BattlEye: make it work for the common gamer

I somewhat agree with you eddieck, however I guess it's too late for Arma 3 to move to something like that. :/ -
BattlEye: make it work for the common gamer
nik21 replied to mlewis1969's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
First of all, the "common gamer" is the player, not the server admin. And it works for the player. Also, the script filters you are talking about are optional. You don't have to use them, you can just leave BE on and don't do anything else. This way, you don't really have any protection of scripts being executed, however you still have the basic protection of BE itself. Also, it's not BE's job to provide fitlers for any mission or mod. Those are Admin features after all, and covering all of them is pretty much impossible anyway. The best solution is probably the mission creators supplying and updating filters together with their mission. -
[QUESTION] Will Beta release have BattlEye?
nik21 replied to SgtTrojan's topic in ARMA 3 - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Lol bullshit, no need to explain why... The game was left open due to modding and restricions, explained in some SITREP.. And how do you even want to know who's hacking on the server without BE? It also offers the tools to prevent the executing of such scripts in the first place... This post is so full of bullshit, I don't even know why I am replying. -
I actually did some research and found out that the PID is indeed linked to the key. Which means that you're still on the same key - my conclusion is that the changed GUID must be a misinterpretation on your side.
-
Object Detail is client side, Terrain detail is forced server side as you could simply turn it down in your settings -> no grass, advantage.
-
Nope. Someone else can use your CD-Key while you are not playing online.
-
AFAIK the player ID is NOT bound to the CD-Key/ GUID. Not sure though. Also, when launching the game via Steam, it should force/ revert the original key (correct privilegies required). As I said, as long as your current key is not used for cheating it won't be banned.
-
In case your key changed by running a keystealer... Keystealer's are mostly .exe's, you run them once, they send your key to a database/ email etc. and often replace your current key with another one. They will not install any processes or leave other traces, nor will they be detected by (most) anti-virus software. You might want to check your key in the registry and see if it matches with the one you bought (in the correct format ofc).

Your GUID doesen't change magicially. Someone or something has changed they hex key in the registry.

Battleye is here (Quick tutorial)
nik21 replied to terox's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
The BattlEye Client checks the memory of the client for hacks/ cheats etc. If it finds one (= violation), it will either kick or ban the violating client. The decision of what violation is kicked and what banned for is made by the BE Staff (aka $able). Let's say, cheat engine gets you kicked, private hacks get you globally banned. The Scripts.txt is server specific and will therefore only kick you from the server, it will not trigger or affect a global ban. Also, I wouldn't recommend using a Debugger on a BE enabled server. ;) -

Right, scripts.txt defines the checks on the client while these filters: https://github.com/DayZMod/Battleye-Filters are handled/ checked server-side. :) -
Every GUID is unique to the CD-Key. Different GUID, different key. As long as your current key/ GUID is not used for cheating, you won't be globally banned.

They are triggered by cheat detection on a BE enabled server. -
Really? Source? I thought they were like 15-30 ppl on the Arma 3 Team.

How is Bohemia Interactive addressing the Multiplayer cheats that are rampant?
nik21 replied to Motavar's topic in ARMA 3 - MULTIPLAYER
Shouldn't be more of a problem than in other Steam games, in fact it should be less as Arma 3 is not THAT popular and therefore not present on every other Steam account ;) In the beta, 1 Global Ban = 34,99€ + new Steam account... in the final version, 1 Global Ban = 44,99€ + new Steam account. Yeah, that's gonna hurt. ;) -
Bohemia, when you add jets please make them crash realistically :)

^ I agree. The black-textured vehicles with a fireball inside look worse than the damage model of BF 1942... -
Well, that wasn't BE's fault at all. It was mostly because of the insecure engine itself and even worse, the CD-Key theft in Arma 2 OA, which rendered bans quite ineffective.
-
Too bad you can't really administrate a server very well w/o battleye. ;) That doesen't really count for Arma as many anti-hacking and admin features are dependant on BattlEye. You might run into some cheaters in this game, it's engine is very trusting and allows script-based hacks such as killing the entire server at once etc. However, the Steam integration of Arma 3 will allow BattlEye to ban cheaters effectively from the game. ;)

Battle eye Supposedly thinks I've got a gamehack (error #34)

*cough* cheat engine... *cough* -
I guess the TO wants to point out the level of detail of vegatation and forests from "The Hunter" in comparison to Arma.

Please use the full spectrum of Steam
nik21 replied to scorcher24's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
Oh yeah, a "great tool" for server admins (the only option you have as a server admin is on or off). VAC does not offer ANY admin tools, on the other hand BattlEye offers a whole lot of them, e.g. Rcon administration, ping limit, Kick & Ban GUID, Custom Script detection etc etc... Not only that BattlEye is superior to VAC in any way regarding cheat detection, it also covers exploits and is very customized for Arma's scripting engine. BE detects all kinds of cheats, the ones you mentoined as well, mostly a lot faster and more efficient than other AC's - plus the customization in Regards to Arma's scripting stuff. Bullshit.---------- Post added at 17:13 ---------- Previous post was at 17:07 ---------- You can not spoof the BE GUID. The problem in Arma 2 OA is that cheaters are supplied with stolen CD-Keys at extremely low prices which reduces the effectiveness of BE bans drasticially. This problem is gone with Arma 3 + Steam, since the game is linked to the Steam account, a BE Ban does have THE SAME effect as a VAC ban (with the difference that a BE ban is not publicy displayed, that doesen't matter though). If a cheater is banned by BE in Arma 3, he has to re-buy Arma 3 on another Steam account in order to play again on BE-protected servers. Also, see above... -
Hit detection is client side afaik (which can also lead to quite some problems due to lag).
-
Anything in this direction would be better than the current "destroyed" and "not destroyed" textures imo..
-
Game is already losing people due to hackers.

Buy Iron Front armor penetration and implement in ArmA3
nik21 replied to mr burns's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
+1, an armor penetration system and vehicle damage model like in IF44 is what Arma 3 really needs.
