    RHS Escalation (AFRF and USAF)

Oh, how silly of me. I found it in the tank section (where admittedly it doesn't really belong). I also discovered an awesome glitch with the Sprut. After turning on the laser the gun barrel started elevating on its own, rotating through 90 degrees (that is, completely vertical), then farther until it started clipping through the back of the turret. Eventually the rotation exceeded 180 degrees in the Y axis and the gun pressed against the ground, flipping the vehicle. Then we started pole-vaulting around the map on the barrel, crushing sheep.

    RHS Escalation (AFRF and USAF)

I just watched PhanTactical's rundown of all the Russian units, and they appear to have two vehicles that I don't. Where is the Sprut and MLR BMD? I can't find them anywhere in the editor.

    RHS Escalation (AFRF and USAF)

I came to this thread to report bugs, so I'll focus on that and skip the gushing about how gobsmackingly incredible this mod is. Although I will give two thumbs up to the damage system for vehicles. HMGs are viable against APCs (something not even ACE could fix with regards to A2's MLODs), and the overall damage handling is far superior to the initial RHS Greenfor tank and APC release. However, currently it can be a bit predictable. Crew bails out, then is killed by the explosion that follows 4 seconds later, like clockwork. And thank you so much for making the Grad less laser-accurate! Anyways, on to the bugs. You guys should have a bug tracker if you don't already. It must be nigh impossible to keep track of all this content. *AK-74 has almost no 'zoom' in the sight picture, compared to all other rifles. This gives Russian soldiers an artificial disadvantage in ranged combat, as if they are nearsighted or something. *M240 magazines vanish when the gunner tries to reload. *M113 M2 sight has very bad sight picture and little zoom. Please replace with Offroad M2 sight if possible. *Russian SPG's thermobaric(?) round is very glitchy. It vanishes in mid air if you switch units, often explodes twice, etc. If you have two in the air at the same time, the second tends to blow up in the barrel. And the last time I tried to fire this doomsday device, it crashed my ArmA so hard I had to reboot. That NEVER happens in this game. Also, some of the other shells simply drop out of the barrel with no velocity. *And could you perhaps name the howitzer shells something normal? Russian doesn't have a letter W. Are you using the Polish designation or something else odd? *Infantry don't engage M113 gunner with small arms, as they do in A2. *BMD-4A tries to engage tanks (a T-55 in my case) with HE rounds, not cannon or ATGM. *Don't forget to add those RHS Static Weapons to Escalation! *Helicopters seem way too tough. A hind should not take a PCML round to the nose and keep flying nonchalantly. *Russian smoke grenades are labeled as frags. *Other small arms have the wrong calibers listed. *Many vehicle weapons are still very crackly, with distortion in the samples. *Grenadier loadouts should include more 40mm HE. *Ammo crates are insufficient in quantity of ammo. *Many soldiers (such as Russian light AT) complain of low ammo with default loadout. *GL slights could include more zoom for reading the range gradations. Also, are the unusable 12.7mm rooftop MGs and Russian APC gadgetry (the mortar, especially) WiP? I'm missing the firepower. Is there any chance of us getting a BRDM or humvees/trucks with HMGs mounted? I needs me some light recon. Is anyone planning to release an RPK-74, or maybe AKM for Russian special forces types? Will this update be posted on Armaholic at some point? Changelogs would help non-SiX users be aware of fixed bugs and prevent redundant reports.

    Killoch's MultiNational Pack

Any chance you would distribute Cyruz's custom weapon PBOs, Killoch? It took me half a dozen downloads to find a de-PBO program that actually works (just like it did the last time I tried it). And now I have these config.cpp that are apparently in gibberish with Chinese characters, and I can't find any tutorials on how to make them legible. Google promised that UnRap can turn them into readable text, but the conversion fails. And of course, I don't have a program to actually re-pack the PBO if I get that far. If you're not an established modder, it's like reinventing the wheel. Pretty frustrating.
  5. I think only about 15% of us ever get the chance to play decent modded PvP on a regular basis. Would someone please be a hero and add viewblock to the vegetation these guys are using? It's cruel to have such a gorgeous map rendered useless to the majority of players.

    Killoch's MultiNational Pack

Wow, my jaw dropped when I saw all those units. I was expecting just China, Russia and the U.S. But now I cup-half-empty situation, because I have all these equally gorgeous HLC weapons (M4s, M14s, AKs, FALs, G3s, M60s) and no one to carry them. How would one go about changing these units' loadout to use HLC weapons and ammo by default? I can't bear to listen to those silly vanilla weapons when there are such great modded rifles to be had. Russians need their kalashes.

    Ukraine General

Probably. Probably? Russian media accuses the Ukrainians of crucifying children and never even bothers to post a retraction. Basically the same standards of reporting as a jihadist mouthpiece that posts YouTube videos of car bombings. There is not the slightest bit of equivalence between Russian and Western media. None. The Western press is in a dreadful state, but that is a story for another time, because what's going on in Russia right now is just beyond the pale. Channel One makes the National Enquirer look like a paragon of truth.
  8. Do you have any artists or modellers? A lot of those wooden painted houses should be replace by the red brick huts that are common in this part of the world. I have plenty of reference pictures from just over the border in Rostovskaya Oblast that I could send you.

Damage system sucks - fix needed

All ShackTac PvP is now A3, so no.
  10. Agreed. It's a perfectly realistic outcome, as any number of true stories will attest. But it looks and feels wrong in ArmA. I'd say that 70% chance of falling would be enough. It would keep players on their toes. Right now I sort of exploit TPW Fall in CQB, knowing that any poorly-placed shot will allow me to easily finish off my enemy.
  11. If you don't want consistent falling, try using TMR instead. The alpha version includes a randomized falling function that behaves very similarly. If you disable TPW Fall, the mods will be totally compatible.
  12. It's surely a sign of the game's progression that most of the complaints can now be rebutted by the simple maxim: Learn 2 Play The weapon handling in ArmA has ALWAYS been too easy, resulting in lightning-fast firefights and excessive accuracy that destroyed the viability of real fire-and-maneuver tactics or suppression. I support the realism of outcomes, not chasing after the minutiae of gunplay that no mouse and keyboard can simulate anyhow. If you want your personal ideal amount of sway, go play paintball.

Damage system sucks - fix needed

The problem with hit reactions is that full-body mo-capped animations are required. Not just an idle animation, but something that influences movement and posture as well. The likeliest candidate wouldn't be the violent spinal spasm we have now, but a generalized jolt or recoiling motion. Left hands come the weapon, take a half-step back, etc. And that's as a minimum for non-wounding hits to body armor, unless you want to model the occasional "adrenaline-fueled-bullet-ignoring" reaction. Simply falling down should be the most common result. When people are shot in combat, they tend to assume that they are dead and act accordingly.

    Range Tables for Mortars

That mortar system is also missing a way to measure range on the map, for when there's no line of sight.

    Range Tables for Mortars

Arma3 actually gave us this, with the new LoS sighting system. It's just unfinished, since you can't change the charges of your shells.

You really think the EU is making tons of money off postage stamp Serbia? More like German money is going to pour into the country in an attempt to build the economy up to code.

    Range Tables for Mortars

Don't get me wrong, I know how to use ACE arty too. Just this evening I was scoring hits at 7km with large elevation differences, using the howitzer without a firing computer.

    Range Tables for Mortars

No, it really is. Every developer in the world would groan in dismay at that statement. Games are meant to be played. Sure, some features should have a learning curve and require dedication. But ACE's arty system (which I love to death and can't wait to see in A3) could never, ever be mandatory. And the notoriously arcane, newb-hating ACE team understands that perfectly.

    AK-74 vs M4/M16

The big debate is between AKM and M16, isn't it? The AK-74 has no appreciable advantage, unless you're short on cash and too lazy to clean. Other than that, the rifles are just really damn similar.

The dirty little secret is that no country Serbia's size is completely sovereign. But if you have to have a powerful, wealthy neighbor lording it over you, the EU is by far the best possible choice. Except for, you know, spite.

I don't understand why E. Europe missile defense exists in the first place, since it revolves around the installation of an ineffective system to protect against a non-existent threat. Iranian ballistic missiles over Poland? wtflol? The whole episode goes a long way towards disproving the Realist school of international relations, since everyone is behaving irrationally. No one in Eastern Europe has ever given two shits about Iran's nuclear program or capabilities. They just see it as a way for the U.S. to prove their commitment to the alliance by counter-productively pissing off Russia on their behalf. Sure, Russia has its perpetually butthurt panties in a twist over the issue, but when you are confronted with a violently hysterical person, you don't antagonize them just because you are in the right, especially when you have nothing to gain from it.

    Range Tables for Mortars

What beginner players? Let's play a game. PM 300 forum users at random. For every ACE-user that knows how to use the mortars, I'll give you a dollar, and you can give me ten cents for every ACE-user that doesn't.

And the Russian-made DCS series features campaigns in Crimea and Georgia. So what?
  25. Disclaimers aside, I played through the campaign with TPW and had no problems. Definitely disable skirmish, but nothing else should be missionbreaking. On the contrary, I never want to play ArmA 3 without TPW Fall enabled ever again. It's as essential as ACE was in A2, if not moreso. And a lot of the scouting missions in the campaign are pure drudgery without TPW adding some ambient vehicles in.
