    Managing a new community

Ra covered brought up some very good points. Our group is in our second year and I can tell you running any online group appears to be a series of learning as you go. Here are some bullet points that we found successful. Some of these have been mentioned by Ra Define who your group is. The founding members of our group did this from day one and it helps in attracting quality members and more importantly, keeping them. Example, we are Air Assault. We don't have any armor so if a member applies wanting to drive a tank, we are obviously the wrong group. Define what you do every week. If you want to train every week, make sure you train every week. If you really dont care what you do every week, then that needs to be laid out as well. If you want members to give up their valuable time week after week, you'll need to give them a reason to. Set the rules and everyone follows them. Very important. You need to decide whats important to your members and the group, set the rules to maintain those behaviors and make sure everyone, including the people in charge. Realistic or just fun. You need to decide this as well. This will help you work through what people take for weapons etc....and it will help you explain to members why they should take what they need to take. Someone needs to lead the group. This could be two or three members running it as a committee or just one person...whatever your poison! Share the work. As you get more members, the workload will grow. Make sure you have people to help maintain the group, its rules and more importantly, the members. It sounds like all of these decisions should be made after discussing the matters with the current membership to be fair to them. Good luck with the group!!! Feel free to PM me as well.

    Should Our Group Switch Games?

You have to do what's best for your members. We're evaluating the new game and the mods coming out for it on a daily basis. Our challenge is a promise to our members of not sacrificing the nice blend of realism and enjoyable gameplay that we've perfected in the year plus we've been around. Our overall plan of customizing what we'll use in Arma 3, our members growing enthusiasm for Arma 3 as well creating our own unique mods has us going over in the very near future.

Things that are actually better with ARMA 3.

Personally, I'm slightly taken aback when I load up Arma 3. You can see the progression in the Arma games with the latest adding more realism. Arma 3 feels good and I see it as being an incredible platform to continue milsimming on. If the improved tools that have been promised come out soon, we'll see a ton on content. Best of all, it'll be free. Show me another game that has that community support.
  7. I have created a folder under my documents that stores all the scripts etc I find and use. With proper naming of the files to find them and saved with notepad, it's easy to build a nice library very quickly. They're also easy to access when editing.
  8. The short and sweet New group being built on the foundation of the dynamic military doctrine of air assault. Looking for mature team players. Speak through respect not rank. Have own Teamspeak and dedicated server, just need you. Background In the fictitious world of Bohemia Interactive's game, Arma Air Assault is a military group assigned to NATO's Response force. We follow the dynamic military doctrine that is Air Assault. Arma Air Assault is tasked with the more challenging and aggressive operations when peace-keeping simply isn't enough. With the international background, sections are created using British and American weapons and utilize a variety of military hardware from different countries. This mix of nationalities and equipment brings a new dynamic to an ARMA 2 online gaming group. Reasons to join The group was founded on some very basic principles; a small group, tactical gameplay, respect, fun, focus and dedication. There are no monthly fees or dues to be a member of AAA, although donations to keep the dedicated server and Teamspeak channel up and running are always welcomed. We speak through respect and not rank. Rank is only used in the structure of training and operations. Arma Air Assault has its own Teamspeak as well as a dedicated server running ACE Mods A selective group of players Gaming schedule based around CST times but have European members who are very happy with our training and operation times. The immediate need is to build our small but talented air crews (we are after all Air Assault) and of course quality, mature players to fill out the fireteams. Learn about our group in detail on our website here and enlist here. For more videos, check out our Youtube page.
  9. Its been a while since we completed the first mission in our latest campaign 'Operation Epimetheus', but we finally had a chance to edit it down. Our weekly practice/mini-missions/campaign can last up to four hours, so we obviously cut out the tactical movement. etc, out of our videos..... We have a background story and ongoing progress report on the campaign. All of this continues our commitment to fun as well as tactical training....... We have one campaign mission left the arc of the story.......

    Blackhawks by YuraPetrov

Have some questions about this mod. I have gone through the various posts, but can't see an answer to my question. It appears this mod allows for weapons to be added to the weapon points on the ESSS version. I've managed to put the hellfire missiles on, but they appear inside the fuel tanks. Do I need to remove the fuel tanks? Can I put a cannon pod and rocket pod on the weapons points in lieu of no fuel tanks (thinking of the new battlehawk features)? Thanks in anticipation of any help in this matter.
  13. Been a while since we've managed to edit down our missions into a video, but here is our practice from Sunday 04 AUG. It may appear dark in some places, we were trying to maintain the integrity of the night time mission. The ending should definitely be seen...................Enjoy!
  14. A mid-year (sort-of) update. We are officially in our second year and consider ourselves incredibly lucky to enjoy full ranks of quality, fun yet serious players as members. Our latest video shows our ongoing commitment to our training and use of custom missions. We are getting closer to having an open server weekend which should allow players to test drive our members as possible brothers in arms.
  15. Very nice retexturing.
  16. Wow...insanely impressive!
  17. Great idea! Like the suggestion of a LCS. Many online gaming groups such as ours like to stage helicopter insertions from the sea. If you could have a flight deck and hanger to house choppers, vehicles and other equipment, you would certainly be the toast of the Arma 3 world! Good luck and looking forward to seeing this progress!

Why Altis might be way too big...

You know, I've often wondered when spending time at the gym doing my purgatory on the treadmill 'how hard would it be to stick Chernarus on the screen and 'jog across' the landscape.....lol
