    British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update

    I hope the next DLC's will be the original OFP/Arma1 content. Would be awesome to play some old school OFP battles. I suppose it will be fairly easy/quick for them to do also. Personaly I'm gonna pass on this one, kinda dislike UK weaponry for some reason. That is when there aren't any engine updates with this DLC, if there are I probably have to adept it to. Prize tag seems to be fair to.

    Did u check that when ur controller gets back online the setting is to custom mapping gain, or does it fallback to the default setting?
  3. I received 2 emails. The 1st contained a list of email adresses (aprox 50 orso) in the recipient field. Also that mail had the faulty content as described by johney. A short time after a second mail with a clean recipient field and normal content. It was good to see most people use anonymous mailboxes (gmail/hotmail/etc) anyways, so no harm done :)
  4. Lol @ the way Sprocket makes all the email adresses visible of their mailing list, i know certain spammers would love it :/
  5. It should still work in Arma2 Combined Operations. Although only on islands which actually uses the A2 plants/buildings etc. Not in the new OA maps, they have their own decorations.

    Just pre-ordered my copy tru Sprocket. Early access and the place BIS get the most rewards out a sold copy. Lets hope the download goes quick tomorrow :)

    To bad it seems there can't be a decent discussion between different point of views in here, without posting lame pictures and resorting to power terms like retarded etc. I thought this was a so called mature community. Doubt BIS is waiting for this kind of feedback

    Didn't read the post above but my 2 cents. If paying for DLC means higher quality add-ons and more manpower on this franchise, I'm more then willing to buy them. But there are some concerns which BIS should think about With more 'official' add-ons there is change that the community (especially MP) will be more divided. Servers requiring certain paid addons which the clients don't have can result in even more closed MP. Also the fact that they are gonna release more 'official' add-ons will make the mod community less fun. For instance if BIS is releasing a UK infantry pack there is bound to be mod team without a job. Over time i can imagine this being frustrating. I hope that BIS will adopt the mod community and try to get their add-ons into the official releases and reward them for their work. For instance with the proper development tools or plain old dollars, although i know this is wishful thinking.

    Personaly i find there is more advantage from a digital instead of a hardcopy, and its pretty easy to convert a digital to a hardcopy by just burning it to a dvd. - no cd checks - alot better for the enviroment - easier and quicker access (if u got a decent inet connection) The only disadvantage of digital copy is the limit their distributors make on the times u can activate the key.

    This is a awesome campaign. - Great story/perspective and worked out nicely with cut scenes - Balanced missions with fast action - Not encountered any bugs even playing it with Ace and other mods As said earlier the only thing lacking are voices. I hope this is planned and that people step up and support u with it. I would if i didn't talk English that bad :)

    What i would like to know is what the precise performance gain is between a dual and a quadcore(same clocks,cache and instruction sets). Are the latest beta making full use of the 4 cores and how does this translate performance wise?

    Always wanted to try this out but I'm to cheap to spend 150eu on it or to lazy to make my own hat clip. So this will give me an opportunity to test this kind immersion. Greatly appreciated and will give some feedback when I get home and test it on a default xbox360 web cam.
  15. From some testing i like this setup the most: TRSM for all the vehicle sounds HIFI for enviroment, effect and weapons Makes the game 2 time as immersive

    Can I play the SP scenarios with a friend?

    Unpack the mission (depbo), place in userfolder so u can open it in the editor. In there u can make existing other units playable or just place some extra. Pack it up again and place it in mpmissions.

    the fixes they currently working on are probably to obscure to describe in a change-log. The fact the devs are interested in performance changes makes me think its probably in that area they are working on, atleast i hope so

    Those 2005 Infantry looks very nice. I was looking for a good replacement to use in A1 missions/campaigns, think i found it. Can't wait to test it out.

    ArmA2 / OA (low) performance issues

    IMHO there are 2 performance aspects to ArmA2 Graphics Purely handled by the GPU (besides lower setting shadows). On this area ArmA doesn't require to much. Sure to have all eye candy on HD resolutions u need a decent card but with lower settings mid end cards perform pretty decent. Test it by just opening a island in the editor with no AI etc. General processing Where ArmA differs from the average shooter is in CPU usage. The fact AIs aren't scripts but genuine routines and ballistic calculations have to done etc, requires the most of even the highest clocked CPU's. It seems these calculations results in big framerate drops, which in some way is weird i agree (as in it should result in slower reacting ai and that kind of stuff instead of framerate drops). Think this is one of the downsides of the engine BIS is using for quite some time now. But this is just based on my experience over the years, of course i could be mistaking here.
  22. In my experience this patch runs a little slower, got some occasional stuttering to, which I didn't see since 1.05 and SSD disk. It's not really worse just 1-2 fps in the benchmark missions. Still it isn't the improvement I hoped for. Glad to see the developers focus on these issues though, appreciated.

    Found some preview movies on the net and it looks very nice, it seems they fine-tuned the engine to as the movements and aiming was so smooth. Getting very curious what engine updates they implemented, any news about that? Also i would like to know how the distribution is gonna work out, especially the download version. Will it be on sprocket or are there other publishers releasing it in each country, like the german Arma2 version.
  24. The sound files are best in the wss format but can be in ogg to. The BIS editing Tools has a wav to wss converter onboard. First thing u should do is defining the radio in the description.ext file. Note that each conversation (text/sound) gets it own identity. Example: class CfgRadio { sounds[] = {}; class radiochat1 { name = "radiochat1"; sound[] = {"\sound\radio1.wss", db-40, 1.0}; title = "Place the text for radiochat1 here" ; }; class radiochat2 { name = "radiochat2"; sound[] = {"\sound\radio2.wss", db-40, 1.0}; title = "Place the text for radiochat2 here"; }; }; Next u need to make a trigger like described above and with a sideradio command for instance leader aP sideRadio "radiochat1";

    Great addon, this is perfect for the A1 campaign conversion i'm working on. I made a little CAA1/OAC replacement pack so that in all A1 missions these units will be the civilians. Theres one bug i need to iron out yet but if anyone is interrested pm me. BTW any plans on converting the other A1 units to like Marian Quandt, the news reader, and perhaps the special Queen Gambit civilians to, i could realy use those for the conversions.
