So... what's your Steam mileage so far?
Steakslim replied to Simas's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
only 56hrs for me right now. Don't have much time during the week due to work hours.. -
....okay just to keep this thread from dragging on DayZ is getting it's own stand alone, there will be no port to ArmA3.

...but Muppet Babies taught me the power of my imagination could do anything...so long as it involved stock footage from old black and white films.... Does this mean dracula will be fighting the wolfman on Altis? -
There's a number of populated servers running the dev build. Recent hacking issue may have cause some people to do some server downtime until the fix is implemented in the stable build.
-
What became of the Dev branch update sticky? I figured an update occurred but I cannot seem to find the information on it. edit: N/M found it, didn't have to sense to check the News section.
-
at the time of that post the 4/26 build mediafire link wasn't working, in that post or op, it's all good now though.
-
Link is dead it seems.

Altis and Stratis on one physical map. What do you think?
Steakslim replied to mr.g-c's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
I like the idea, though the two islands would have to be much closer than their real life counterparts of course. -
....it is mp compatible. Just not all servers run the dev build, but there's a few that do.
-
I think i'm just repeating what has already been said that while it would be nice to see backblast implemented in vanilla, we will probably have to wait for it to be modded in like the previous ArmA installments. Then again BIS has surprised us with what they've added so far.

Terrain Improvement (dev branch)
Steakslim replied to NordKindchen's topic in ARMA 3 - DEVELOPMENT BRANCH
oh yes, this is getting up voted, great work. -
They are not intended exclusively for thumb over bore. It was more of an ergonomic solution to how people where using vertical foregrips like an oversized hand-stop. It's just featured mainly with thumb over bore because of Magpul Dynamic's marketing.

All in all so far what i'm seeing is excellent. Especially the stances retaining their positions while transitioning through the main 3, minus the prone stance resetting them as mentioned in the video. Look forward to messing with the alpha when i get home from work tomorrow.

Things you wish NOT to have in the game!
Steakslim replied to NeuroFunker's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
That's because there isn't, as far as I know there's no mod with working parallax simulation for red dot or holographic optics in ArmA2. -

What weapons/vehicles would you like to see in ArmA 3?
Steakslim replied to archaon98's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
more common in the military or civilian market? Because I do not see the military picking the juggerbrake up. Heard they work excellent as compensators none the less, so much they're working on release a non bench shooting model that doesn't over compensate for muzzle rise (the first release was reported to push the barrel down from center in some cases). -

You sure you don't mean those with Arrowhead and those without? -
Confirmed features now cancelled - your thoughts?
Steakslim replied to shephart's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I cannot recall but I'm gonna shoot for him saying not included in the release from the sound of things. Again it was determined not realistic since fast roping isn't really used all the much any more, but don't want to start that argument up in this thread. Again it may fall upon the modders and hopefully the newer features will allow modders to achieve better fast-roping simulation than what they've done in A2. -
Lag Compensation - Whats your and BI take on that?
Steakslim replied to Ceceli's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
never mind that mmo's often run multiple servers if I recall to handle the workload. -
Confirmed features now cancelled - your thoughts?
Steakslim replied to shephart's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
There was a video I believe where Ivan himself said that fast roping may not be included at release for a number of reasons, one of them being namely that it isn't realistic, which is true for the most part. That's not to say modders can't do it, not to say the duties to make such a feature should fall on the backs of the modders. -
