  1. A possibility if you are playing single player is to use Zues AI mod, you can make your own adjustments to the AI, maybe this could help? http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=22677 This will really help when playing with peoples missions from Steam Workshop as most of the skill's of the AI would be set up by the mission maker.
  2. brilliant stuff, would really like to talk to you Axek, maybe on teamspeak? its up to you, ill contact you via PM, very much a platform I would love to use.
  3. Your right controlling stuff does make it so there's less of it to go around, I personally feel that we will apply the right amount of control over what we consider the TacBF experience, but I don't see why others who are interested in other styles of gameplay can't create their own system. We aren't a game company we are a small group of modders who have an idea about what we enjoy, you will see that in the official servers, but for every other person who enjoys different styles (milsim, casual, hardcore etc) we will provide a platform and they can do the rest of the work. To give you an example, say if you wanted to use an island for a tournament, but that island hadn't been beta tested by us so it wasn't official. Well with our system you just implement the island and create the mission, and away you go, any issues that arise are your own to deal with. With a closed system you would have to ask to use that island, and I could refuse you to use that island just because we hadn't tested it and it would fall on us if there were issues, I also have to modify other items in my spare time just to allow that mod from TacBF. No thanks, I think we will follow the usual system that all mods take, and just have our version that we call our own, and allow others to do the same. Also the unofficial servers will break new ground quicker, they will try out more mods and find fixes for those mods if they aren't compatible, so it works both ways because an unofficial mod can become official due to unofficial servers. Overall the "TacBF experience" is an opinion, and everyone has a different opinion, so it's important to us to allow all those opinions combine into their own communities and not step on each others toes. I feel because of that ideal, we will allow more people to enjoy TacBF than just those with the same opinion as us, and I feel we will unite more people together than just a few 100 even if they have different seals they will still be waving the same flag.
  4. We will check servers often who are under the official branch name and also rely on players to report it too, so if someone does change either missions or mods without permission then they are listed as unofficial, if that group gains a reputation as being deceiving then we just wipe them off the list altogether. They will still be able to host servers but they won't get any support on our forums.
  5. We now have a facebook page so please like and get talking :) https://www.facebook.com/tacticalbattlefield
  6. Hey guys Been playing War Thunder lately as it seemed like a good idea, and its actually turned out to be a blast :) heres an excerpt from their website about the game. War Thunder is an MMO combat game dedicated to World War II military aviation, armored vehicles, and fleets. You will take part in all of the major combat battles, fighting with real players all over the world. War Thunder offers a highly detailed and personalized aviation experience, giving players access to hundreds models of planes with detailed cockpits, dozens of upgradeable weapons, and flying skills that can be honed and improved with each mission. Thanks to the game’s painstaking attention to detail, you’ll truly feel like a World War II fighter pilot as you plunge into battle. Give it a try and see what you think, and if you need any help just ask, im no veteran yet but I know some things which might seem confusing at first. Heres the link to the game http://warthunder.com/ Regards Dale
  7. This looks very promising :) can't wait, I know that this map would make for some great PvP, Best of luck with this as its a massive project and I hope everything goes well for you mate.
  8. In regards to Shacktak Fireteam HUD we have our own hud so we won't be using theirs. Mid Range Texture Replacement really depends on a lot of factors, we are concerned about the looks of the game sure, but we must more be concerned with the playability and gameplay aspects of such mods. Some examples would be FPS changes between computers (is it better or worse/whats the average between our population), and camoflage of course, if the units are more easily seen compared to the original Arma 3 system then this could also be a problem. Other mods such as JSRS and Blastcore must be consistent within the server, so either everyone or no one has it, this is due to gameplay factors again which could be unbalanced if people have different mods enabled.
  9. Agreed upon and we are working towards making the system more streamlined, also we aren't PR:A2 we are TacBF so nothing that happened in PR:A2 now has a bearing on TacBF, also the Beta Testers are hammering into us I guarantee you that. And unless you are able to see what's happening behind the lines I wouldn't make assumptions ;), because we are working on new systems and our own system currently is a lot more complex than you think, which will be improved upon and when it comes out for open beta it will be polished.
  10. Thats what will come next, currently we need to ensure that any problematic issues are sorted before we release TacBF to the public.
  11. Well with an I7 2600k and a GTX 660 Ti I get around 60 frames on Altis, but this is at around 10 beta testers, we are aiming for 100 players when we go public so I have no idea how this will affect frames. I have nothing to compare it to either so again I don't want to guess at an answer.
  12. Yes of course, our idea is completely different to PR's so we have a diversity in the community, which is nice because it gives people more choice.
  13. as soon as we can squash those bugs and get gameplay balanced nicely, we want to provide a variety of missions to start off, we also want to get half way towards getting the TacBF forums up and running as the 12th mech ones are just temporary so that people can talk and discuss etc, we are still implementing features aswell. Also now that Arma 3 is out we can say arma 3 is stable and that all content is out on stable branch, so we just need to focus on ensuring other mods are compatible with ours, some to discuss and look at are. Suppression by Enricksolt and VTS Weapon Rest by L etranger VTS Ballistic (server side mod) by L etranger We are also looking at other mods such as the Mag Repack by Outlawled. These need to be tested and ensure that they are compatible with TacBF but we hope to put these as part of the base gameplay.
  14. Its not a mission sorry, its a mod, we won't be releasing it till later :)
  15. looking forward to JSRS and Blastcore :D will go well with TacBF
  16. :/ lol I hope you mean success and not zombie survival thriller! :D
  17. @Kable: the main reason we focus on PvP is due to our system, also a lot of us are mainly PvP players, I feel coop is better served being made by those who are passionate about it :) So essentially we would rather focus on PvP because we enjoy PvP. @smitherson69: The main differences will be that we use a different system to theirs, our current system is the one they used in PR:Arma 2, which they cannot use due to certain agreements between themselves and the original owners of the prior mods to PR (read Past Development). So now they are creating a new mod from scratch, and im sure they will be very different and diverse to our mod, of course you will see similarities such as the A&S system but these kind of game modes are everywhere so its usual to see similarities. In regards to joining up there are certain things which will not happen, in regards to fizzling and dying I do not feel that it did, PR:Arma 2 did very well with a game which was by then 3 years old and until DayZ came along was not as popular as it is today. Also we differ on community philosophy, for example to have a server you will need to sign a PR server license, although I can't say for sure as they could change this is common practice for the past, we on the other hand won't have server licenses so you can have a server whenever you want. But beyond what was common practice in the past I cannot say about PR's missions or mod, I hope they do well, and its nice to have variety in the gaming community! :) @mihikle shan't :P haha

    Reality Check

My entire post was in support of Bohemia, I would just hate to be releasing a game which is quite reasonable and it be a low point of my day, after all they did spend the last few months trying to fix the bits we requested. What I feel is that everyone is latching onto this with claws, and there is a point in pushing it too far, the people behind Bohemia will resent their actions from Arma 3 and so of course they will do it differently next time. And I am in no way saying Bohemia now will turn in to an EA, but as people come and leave BIS the things of the past will be forgotten, if they stopped doing open alphas and betas in the next game (theoretically) it would be a first step towards BIS going back into a shell. But all your going to do for an argument is quote cartoons and try to insult me, and act like you would hump jesus even if he inserted metal caltrops up there. And no im not going to be quite on what I feel is a crass thread, just in the same way you won't.

    Reality Check

BIS has done what their community asked them to, I hope we don't put them off doing public alphas and betas in the future, otherwise we will have taken a step backwards as a community. And then both BIS and us (community) will lose. Also just a comment on the copy paste stuff, if you didn't expect copy and paste in a game with Arma and a numerical identification after it then maybe you should go play COD series for a while to understand that the same name and a number after it usually means its got similar assets in it to the last one. But at least BIS have the nice side and are actually letting us use Arma 2 in Arma 3, if this was any other company they would make you buy everything again. So please can everyone now cut out this nonsense, you can have a total of 3 games(Arma 3, Arma 2, Op Arrowhead) with 3 DLC (BAF,PMC,ACR) and thats all before Arma 3 is even out. If you disagree with me go and play BF3 in BF4 or COD 10 in COD11, or maybe Total war games all combined together, whats that? you can't? in any other game out atm? don't get me wrong I disagree with using assets between factions but theres a much bigger picture here and your all apart of it, don't f up what weve got otherwise BIS will just turn into all the other game companies and make you pay through the nose just to get a scope for your rifle.
  20. The devs from both companies mix into both titles, agreed though that they have different core staff.
  21. Another possibility could be that they made loads of 3D models but they weren't implemented into the game, it takes two to tango, 3D modellers do mostly just that, they don't for example implement them into the game. I wouldn't be too quick to pull apart what none of us understand, BIS could have brought in loads of contractors to do lots of things, they could be just 5 people working on the game. You never know who's fault it could be, the biggest problem BI have atm is definitely being overworked, too many projects and too little time (VBS 3 [mostprob], Take on Mars, Arma 3, DayZ standalone, Arma Tactics?) those are the ones we know about. And this is with a small team, too much all too fast, their attention is all over the place. Hopefully as time goes by they will be able to complete projects and refocus on other stuff, but it seems that they have been able to acquire a lot of money and all those projects they have wanted to do for a long time have now just surfaced, and clearly they can't keep up.
  22. Ah thanks mate. Couldn't find any info on it, I generally just browse the sitreps. I hope they bring out Arma 2 rearmed soon after the initial Arma 3 release, should be enough content then to keep people happy, and All in Arma is great, hopefully kju can now fix tanks flipping on themselves now that hes got access to the other tank configs :D.
  23. http://media.pcgamer.com/files/2011/07/Arma-3-41.jpg (279 kB) Im lost where did this Jet go? Tonic you meant this?
  24. We wont run mods because the base game isn't finished, so we definitely aren't going to use mods, focus on fixing the game first. We have all 3 years or more before they bring Arma 4 (going on releases) out to test and play around with mods, I don't see why we can't focus our attention on Arma 3 so that when it comes out its ready, if we all started using mods imagine what kind of mixed messages the devs would be getting. So calm down and be patient, when Arma 3 is out there will be lots of modded servers, and it will keep rising as more mods come out.
  25. This hopefully won't be the final vehicles etc that they dish out, when I say final obviously I mean after release date, I can't wait for Arma 2 rearmed either which should bring in old content with a new sheen which will be nice. For me I think the Arma devs have been focusing more on cleaning up Arma optimising it and generally making it work how they expect it to, for me this is in part due to the open alpha and beta which we never normally get, for anyone whos been following the series from Arma:Armed Assault to Arma 3 will understand that this game won't be full of content but more fixing of the old stuff which sometimes just didn't work and a well rounded implementation of the new content. We will be getting so much content from mod makers and hopefully in the future we will get expansions and DLC for Arma 3, I would rather them focus on making what they have amazing and actually work, than focus on building multitudes of turrets and weapons and release a game like Arma or Arma 2 (no offence BIS). Finally I feel like on release date we will have something that we can actually play from the get go.
