  1. i would say that they also have a far stricter roadmap to try and reduce the effects of feature creap
  2. engines arn't the problem, lack of rotors is. the rocket tends to ruin the blades, and normally ruin the transmission. helicopters are not made to stand up to good AA rockets, at best they can stop small arms. a AA rocket hitting a heli is a certain kill, maybe the crews not dead, but they will be since its now uncontrollable. this sums it up, a mi8 (the basis for the mi24 hind, and indirectly the mi28) getting killed by a light chinese manpad http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=7ec_1363366149 @varanon, i think the make missiles a ammo bearer should get is 4 (2x2 ontop of ruck) if they are light and 2 (side by side) if they are medium, reducing to 1 for a really heavy on. the firer should only be able to carry a light launcher (loaded) and maybe 2 spares, or a mid launcher(loaded) and a spare (again maybe), or a loaded heavy launcher
  3. the heaviest loads? the ruck, with radio, water and food, plus all "necessary" gear. for the march and emergency march, they get more food, and more support equipment (motar shells, LMG belts, AT rockets etc)
  4. most infantry in real life carry that day in day out. emgergency march load for a US army reaches 147 lbs. under normal conditons they carry about 65lbs, without ruck, and aproach load (which is what i see this as) is 97lbs with ruck (which is day in day out standard) and people wonder why soldiers bodys give out
  5. nah, let him get 2, but have nothing else. 50KG is a handlable weight, but you won't have more then the launcher, 2 spare shots MAX and a sidearm
  6. i was thinking more, firepower in package. a manpad squad, is at the end of the day, a squishy target
  7. IF it releates to multicore support, it probally means the handling of assests in a way that is more efficent. multicore in very simple terms is a predecessor system, where any action that depends on a previous action, can't happen at the same time as said action. but if 2 actions require a single to be preformed before hand, they can both happen on separate cores, at the same time, once the predecessor occurs an improvement in synchronization probally means making things that are required to be done, happen just before they are needed. if any one here has done/understands Gnatt charts for project managment in microsoft project, thats what multicoring tries to do, the most work in the least amount of time
  8. just a thought guys, this kind of situation was done with man carryable weapon systems, we did use a jeep as a mule but the weapon system is a large personal weapon. can you begin to imagine the tears when we get AAA vehicles? cries at the 4000rpm zsu 23's, that no one bothered to kill, capable of "OP infantry killing" (this was the BF3 response to 23mm bullets killing people in a burst) along with hitting air targets. the tears shall be sweet
  9. thats the kind of thing that needs to go into a bug report, since it indicates a area of weakness, wider then just "the AI is broken" which version of fraps and dxtory, as i have both and may try and compare

    AH-9 / MH-9 agility

http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=9786 this aprears to be the feedback thread, so vote on it guys
  11. it reminds me of another public server fail, a entire team running down a road in the air base, towards a serach and destroy objective (of my squad) and we wiped them out with LMG's and AR fire. apparently they thought we would wait at the marker to die
  12. we did something similar, we used a ifrit to carry the ammo to overwatch, then AAA the area. the thing was that they just kept getting more heli's. no one tried to find us, no one tried to kill us, they just kept taking off. then people whined in chat about it being OP etc. as to the missile doing to much damage, its probally about right. hinds where getting knocked out of the air in A-stan by stingers, and these are better missiles then stingers by the looks of them. Helicopters are very fragile, and really only work when they are full intact, a fragmenting warhead will wreck the rotors and anti torque on impact, and a HMG would chew it up in a burst or 2
  13. yep i do it for shyrim you need one thats the correct name, and another with a distinct name (as i suggested), when you want to change, you change the correct name to something relevant (so main branch) and rename the dev branch copy to the correct name and restart steam
  14. copy the entire directory, change the name of one to ARMA 3 BETA dev, and have that as the dev branch. then swap them as needed. you may need to turn off steam when you swap to stop it screwing the game

G35 sound settings for Arma 3

they fixed it? it used to be nearly 50% quiter (and the balance was wrecked) compared to the drivers from the disk. maybe when they release the new headsets (those new blue ones) they upgraded the balance

G35 sound settings for Arma 3

did you use the CD that came with the headset, or the online logitech gaming center (for all the keyboards and mice etc) installer? cos if your used the online manager, the G35 drivers are screwed. you need to replace the drivers with the CD ones, or find the FTP server logitech has hidden with it on them (the forum mods used to link to it)

Configuring a HOTAS for helo flight

its now a maybe, it might, it might not. the interview wasn't going into detail, and this came up in passing. i suspect that this is one of those things that may go into the "too hard to intergrate" basket, if they run out of time

    low fps with 7970

AMD cards don't do antialising well, so turn that down, if its at x16, try x4, if its x8 try x2 etc. akso make sure you have the latest stable drivers
  19. thats a direct x error, you need to get the correct direct x update. its probably part of the ones that everyone assumes is standard quick google search suggests its actually a file thats meant to come as part of windows, so if its not part of the OS, they need to change whatevers calling that .dll

Configuring a HOTAS for helo flight

they can do it with the current thing they have for the engine, its just that if they want to launch on time, they won't be able to make it run well. their is always a tradeoff, and they are commited to making the deadline before chirstmas

Configuring a HOTAS for helo flight

the TOH FM may not make it, a interview said its interactions with the physx system was causing issues, and they where experincing a drop of 10FPS on the client when said client entered a heli with the TOH FM

thye problem with colective is that most joysticks have a postive nad negative half of a axis. for arma the colective power is actually split into increase and decrease, so you need to map decrease to the bottom half of the lever, and increase to the top hlaf. the deadzone in the middle is maintain speed or hover for lock, it means the game targets the target closest to the center of the HUD
  23. or more likely they are using a core build, and some of the changes in the development branch (stuff thats not approved for final) didn't make it into the final branch for whatever reason think SVN with a master and a development

    no changelog today?

they are probally going to wait for the beta to go fully live, and preping for that.
  25. so its just like the other 4x scopes, that have the CQB attachment on the "/" (change scope type button)?
