  1. reality check: BIS is an indie developer. as for Arma 3's full price: I bought Arma 3 as a modding platform, not a game. that's personal, of course. anyway, the price I paid for 3 years of continuous development by the game's community was, of course, worth it. their DLCs are not. I can't believe I have to repeat the same thing in every post, and yet people still try to decompose it into something I didn't say
  2. this is the last time I will voice my opinion on this issue, because we seem to be going in circles. I am not saying A3 has too little content out of the box. it's not about the amount of content. it's about the DLC and what I'd get for the money. $15 could buy me a whole new game (or 3 other games, or 5 other games, or a crapton of games if we count Humble Bundle). compare that to a bunch of weapons I don't need (I never play the role of marksman/machine gunner), and it should become obvious, that from my perspective this DLC - as a product - is completely worthless. that's been my argument all along. was making the DLC possible a lot of work (considering all the new features)? yes. does it justify the price tag? no. games are becoming cheaper and cheaper by the minute. it's where today's market is going. BIS is operating with last decade's prices and business practices. they need to reevaluate their approach. right now they seem to be mimicking Electronic Arts in attempting to sell every small thing they can add to the game. only with Arma 3 BIS is competing against their own community. BIS should've bundled all of the new platform upgrades, made a new single player campaign around them, added new assets and sold all that as one expansion pack (pretty much how they did with Operation Arrowhead). that would've gotten me excited. I'd pay anything up to $40 for that kind of deal. instead they are feeding it to us piece meal at 15 bucks a pop, by the time the new terrain is ready, a lot of you will have spent another Arma 3 copy's worth on all of it.
  3. yes, because: bipods were a highly requested feature from day 1 of Arma 3's release. and stuff like BF3 was being brought up as an example ("even BF3 has bipods, and a military simulator doesn't!"). as for mod support, I only brought it up now because I didn't fully understand what you meant by "if it wasn't for DLC the bipod feature wouldn't even exist". anyway, it's obvious you and I look at these things differently. I want BIS to release DLCs that make me go "wow, I really want to buy it not because I want to support the developers, but because it's a good product". so far, their DLCs have been very strangely marketed and implemented
  4. climbing is in ACE3, though it can be iffy at times with where it allows climbing (same object can be climbed while looking at it at a certain angle only)
  5. that's not what my argument is, though. I don't care about the price. I'm saying it makes no sense to buy the DLC for what it gives (7 guns). I don't need those poorly made guns, I have a ton of those for free from people like Toadie, EricJ, Robert Hammer etc. true, if NOBODY paid for Arma 3, we wouldn't get them, but people did, I did. so they used those resources to introduce new features. how is not buying the new DLC make those features less likely to exist? people bought Arma 3 for completely different reasons. or maybe you're saying BIS made the decision to introduce these features based on marketing research of how good the future DLC would've sold? that's going so far into the realm of "what could've been if they would", that I don't see the point of going there. well, of all my friends who own Arma 3 (a dozen or so people), nobody plays it without mods. weapon resting is the first thing that gets modded in because it's such a game changer. so, yes, if there was no way to modify Arma, it would die. it has everything to do with marketing. marketing is persuading people to buy your product. I know for a fact nobody in my immediate circle of friends and acquaintances have bought any DLCs by BIS, because the content they provide is laughable. and the features we get anyway, so why bother? ok, let's assume, that in the long run BIS stops introducing new features because their DLCs are selling worse and worse. do I care about that possibility enough to spend my money on them out of charity? no. even if Arma 4 never sees the light of day (which is highly unlikely, thanks to Wasteland, King of the Hill and Battle Royale - again, community contributions and NOT original BIS content), I couldn't care less. they leave this niche, another company will surely try to fill it couldn't have said it better. exactly my argument. +1 to you. those who didn't see it in my posts are excused, since it's my fault for wording it poorly.:o
  6. heya, I'm having trouble exporting my xcam project. when exporting as a mission.sqm file it gives me the option to disable simulation, but once I open the mission, simulation is still enabled (stays "true" even if I specified it should be "false" at exporting). no big deal, since I can simply replace all true with false, but still... wondering, if it's something I did or a bug one other thing: I can't open doors on objects I place in xcam. again, is it me or is that how it works? even after exporting and enabling simulation I still can't interact with doors
  7. if you look closer, ACE and RHS do PIP differently. RHS makes the scope itself PIP, while ACE makes everything except the scope PIP. if ACE were to make the scope take less screen space, PIP would have to render more of it, leading to FPS drops. on the other hand, RHS PIP looks terrible, because to save FPS you need to have PIP render at lower quality, and currently it's barely usable (doesn't magnify, distorts the picture). anyway, I do agree with you, 2D type of scopes should be done more like in Project Reality, but preferably enhanced (with parallax etc.) but I really wonder if it's doable in Arma 3 at all without a significant FPS hit
  8. it is for me, so maybe check if your CBA is up-to-date
  9. yes. go into Controls > Configure addons > Ace3 (in the drop-down menu).

Domination Redux by Champy and Tankbuster

hmmm, an interesting turn of events... thanks for clarifying it for me
  11. from a business perspective that's a ridiculous notion, and BIS is a business. but the argument is, everyone got these features anyway, piggybacking off people that felt like giving BIS money. there's a difference between paying for content, that is behind a pay wall, and paying for free content. saying that free features are "worth every penny" just proves the OP's point realistically, BIS couldn't have postponed implementing these features for much longer, because even arcade games like Battlefield 3 had already had them. by finally introducing them they're securing future sales. it has nothing to do with the Marksmen DLC. hell, BIS even stated themselves these features were critical to making the DLC work as players would have expected it to. but they couldn't risk splitting the community. they painted themselves into a corner. bottom line: their marketing department dropped the ball on this one

Domination Redux by Champy and Tankbuster

wha... Domination was competing in that? or was it another mission based on Domination?
  13. in that case I hope they post it here, so that I could test it with my friends, they really need some kind of incentive to get back into Arma 3.
  14. are they free to distribute .PBOs of ACE3?
  15. hah, dat optic swap animation  is that RHS?
  16. like they said up there, anyone with scripting knowledge can fix AGM, so both are equally likely

    Marksmen DLC Weapon Feedback

btw, don't know if it's a known fact, but you can use the new weapons and stuff without having bought the DLC through scripting. the game detects it, though, and draws watermarks on the screen from time to time, which leads me to believe it assumes I've pirated the DLC. will it be fixed? I don't even want to see them in my virtual arsenal in that case

    Squad (PR:BF2 Devs)

if they can make vehicles better than what we have in Arma 3, I'd be compelled to give Squad a try, otherwise I'll stick to what I know works. besides, there are games in Early Access that look more promising than Squad atm

    Weapon Resting & Deployment Feedback

the thing is, the bipod deployed a couple of times for me on its own, it confused me a bit. I use C for going prone, apparently that's why. as for control settings, I couldn't check them at the time, so I had to post here. thanks

    Weapon Resting & Deployment Feedback

how do I deploy the bipod? the icon on top shows I can while prone, but pressing Tab or Spacebar (intuitively) does nothing
  21. thanks for taking the time to answer my questions :o regarding those tanks, they seem like a very good fit for TacBF
  22. thanks for mission suggestions, guys
  23. we need a good insurgency mission on this map
