  1. Price -> Prize. Also some of the wording is a bit awkward. Nice prizes though.
  2. I'm not even sure if the engine can still play .wav files. Convert to .ogg to make sure.
  3. Players are add-on allergic because Arma is not up to par with addon usability...yet. It's a serious PITA to hunt down various addons from AH and set them up manually. The experience is frustrating and pretty old-school. A2 vets don't care as they're used to it. Workshop integration and the newly announced launcher should turn that frown upside down though. I'd just make the campaign with whatever mods you feel appropriate. I find those pretty fun when used right.
  4. Make sure you've forwarded all the default ports, in particular the steam ones. Look for Terox' Dedicated server guide in the multiplayer server section for a list of them.

    Development Blog & Reveals

Good news indeed. Looking forward to it. Although it does kinda leave pw6 in an awkward position. Workshop + BI Launcher pretty much nullifies their raison d'etre. Took you long enough to realize BI.
  6. It's a rational viewpoint but a bit naive. It seems pretty easy to have LOL entries completely subvert the intention of the competition while remaining inside the ruleset. I agree that these entries wouldn't be able to pass the final judging, but they can edge out sincere competitors for a spot in the final 20, which seems unfair, not to mention it wouldn't reflect well on the contest itself. I'm not saying this will happen, but you must take the possibility into account. To me the current popularity mechanic seems vulnerable to abuse from third parties.

  8. That is a false statement as the popularity in the first stage is the main criteria for selection. Self-promotion is at this stage the only way to get considered for judging. A good quality submission certainly has a leg up over the competition for those that care about that, but a smartly placed ad on YT/reddit/FP/4chan that gets votes and support is of more value. It's the direct opposite of what you intend. In theory the best quality entry gets the highest votes, but in practice that hardly ever works out that way.

    Close Air Support - ECAS

It's possible some are trying to use the workshop landing page as advertisement for community servers or something, though unlikely. What's your current workshop stats? Maybe drop Dwarden a line to take a look at more detailed metrics to pinpoint where the detraction is coming from?
  10. Disclaimer; IANAL If you have license, proof upon request, and a disclaimer in your entry (a simple .txt within the .pbo stating the use of the sounds, a list of said sounds, the possession of your license for usage/reproduction and renouncement of ownership of the sounds) you should be fine. I don't see anything there prohibiting the use of the sounds from sfxsource. It actually actively supports the kind of use you (probably, assuming it's simple playback during missions) intend, all the other prohibitions are very specific. Considering the contest entries are of a non-commercial nature, and they remain your creation I don't see anything barring you from entering. The only problem I see is that BIS might not be able to use any audio containing the licensed sounds taken from playback from your entry for promotional purposes as the license of the sound does not extend beyond you. The SFXsource license is very particular about that it isn't something you're allowed to extend. Then again, as the combination of the sound with your mission in essence constitutes a new work, with the focus of the work not being the sound and those reproduction rights to that lie with you (even with your license). Then it should be alright as long as BIS doesn't lift the sound in particular. But these questions are probably best to get answered from SFXsource and BIS' legal council. You should contact SFXsource/BIS support and see what they think. Oh, and do back-up those receipts.
  11. It's a good question. It's WIP alongside with AddOn support I suppose. In the mean time you can put all your missions in a collection. Just go to your mission workshop page and select "add to collection" under the preview images and then follow the link the pop-up gives you. It's not as refined as an entire campaign laid out in the campaign menu, but it does give an easy option for players to subscribe to all of the missions at once until actual workshop campaign support is there. Maybe you can share the collection link from the MANW profile as well as single entries.
  12. I would assume that 3rd party music is OK as long as 1. It's your creation in it's entirety (the copyright lies with you). 2. In the public domain (the copyright expired or is otherwise not applicable) 3. Licensed under Creative Commons or otherwise and you comply with said license to the letter (the copyright is freely extended under terms). You could technically purchase a license for copyrighted materials if you want to, but it's probably outrageously expensive. The only question that remains: are the MANW entries considered a commercial product?

  14. I don't see you adding a user action to turn it off anywhere.
  15. So single players can register too? I was under the impression it was only for groups.

Gift a copy to my brother?

They're licensed to your account for life.
  17. You can always use the empty *security contractor* template from pmc>men and dress those up. The random script doesn't run for those.
  18. Setting the AAF texture on the drone is also possible.

LEA - Loadout Editor for ArmA 3

You're correct, I simply hadn't noticed as I always assumed briefing was disabled for SP by default. In that case addUniform doesn't work with preloaded scripts in SP period. But if you disable the briefing with "briefing=0;" addUniform does function as expected.

  21. I did a bit of number crunching. I went to Armaholic and looked at the availability of all A2 and OA missions. It's not truly all missions on offer, but it's the easiest way to find publicly released missions pre-workshop. OA: 1306 missions (SP + Coop + MP game modes) 87 Campaigns (let's average at 10 per campaign) 870 170 Mission packs (and the same for the packs) 1700 3876 missions A2: 959 missions (SP + Coop + MP game modes) 27 campaigns (270) 106 mission packs (1060) 2289 missions That's (give or take) 6165 publicly released missions over a timespan of 5 years. Steam workshop currently (at the writing of this post) hosts 6221 publicly viewable missions. And A3 hasn't been released for a year (unless you include the beta phase). That's pretty neat as this shows there's definitely interest in content creation. This is both good and bad. The bad is that these missions are mostly made by nublets and probably not very good. The good thing is that these nublets will only get better (if they keep making missions and stick with the arma platform). Hopefully the truly stand-out missions will float up more as the ratings don't really work that well currently and there need to be many more filter options. I can also see a bit of increased need for mission reviews on say Armaholic etc.

LEA - Loadout Editor for ArmA 3

I found a singleplayer A3 bug that also affects LEA in a minor way. If "briefing = 1;" is set in the description.ext, addUniform does not work properly from any scripts (even init.sqf) called before the briefing. This causes units affected to be in their underwear upon mission start. This means that LEA generated loadouts that alter uniforms don't work if you have show briefing enabled. As a temp fix you can make a !isMultiplayer condition trigger in the editor that adds the uniforms to the units or set "briefing = 0;" (or remove the line altogether). This doesn't affect multiplayer (surprisingly). Vote up here.
  23. I have actually found an odd bug with addUniform in SP if briefing = 1; is set in description.ext. None of uniforms would apply with LEA. If briefing was set to 0 it worked fine.
  24. No, I haven't noticed. Also, don't forget the bar for releasing has been set a lot lower with workshop. You can do it with a few clicks and done. Before you'd have to go through AH or some other host and make a post to get noticed. Rinse and repeat for updates. That's more effort than it's worth to beginner creators and users. So yeah, there's a lot more junk because there's simply more released. There's less quality on average.
  25. But it's already here? http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?166433-SP-MP-BeCTI
