  1. Yup ACE works for me too but....I don't use all of it and that could be why. I don't use the medical system or the weapon over heating, ACE Hearing, Goggles and Recoil are not used either with my version of the Addon. As a result I have no issues with ACE running with the UNSUNG Alpha, one or more of those pbo's may be causing a problem for some. The thread is getting long but it would still be nice if people would do a cursory browse through the thread to see if their issue had been addressed in some way rather than just state, which by now is obvious.
  2. Very interesting. I wonder how AI treats the terrain? Do waypoints still work or does the AI get hopelessly lost, do bullets pass through buildings and trees? Do the roads work or do cars drive straight rather than follow the road? Things like that could be broken with your moving the map from Arma 2 to Arma 3. It is very encouraging though. :)
  3. There will be a whole new Arma 3 editor possibly as early as next month. The 3D editor will completely replace the current 2D editor. Although many of the mechanics are the same, Triggers, Waypoint, etc., If you are learning new you should probably invest your time in learning that new editor. The Beta is out now and you can get it from the DEV branch of Arma 3.

A couple of things if you're open to it? 1) the trees get destroyed too easily - just a few mortar rounds will lay waste to even large trees. 2) the Riflemen using AK-47 only (seem to) fire in single fire mode, no auto fire (spray and pray was the tactic of the day). Just my 2 cents for your consideration as you work towards Beta and finally Phase I release.

  8. As tinter said the map is small but it takes me 5 times longer to get anywhere because the thick jungle makes it necessary to proceed with caution as Charlie could be anywhere. Most of my firefights happen in less than 50m ! On most maps I engage at 200m +. Still loving the Alpha .
  9. I've always wanted to try DUWS but I wasn't sure how to limit the campaign to only custom content, don't want any space age Iranians with Antman helmets showing up and ruining the fun ;) . I hope you release something that we can share and learn how to take advantage of the DUWS mod. :)

  11. I played my first Unsung A3 mission today; a few placed VC, a random VC patrol and a randomly spawned VC hunter team vs a MACVSOG Recon patrol. WOW, the tension was thick, very few VC made for a few tense firefights. The map is excellent. Charlie has good hearing but he defiantly can't see through the jungle. One machinegun nest can do a lot of damage before you can figure out where the fire is coming from. This is what a jungle map is supposed to be like. thanks for the early Christmas present.
  12. I like to add text in my triggers and since the 1.54 update I can no longer do that. When I select TYPE [TEXT] in the Trigger, the TEXT field comes up with "Name Tag" in the field and no test can be entered. It is almost like the TEXT and RESOURCE have been reversed. If I select RESOURCE the TEXT field is empty but does not allow for anything to be typed in. I can't seem to get a screen shot of the problem, sorry. Any assistance would be appreciated. Dr@gon
  13. Thanks for your reply. I was worried it was something on my system so I tested vanilla Arma 3 to make sure and it still happens without any mods. I tried to search the topic in the forums but the problem is I didn't really know what to call it. thanks again for your answer.

  15. Hi The vests look good but the carrying capacity is too low. The SAW style vest (your pic #2) can only carry 1x 200 rd Box and 1 grenade despite the model having 3 pouches for box ammo. I suppose the model and carry capacity don't need to be the same but only one box mag and one grenade is still too low. Otherwise the mod looks very good.

  18. Yes agreed. There were some good desert maps (can't remember the names) where the special features like caves and such were part of a jpg that the mission maker could use to find those areas during the editing phase but in game the Arma map had no markers for the players. Mission creation involved having the jpg map on one monitor and Arma editor on the other.
  19. The NAM map can be a lot of fun. I like what CPL.Variable did with the VC Bases and VC Outposts; build them camouflaged into the landscape with dirt berms and hid them with grass/bamboo. It is a very playable map. The down side is that the map is in constant construction so if you build your own missions there is a possibility that an entire FOB (FOB Juliet) that the mission was build around could disappear with the next update (Steam sucks for that). The 7th Cav group build the map for their MP server to run their missions and currently they focus on the Hamburger Hill area so everything else could change. This isn't a bad thing because as I said its their map for their MP server its just something to consider if you want to build your own missions with it. The map keeps getting better with each revision so maybe it will eventually be stable where updates are fewer.

    TRYK's Multi-Play Uniforms

    The TRYK mod is one of the only mods that has a vest for the SAW units (TAC Vest). It looks ridiculous for a light machinegunner using 100 or 150 box mags to be wearing a vest for a rifleman with 5.56mm mags on it. Before anyone piles on, the BAF mod has a SAW vest but also has a Brit flag on the chest, one other mod I tried had a SAW vest but the carrying capacity only allowed one box of ammo, pointless. If anyone knows of a decent mod that has good a SAW vest (no flag) let me know, may as well throw in a good GL vest (no flag) also....until the TRYK mod is updated. A person could adjust the config in the PBO, there are threads showing how its done but everyone would have a different version causing problems for multiuser play I assume. Someone needs to release a temp fix that everyone uses similar to what was done for RHS mod. Nope, not volunteering, I don't have enough coding experience for that :).
  21. Thanks for your reply. Although I can never get enough of a good jungle map, a south east Asian city battle would be unique (different architecture and feel). On that theme a city that has been ravaged by war with debris and some ruined buildings as a battle in progress would be interesting. May have to wait for Tanoa and take advantage of BI's own models.
  22. The map is amazing. Has the Unsung team made plans on the direction of future maps or see what you want to build when the time comes? I do like maps that represent real world locations (within the limitations of Arma). A portion Quang Tri for your first map release has inspired some mission ideas for me, does the team plan to stay in Quang Tri, other locals in I Corp or a more generic jungle theme for future releases?
  23. That is an excellent question; ACE is at 3.2.1 and I'm not using the medical system, recoil or over heating. I like to stay a version behind until it has been out for a while. I downloaded 3.4.1 but have not tried it yet. I will do that today and see if it makes a difference. CBA 2.2 also Yes I shot with a rifle, American officer using M16.
