Another tips about the middle mouse menu:- 1. Try looking up and down at a ladder if you dont find the menu to climb one 2. Entering a vehicle, if you dont see the driver seat try entering from the other side.

How do I play campaigns in co-op?
gunso replied to Endemantis's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
I have tried the official campaign online coop, it works. If i remember properly just start the campaign and there's an option to host it online. Just dont use AI enhancement mod with the campaign, it makes the AI does weird thing. If you want to host coop missions that you download here, goto multiplayer and host an online game. -

Civilian mission idea - input appreciated
gunso replied to FallujahMedic -FM-'s topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
A civilian doing honest work to save enough money to get out of the country with his family. - Doing driving job like taxi, lorry, bus and etc (i like driving in arma 2 without ppl shooting at me XD) - Gain enough money, brought family to see smuggler but unfortunately involved in a mafia gang assassination attempt - Family gets killed, assisting to help wounded mafia boss - Drive mafia boss while getting chased by opposition gang. - CAR CHASE!!! - Job offer by mafia boss, starting small with delivery stuffs and etc. - A few years later- a hardcore mafia bodyguard, blowing up stuffs, assassinating rival gang and etc. - Found out his child survived and currently working for the other group - Doing recon and gathering intel - save his child with a few PMC suv with miniguns and mafia goons XD - more car chase with lilttle heli chasing ~more stuffs blowing up - saves his child - Hides in safehouse - Went back to own gang group but found out a power struggle have ensues - Witnessed that mafia family cousin that hates you is killing your boss - gets caught n beaten up :- Taking over the son character - went to look for dad, all hell breaks loose - saves dad but he's injured, steals a plane. - Crashed plane in Takistan - Continue to part II XD Hope it's not too long =/ -
Couple of Questions About ArmA 2 Combined Operations
gunso replied to BobRpgGamer's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
you can play all the coop and mp mission alone with AI and it's pretty easy. Just go to multiplayer and host a game, to be safe since some mission require dedicated server. Just run arma2oasvr.exe (or something like that), then tab back to arma 2 and go to multiplayer, switch to local and you will see your own server. pick a mission and vote yourself as admin so you can change the parameter and stuffs. But playing online with others make it easier to ask stuffs that you didn't know since each mission is different in it's own way. Use mic for better game experience, easier to ask questions too =3. since it's a sim some real tactics works well if you're frustrated with the game. it's not a common shooter so normal shooter tactic wont work at all since 1 shot will get you crippled or killed easily. try this when controlling AI. 1. Hold fire - do not disclose your location to the enemy, wait for all your AI to get into position and report that they spot the enemy. Ambush is always better than frontal charge attack. Make priority target, always try to kill vehicles and commanders 1st. you dont want to attack with a big MG pointing at your troops. 2. Direction - Tell your AI where to concentrate E,W or etc. so they wont waste time looking all around. 3. Use hard cover - stay behind rocks instead of bushes and roll for cover when they discover your location, DO NOT peek at the same location again but relocate to others to snipe again. Enemy AI will concentrate on your previous location and will give you a head shot when you peek, they will also advance to your location and try to flank you. 4. Sniper - everyone wants to be the sniper but there's no point being a sniper when your are shooting at 500m or less, use the advantage of sniper guns and attack from 700-1000m away like a real sniper should do. Relocate when the enemy is sending vehicles to your location. 5. Moving - Frustrated when you're walking towards the AO and lose half your units to enemy patrols? Send 1 guy as recon in the front and tell him to hold fire. when he spot enemies tells him to stop and go prone. Then you can get your bearing and plan what to do. 6. King of the hill - Yeah it's fun to be on top of the hill where you can see all the enemies but you need to remember that THEY can also see you once you shoot and announce your position to them and it's really bad if they do have more firepower than you. (look at all the afgan documentary and see how they even call the A10 to bomb a location where they knew the fire is coming from) 7. My AI is a retard! - Use AI mod enhancement like Zeus AI or a few others. Once you're starting to use mods do have a look into JSRS and Blastcore too =3 . AI cant see too far so they rely on you to tell them where the enemy are. I still prefer OFP method of right click using binocular which dont work really well in arma 2 if there's a few leaves in front of you. you can hear yourself relaying enemy information to them and your AI say when he saw the enemy. Recon, recon and relay the info to your units. 8. Tank != Rambo - Yeah tanks is impressive but dont use them like an assault unit, a cheap rpg will easily cripple it. Use all the expensive stuffs in it to recon from long range. Attack from afar too if possible. Move in and leave 1 unit on a hill to provide cover when you're moving in. Play the game like you only have 1 life then you'll love it XD -
me too, since i get the upgrade version. but i dont really mind, as long BIS made a kickass game

Suggestion For Carrier Battle : Classic or lets improvised?
gunso posted a topic in CARRIER COMMAND: GAEA MISSION - P&C BETA
I found the island battle is quite good thinking BIS puts a lot of effort into it even for a beta release but there's still room to improvise and i know they will take it up to standard in a bit (i can wait =3 ) But the carrier battle.... i know it's using the same tactic as the original version but feels like it can still be improved since it's the most awaited battle in the whole game. Bis made pretty good simulation games, even for carrier command the island battle is really convincing but how about the carrier? Seeing it dash faster than a manta is kinda a joke. I want a good long carrier battle where you see armor gets ripped off and small AA guns chipping on the armor like it should be. It's a giant big carrier so it should be slow and shouldn't be able to overtake a manta... I feel that it would be better if we have a tech tree to upgrade our carrier too depending on our playing style. Then we can have sea battles with the island sea patrol units before going in the island. A good practice before we get jumped by the enemy carrier too i would say. For a fight between giant ships i dont want to see the AA guns reducing a big carrier with armor HP down like tissue paper but want a more precision attack on the ship subsystem. Disable it's engine, then take out some more subsystem depending on your style. use manta to take out these sensitive system to cripple the enemy while the enemy can do the same too. remember those giant mothership space battle on freespace 2 and other games? Maybe we can use the resource and create a manta squadron on defense island with a better radar system (from tech upgrade of course) to do hit and run to the enemy carrier when it's passing by our territory or an escort ship for our carrier. If you can take out it's radar then it means you can do sneak attack to it and etc. you only move in close for the kill of the enemy carrier if sufficient subsystems was down or risk the damaged to your engine as well. Any subsystem damage will require a repair at the dock. With a good tech upgrade option for our carrier we can have battle with multiple enemy carriers in the same map with the enemy having different configuration too based on game difficulty. More option and tactics will open up and making the game to have a high replay value. I would also like to suggest the option for player to jump in and command the island being attacked since the carrier will take a while to get there anyway. So while the carrier is slowly moving to the island, player will have the option to go into time compression or move in real time while taking control of the island defense. The island defenses have manta, walrus and turrets too so i think it's possible to implement this so you will get more action in this game rather than just biting your nails in the carrier hoping the enemy wont capture it before you arrived. So suggest away guys on how to make this game have a better sea battle between the 2 carriers (or maybe 3 or 4). -

Activating Time Compression?
gunso replied to Impact's topic in CARRIER COMMAND: GAEA MISSION - P&C BETA
well beta is beta, i'm sure bis gonna add more stuffs to it like upgrading the carrier, satellite enemy carrier tracking upgrade, much better prolonged and tactical carrier battle and etc. i'm willing to wait for it since bis is 1 of the dev that actually listened to its gamers. did u also notice the waypoint of the carrier is not efficient but it works, give them time to shape this game to be as epic as its menu theme :) -
NVIDIA ISSUES / Beta is Broken...
gunso replied to LubeStar's topic in CARRIER COMMAND: GAEA MISSION - P&C BETA
Put a ticket to BIS, i'm sure this is what they are trying to sort out in this beta version. Just remember to put all the necessary details regarding your spec and drivers. Mine runs fine on 1st install with everything on default setting. I do get 1 crash for now after a couple of times playing, some sound card issue. will put a ticket if i can recreate the issue again. -
P&C BETA first impressions
gunso replied to lNTRUDER's topic in CARRIER COMMAND: GAEA MISSION - P&C BETA
Hey BIS great game as always, you should provide us a sample of the soundtrack earlier, it's great. I should have taken the package with the soundtrack if i knew it's that good..... Overall from my view:- - Island capture and fight is really great but could do with a few more improvement because it felt too easy if i simply use the AI to fight. They can kill any enemy easily while a player will less likely to land in hits. I would like to suggest that when a player took over an AI unit, it should gain some better rate of firepower to offset the human targeting capability. There should be more incentive to let the player take over the AI more frequently. - I feel like BIS have concentrated a lot on the island, ground and air battle but the battle with the enemy carrier seems to lack a lot to me. I feel that it would be better if the carrier fights like actual warship, not zip and dash like the original version. It should have slow speed too due to the size in term of acceleration with all the mass and armor. A few Suggestion: - Upgradable carrier subsystems like armor weapons and etc, make it so player will have to choose to have the heaviest armor but will sacrifice speed for it and etc. Radar range, carrier weapons, type of weapons on front, sides or aft. Give the option to player to customize their carrier, would be a really great addition for long battle on bigger maps or even campaign. - Factory to manufacture escort ships, carrier shouldn't really zip around without any escort anyway. Battle with the enemy carrier can be done using formation and attacking while passing like ship battle should. Player will adjust their formation base on their carrier configuration whether to shield the carrier, rear defense for retreating or exposing the carrier for maximum firepower. - Increase carrier armor so that small guns on the carrier will not sink a big fully armored carrier anyway, carrier attack strategy should be to attack the ship subsystems to cripple it, then get in closer to give the killing blow. Any hit on the armored hull should be considered as minor and shouldn't give lots of damage. Manta and walrus will be critical in landing this pinpoint hits to the enemy subsytems. Then the carrier will be used to land in bigger hits. Overall it's a great game but require a bit more work. come on guys, make it like arma. Give the player option based on his game style. I'm not talking about mod but the player ability to choose, it is what made arma2 a really engaging game. But do the same for carrier command in term of the sea battles too. Maybe throw in enemy ship in island defense too to keep the player in practice for the final confrontation with the enemy carrier. -
arma 2 free - - I'm not sure but i read somewhere that it is a full version that have become free courtesy of BIS, maybe someone else can verify this. Operation Arrowhead - takistan map and vehicles latest patch for arma 2 OA - Lite texture for BAF and PMC addon BAF/PMC DLC- offical campaign and high res texture for MP, most server are using arma2 + operation arrowhead. If you have less than that you will be kicked when the server switched to a mission that require stuffs that you dont have depending on server config, some might kick you before you get in. Just download arma 2 free then install your OA. Run your game using arma 2 OA .exe

Hi guys, after downloading so many missions and mods i found that it is a bit daunting trying to remember which mission goes with which mod. I'm familiar with sixupdater and etc but still cant think of an easier way to run missions automatically with it's required mod. (or maybe i missed some function for it). I know how to use presets but only for MP server. i know that i can run a mission directly by double clicking on the mission.pbo file Is there a way to make shortcut with parameters to load the missions with the required addon when i want to play it, so i dont have to check the internet to see what mods i need to run it or dpbo the mission file to check for required mod? can you guys share with me on how do you manage the so many missions and addons in arma 2?

i'm kinda a noob at this script stuffs, but thanks. i'll look into goggle on how to use scripts. i might find some interesting stuffs too XD thanks sickboy, looking forward to more advance features for sixupdater. awesome stuffs, keep up the good work XD

My 3 wishlist for arma3 1. Player using binocular/tank commander n etc should be able to mark target for his AI using right click (remember OFP?) if he can see it using his binocs. Targeting system for heli and plane in OFP is good where radar will see any visible object base on height but require player to click on it to mark it as hostile target or not if it's too far to verify, so no more tab locking like arma2. So air user will depend on ground unit to verify the target n relay the info to the heli radar. So player with happy tab locking attitude will be shooting down civvies and friendly vehicles if he's not careful. 2. Tanks or armored vehicles hit points based on vehicles side and no small arm able to hurt armor!! (Gawd plz incorporate this, i'm sick of able to kill a tank just by shooting mg to it) 3. Sandbox game. - If Bis can make a template where user made mission can be integrated into 1 sandbox game that would be really awesome. User can select the mission he wants to do based on the difficulty listed on the missions. - This way we can have a RPG game like OFP resistance where we can level up our units. Adding bounty and ability to hospitalize injured units, recruiting new recruits and buying vehicles and weapon based on player ranks will give it a high replay value. The ability to add in user made missions while retaining the units experience will make it a great RPG that can be played for a long time. - Adding option for MP where online friends can join in and assist the player sandbox game would be really great in tackling harder missions which will provide better bounty. Imagine a sandbox RPG game where : 1. Future user made missions can be integrated easily 2. Units that will level up in ranks and response time base on experience and kills 3. Units management concept like close combat series - resting units to heal, repair and etc. 4. Multiple mission type to choose which give bounty or new vehicles based on difficulty 5. Priority in keeping your men alive and back to base safely because experienced units are a valuable assets. Losing experience men will mean your platoon will consist of vets and recruits which will make the commander job of assigning units more interesting. 6. Real time/date, injured unit will take real time to heal so you will be stuck with a recruit replacement until he fully healed. Adding ability to forward time and date will make the game more realistic, in case you need to wait for reinforcement or supplies before doing a mission. 7. Sandbox difficulty option like unlimited time or fixed end date for a campaign to make the game easier or harder. Now we will have an awesome modern military sandbox where warband is a great medieval sandbox game XD I hope Bis will consider this or use this idea to make it into something better because sandbox + RPG + future custom mission is a win!

Hi boss! another weird ideas from me to the expert mission programmers out there. i love the build function in arma 2 like laying fix emplacements n etc and i also love the zombie missions that we have in here. I would like to request a simple unlimited zombie tower type of mission where i can put defenses, buy AI to man it and watch how does it fare against a horde of zombies wave. To make it more challenging maybe an option to upgrade the rearm time of the weapons. With difficulty settings that affects income received per zombies killed. Zombies can be made harder to kill by increasing their health or something. To make it simpler and without any mod you can also add in vehicles driving zombies for the added armor to make it a busier day for the fix guns. Would be great if it can be played on coop too! PS :- This is a fictional mission request where you play just to have fun standing next to a GPMG blazing away mowing down rebellious peasants,i mean zombies. without worrying of getting your head blown off while taking a peek. =P

here is all the server list currently playing http://arma2.swec.se/server/list make sure you have the latest patch tho. I always panicked when i see red crosses on all the server and realize there's a new patch out.

ArmA2 / OA (low) performance issues
gunso replied to R3fl3x's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
well if you think about it, he can still use winXP 64bit if he can manage to get all the necessary driver for his devices or just use dual boot. Who cares about 8GB ram if it cant even run arma2 smoothly =/ But from my experience trying 2 OS on the same rig, winXP is much more efficient and faster in doing a lot of stuffs. I remember doing 4-6 large zip file extraction + converting video + playing a window game or watching HD movie at the same time but when i use win7 i can only do like 1/3 of the stuffs that i usually do and running a game is out of the question even watching HD movie makes the movie stutters. But with arma2 it really makes a big difference, on winXP i dont even need to tweak my GPU config and can play with track IR even with my web browser open in the background. but with Win7 i need to tweak my GPU settings and still cant play chernarus map with track IR. I even have horrible FPS when playing chernarus map with dynamic weather turn on, on MP server. The only thing that i like about win7 is it's search function, other than that... i still prefer winXP -
ArmA2 / OA (low) performance issues
gunso replied to R3fl3x's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
use winXP, it increases ur fps by 30%. I can vouch for this, because previously i'm using winXP and can run chernarus map with track IR on 1280 X 1024 without any lag. i'm using phenom 2 quad 2.2ghz and EN 9600 GT 512mb graphic card. But when i start to use win 7 chernarus map lags at the same resolution and using track IR makes the game unplayable at all with the lags, reducing the resolution makes it smoother but wtf.... I'm gonna use winXP again with dual boot when i finally found my winXP cd serial no =3 http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18024779 -
I read somewhere last time that arma3 will have a campaign that you can roam around and do multiple dynamic missions while getting to your main objective. I would love to see a mission where my AI will upgrade and gain experience like in OFP resistance while freely choosing which mission i want to do (GTA style?) But to make this interesting, it will be great if BIS can do a mission/module that we can easily integrate our user made mission to it (like attaching a mod or something, there are tons of it already in the download section). That way any user made missions can be added to it in the future making it to have really high replay value. This is the original idea but the scope seem kinda big for arma2 http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=111114&page=17 Original Post : I dont mind if it's released as a dlc too. 1. 1 big map 2. Upgradable units experience base 3. Player gain more ranks with more kills or command points and can command more people and later on more squads 4. Any new community made missions can be added seamlessly into it and can be triggered by selecting at HQ or something. 5. Available mission list to be selected at HQ with difficulty stated on its side (remember F22 Total war by DID?) 6. HQ or MHQ for refit, tending wounded soldiers and requisition new recruits 7. Ability to make forward base which can be attacked if chosen by the player will be great (Arma2 already have this amazing features, now to get it to be enjoyed in SP!! I know everybody loves building base and deploying fix emplacements lol). 8. Random surprises!! By doing 1 mission at a time, at least we can limit the resource so the game will not be a burden to the user PC. If the user PC can handle it maybe we can add the option for limited Dynamic activity (like in WICT mod) so player will get the feeling of being a part of something big. what better way to play a new custom made mission especially when you get to upgrade your units while playing it! It's RPG so any mission can be repeated by the player to train his units and gain experience but to make it interesting mission location can be randomly placed if possible. pleeeezzzzz make this into a DLC, i promise i will be the 1st one to buy it!!!! XDD another wishful thinking, adding female soldiers? Of course i'm gonna make her my 2nd in command and train her to be really bad ass elite in my squad =P With units survival as your primary objective i'm sure it will make you feel attached to your units and giving it a sense of comradeship and not just some AI clones that u left running alone on the road chasing after you in warfare lol. PS: Oh you can also add multiplayer option where player can join in and choose to be any of the soldier in the group. So his/her friends can join in and assist the player in his game. (This kinda reminds me of the black suit agents in the matrix movie....)

aaa shit, well mod you can delete it if there's actually a duplicate
