  1. Speaking of "I WANT DIS&DAT" problem, people always fail to realize that video games are not only that - it's a business (people make a living of it...) where if you don't act irrationally soon you'll be facing the consequences. Most of the features won't make it to A3 simply because, IMO, there must be some innovation left for the future expansions / installments. And of course, in the progress of A3's development, many things changes, many unexpected decisions are being made. That's natural.
  2. I've played Retaliation in OFP times and yes, it was great. Of course, CWR2 is about reliving the experience, but there's 2 original campaigns already for that purpose. So in order to get something fresh (unfortunately, without full voice-over, unless someone is willing to help me out...), I decided to work on a Soviet campaign. (too bad Retaliation devs didn't receive enough donations for a sequel.) Anyway - Soviet campaign I'm still working on will probably take place on 3 islands: Kolgujev, Nogova and Malden (still deciding whether to add 5 missions on Everon or not). What do you guys think about long (25-40+ missions) campaigns? I suppose very little of community are interested in them due to frequent lack of time.
  3. Hello there! As completely new Soviet campaign is getting closer to release, I decided to share some eye-candy. Well, making a believable base layout is tough and takes time to plan out everything. Enjoy the screens! Welcome to Hell! Coastal assault. Under attack! Newly-created base. Fortifications, fortifications! :D Island "Poterina". A shot made on the secret isle north-west of Kolgujev. Operation "Rabbit Hunt"! Base nearby Guba's residence. A USSR officers debate is to begin soon. I hope people will enjoy the variety of roles, full-scale war and interesting storyline. That's all for now. ;)
  4. Don't forget there's a Soviet-side campaign in the works, too. You get to control various character and to fully experience the war. In terms of quality, I worked hard on detailed environment, cutscenes (approx. 0.5h of them are present), mission/role variety and atmosphere. If you're looking for similar-to-CWC-quality-Soviet campaign, that's definitely it. Although I can't decide on the name... :D (Blood Brothers, etc.)

    Gambit Royale FDF Edition

Excellent campaign. I admire your efforts. A campaign without proper cutscenes is simply a bunch of missions (deceitful advertising, you know). I've managed to playthrough all 13 missions and it was really impressive. I don't know why, but at first I expected longer cutscenes. Also, I was looking forward to better explanation of the way all characters behave. In particular, their motives, methods, attitude on various things (this type of details does not require a voice-over I think). This is acceptable if you reasonably left some aspects unexplained for a sequel which will follow later on. Nevertheless, this is a fine work everyone should take as an example. :) Suggestions & feedback (story spoilers): As I probably mentioned, more details on characters is always welcome: information about their past, shocking moments in the lifetime, etc. I think these little details are worth consideration. Good luck expanding & improving this magnificent work, AZCoder! :)
  6. Overview: A conflict between two local gang occured in Bastam. The town is in ruins. Your squad is sent to eliminate all threat in the area. Lead your men to victory! Features: *extremely detailed war-like environment *room for various tactical decisions *briefing, overview No addons required. Only Arma 2: Combined Ops (it may work with A2: Op. Arrowhead (not tested)). Installation: Put mission file in your A2COdir/Missions folder and play. Download: Mediafire.com (All mirrors appreciated.) NOTE: This single mission is a part of an upcoming campaign, preliminary named 'All-out War'. It tells a story about a full-scale war in Takistan. Wrecks, ruined towns, highly fortificated bases, etc. The campaign concentrates on different perspectives of the same conflict: you get to play as a member of BAF, US Army, UNO, Takistani Army, the local gang, PMC and Special Forces. Storytelling is also important - approx. 30 minutes of cutscene material are in. Also, you'll deploy accros 15+ missions (14 of them are already done). All-out War is still WIP. Hopefully, it'll be released this month. I released this mission to show what's ahead. Any kind of feedback (especially constructive) is welcomed. Thanks for playing. Stay tuned.
  7. People somehow seem to forget that games are also business. Or at least one of the aspects of its nature. Say, the next iteration will have every single feature you can think of, will support this & that, etc. If that happens, what sort of innovation a dev can hope to bring further in the series? Without enough "firepower" that comes from new features the overall interest and, naturally, sales will go down. That's a malicious cycle until a franchise (not mentioning any in particular) dies. So, coming up with a rational distribution plan regarding new gameplay / engine features is a must. Anyway, this is great news. A Chernobyl-like desolated environment would be a perfect choice for DayZ environment. Grats to Dean and BIS! Time to rock the casual gaming industry! :D

    GSEP Miroslavl' Beta

I enjoyed exploring the main town and found several excellent spots for mission makers. Nice work on this baby! Now, I'm looking looking forward to the full release very much! Hope you'll remain enthusiastic about GSEP project. I'm sure it deserves more attention from the community.
  9. I wouldn't be so sure since "Everything's an object" is the famous motto of Ruby. Python shouldn't be underestimated. There are several aspects in video games in can handle very well, if integrated correctly - be it AI, UI, etc. As for my personal experience, it's really fun and fast to code. But that's mainly a function of a scripting-oriented language. Still, I like Python.
  10. Little, but useful. Thanks for this! AI enhancements are more than welcome. On the other hand, it'd be awesome to give AI an ability to fool player by "playing" death animation in certain circumstances. For example, a squad of 10 soldiers has been ambushed by hostiles, 8 members were killed in combat and the lucky two has no way to survive, except evading being killed by imitating getting killed. There's a lot of death animations to choose from, so any of them can be chosen randomly. Later on, when several or at least one of the attackers gets closer to the 'death actor', he suddenly stand up and tries to eliminate as many enemies as possible. I hope you get what I'm trying to tell. It's probably complicated to implement such a trick into the core of AI, but I think it's definitely worth a try. It'd be entertaining to see AI fool the player.

    Napf Island beta

It's always nice to see more fine playgrounds offered to us for free. Great work, momo! Here's a suggestion: next time you capture screenshots using camera.sqs, press L to remove the cursor - it makes pictures look bad. ;]
  12. Community, let me inform you that there is a new campaign in the works for CWR2. Basically, the campaign portrays the Cold War era conflict from Soviet perspective. Traditionally, it'll feature cut-scenes, mature storytelling, varied objectives and a bit of dynamics for replay-ability. Also, player will take control of several warfare roles - from an ordinary infantry grunt to experienced pilot, passionate tank-squad commander or strict infantry group leader. In total, if everything goes as planned, it'll include 20+ different missions. Almost 13 of them are already created - but testing is quite an issue. At this moment, that's all. P.S. I'll post some in-action screenshots later, if anyone's interested...

Army of the Czech Republic DLC

Passionate people produce extraordinary stuff. I'm sure ACR will be another DLC proof of that :).
  14. Regarding Mexico in particular, naturally, there should be at least 1 game development-related school. The more, the better, of course. Here's what Mr. Google found on a quick search: http://www.gamecareerguide.com/schools/237/eunoia_animation_school.php Making perfectly connected and extremely smooth animations for Arma 4 FTW! :D
  15. Much else: Winter Kolgujev - part of CWR2 Demo_3 mod content.
  16. As we still don't know precise conditions for getting into A3 Community Alpha, there's various paths BIS could take --- say, buying this brand-new expansion/DLC will give you access to A3CA. I'm not sure if this would be the worst possible case, but we can assume it's likely to happen... More like - direct incorporation of significantly increased A2 popularity ;)
  17. As promised by CD Project RED recently, an announcement of a new IP had to follow this evening... And here it is - a mature new RPG based on the pen and paper game Cyberpunk 2020. In short, the game's name is Cyberpunk. Personally I find the entire concept rather intriguing and can't wait for more news to come. It's good to see more developers going over the boundaries of current gaming industry and consequently developing great products which broaden consumer's POW, etc. I'm sure mature games can show their educational side and be quite useful, despite the entertainment factor. Here's a better read: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/05/30/cd-projekt-reds-new-sci-fi-game/ Opinions, expectations, anyone?

How dare you forget theoretically possible CWR3! :D

    Operation E3

Too bad booth's number was totally spoiled... It had to be 456 from the beginning, not some mere number like 457, damn it . Aside from that, awaiting new material for sure.
  20. Good-speed, McNools. Thanks for v1.1. I'll definitely include both of your great desert-type islands/terrains in my upcoming campaign which will take place in vanilla A2:CO desert terrains as well.
  21. Discussed and now uploaded. :) Truly one of the greatest cutscenes ever made for A2/OA/A2:CO. Love the idea and appreciate all the time that had to be sacrificed to make it a virtuality.
  22. raptor90: as for the matters of magic ...like Nazi UFO investigations in the area of WW2 Poland? Right on!
  23. That's true, but their capabilities might still not be enough to satisfy A(n)'s requirements for smooth gameplay because every time a new title is released PC hardware advances in parallell, too. Tons of questions and potential "NOs" rises when you think about the possibilities.
  24. Welcome to the thread of my first publicly released mission for A2:CO. While I'm currently making a couple of campaigns to be released until Arma 3 arrival, I spotted McNools 'Aliabad Region' island and decided that it's a perfect place for infantry combat and overall, ground operations. So here's the outcome of my passion for creating and finally releasing the first mission for you to try, community people ;]. SYNOPSIS: FEATURES: solid intro & outro; custom soundtracks; unique atmosphere on McNools Aliabad Region attention to environment detail: lots of wrecks, fortifications, hostile encampments included, etc. REQUIREMENTS: --- Arma 2 Combined Ops ( GET IT NOW! ) ; --- McNools Aliabad Region ( BIF thread ); --- MISSION DOWNLOAD: Mediafire; Armaholic; CHANGELOG: CREDITS: === Inlesco (me) - mission idea & all of the remaining work to realize it === McNools - for creating Aliabad Region island THANKIES GOES TO... --- BIS for the best video game ever created and all provided possibilities for custom-content creation --- All the fantastic BIS community for their passion and dedication ;] --- SaOk for his briefing template --- [...a placeholder for somebody else I forgot...] If you encounter any bugs or have some suggestions which may improve quality of this mission, feel free to post! :) Enjoy & and thanks for playing.
  25. Wiki, typos and various improvements should be present in the next version. I can't specify how long it will take to release a proper update as I have other on-going projects in the pipeline and also a thing called RL. Jedra, notes section has been already fixed in the latest v1.1. Zatoichi, thanks for playing. I'm planning to make weapon selection avaiable (satchel charges included, ofc) and visibility drastically reduced to avoid player being under fire by distant vehicles in v1.2. Perhaps ACE would be useful on this mission, I'm not sure, depends on your liking.
