has something that gives a special feeling, a weird mix of seriousness and danger. A3 is just like any other game.

There is a folder called "scripts" inside the terrain editor main folder, but i'm not able to find anything related with scripts, or other customized ways of automation and methods in the program. Is there a way to make custom tools for visitor 4? Is something that has been excluded by BI for general use?.
  11. It is still in beta, even with DLC's, and seeing how it goes I'm not very confident about the expansion.

    Odd ARMA2/OA setup issue

    I'm having also similar problems. If I run A2OA directly from the exe or a shortcut WITHOUT the -mod parameter, everthing is ok. But when I use the -mod parameter, ACR and A2 content dissapears along with some error messages about missing files (logically). Currently I'm running it from a shortcut with the startup paramenters (nosplash, nologs, ...) and managing the mods inside the game, in the expansions menu. All related with the -mod parameter trashes the game.

    Arma 2 VS Arma 3! You chose!

    A3 definitely has better base, a lot of potential, and many technical improvements, but an extremely slow development, a predictably disappointing, expensive and short DLC's, the huge lack of content, too high dependence on mods for a decent game, and especially for me, the lack of the charisma that A2 has, has made me to lost the interest in the game. In short terms, for me A3 could be better than A2, but not for now.
  14. The new fatigue system makes the last units of the group get tired faster than the leader or more advanced units. Worse the farther of the group and in mountainous terrains. At the end you are waiting for the rest of the group, spreaded over a hundred of meters. Maybe it's due to the pathfinding and formation behaviors that force the units to do many corrections, not allowing them to rest the same as you.
  15. It is not about fatigue, the problem is the volume and even the type of sound. They are exaggerated, probably taken from a p0rn movie. By the way, after time without playing, WTF are those slo mo animations, and the ultra-fast ones? Why the Katiba shots are deviated to the right? Steam missions cannot be restored ... The version of the game should be decreasing, seriously.

    Nobody here has learned just looking the wiki, or you are in a team and you get direct advice from its members/friends, or you are peeking into other's work, or you lie. Period. The wiki can be only used as reference (if you are lucky, but that's another problem) and forums only can be used for very specific questions. Again and sorry, but it's pure hypocrisy. And the feeling you are transmitting is that your work is more important than other's, as it deserves to be protected in a community that has been working well until now, with quality and quantity, very affordable for begginers. I'm talking about scripting. I could agree with 3d models, as nobody wants to see their work pirated and being sold in a website, for example, but that's another level and currently there is already protection for 3d stuff in form of binarization. Following your thoughts the only apparent solution, equal for everyone, would be to to protect every single mod by default, not only yours, and then I guarantee you that mod production would decrease in the medium term. Is that what we want?.

    I would protect addons with starforce, terrains with securom, missions with fade and custom obfuscated code, and all packed in encrypted ebo's with several advices of the FBI, NSA and a personal letter from Snowden. And all because people who has learned looking into other's work wants now that nobody looks into their work. Oh the irony.

    The Nvidia DLC

    Voted no, and i use an Nvidia card which was 800€. Why? Because we are starting to want to pay for every single problem, fix or feature, apart for the product itself. I have no problem with HQ content, but for fixes no thanks. Next time will be if we want to pay for Mantle or DX12.
  19. I find it a very useful tool to manage mods and other stuff, but i'd like to suggest a more standarized, common, and simple UI. About performance it feels heavy, not a very fluid workflow. Maybe the UI?. Anyhow it is very useful. Thanks.

    Now I see what's your point and to be honest I agree with all, as another player who likes the simulation side and quality content. And well, A3 is ... A3, with karts. Sadly for us this is a dead end for now, even if we want to pay for more serious content, an higher maturity market. The only thing i want to add is that modding, campaigns, missions and such things should be also included on that elite/serious version, because not all people play MP. ;)

    Just a comment/sugestion about the DLC's, and yes, we are not forced to buy them now, blah blah blah, but it would be very kind of you if we could know the details about the content we've bought in advance. Content which is officialy announced and for sale now. I'm not asking info about the expansion 1 or expansion xxx, just the stuff I paid for.

    Don't forget that bipods are not weapon resting, just a part of it. For marksman DLC maybe they are going to implement bipods, like DayZ, but full weapon resting is another history. I'd wish to be wrong but I doubt that we will be able to use windows, rocks, ground (and not necessarily with bipods) or other items as support. Also, of course nothing is confirmed or denied, even if we have bought the DLC pack in advance, we own some vapor. My bet for the DLC is for an improved wind system, a couple or less of new sniper rifles for each side, 3-4 units with new camouflages, a few short and easy missions, or maybe a mini-campaign, also short and easy. About weapon resting, bipods as much.
  24. Is normal that a great percentage of shots to the ground don't make even a small dust cloud? I realized a few weeks ago, but cannot remember if this was so before.
  25. +1/2 fps with -enableHT :) Together with Fred's trick the improvement is quite noticeable. Also less stuttering. Thanks!
