  1. Yeah, and the empty target version means they never plan to fix it! :j: Took a look at the priority of other 99% of the tickets and the default setting for the new tickets?

    Weapon tests

It's not quite black and white like that. Yes, as a player you can always lock onto things through the smoke, but it's not due to the fact that you can visually see the tank on your screen. Actual visual contact through the smoke for the humans depends on the distance and the particle video settings. It's due to the way the engine handles particles. The further away from the tank you are, your ability to "see through the smoke" will decrease to the point you won't see the tank from the smoke, but you'll still be able to lock onto it. Being close to the tank smoke with Low or Medium particle settings will allow you to "see through" the smoke, while with the High particle setting, there are enough smoke particles and it gets a bit too dense to visually ID the tank even at closer ranges. But when you are further away, even with the particles on Low, the tank will be fully visually hidden by the smoke. With Arma 3, smokes have finally become a "view blocker" for the AI. So the AI won't see through it. Apparently there is no visibility check for the lock on mechanisms. I'm not sure how the RL counterparts of Titan and NLAW lock onto targets IRL (Thermal probably?), so I do not know if this lock-on-though-smoke is authentic or not.

    Will 3D Scopes Be Corrected

The funniest thing to me about it is how it looks like the scope is a TV screen while you zoom in and while the bolt is being operated. :D You can see it around 0:55 in .

Marksmens and Helicopters is free ?

Best example would be something like what happened with the Arma 2 DLC's. Patch that got released alongside the BAF DLC added the "improved engineers" which could repair vehicles and whatnot. You could still repair vehicles with the engineers, even if you did not buy BAF itself. Patch that got released alongside the PMC DLC added the "improved shotguns" which simulated shotgun buck ammo better. The improved simulation of the buck ammo was there for everyone, but the content from the PMC in it's full glory was only available if you paid for the DLC. With Arma 3 something like this might happen: When the game is patched at the time Helicopters DLC gets released, everyone will get the TKOH flight model and it will be available on the base game choppers for free, but you will not get a few new helicopters or missions that they add with the helos DLC for free. When the game is patched at the time Marksman DLC gets released, everyone will get the "improved marksman simulation" (whatever it means) on the existing rifles for free, but if they add 50 new marksman rifles in the game, you'll only be able to get them if you buy the DLC.

    What limits the server?

The "delay" is a cap on the execution time of a script, if the engine thinks it's taking too long. Scheduler will then pause the execution of your script in the current frame, and continue it in one of the next frames, when there is room for it so it can't horribly affect performance. The intention of this is to increase the FPS when there's no time to execute those scripts, not to reduce it. I see no reason why that would be the FPS bottleneck.

    General Discussion (dev branch)

When you select "Scripted" it's the first one which is automatically selected. Combo box is not empty, it's just not showing any text for the LAND waypoint.

    General Discussion (dev branch)

It would defeat the point of the Dev branch, to catch all the bad things that can occur before being deemed stable. Also, I believe server hosts would throw a fit over the daily updates to the dev branch.

    Helicopter Feedback (Dev branch)

Very nicely put. While playing ToH, even with the most "newbie friendly" settings, I felt like I was flying a fragile bucket with a giant fan above my head that would crash at the first chance it got. While Arma provides me with safety and confidence in flying the helos because of that, even if the lift feels like slogging through a swamp. I understand the quirks of the Arma 3 helos and what to expect, and in general, it really feels like it doesn't want you to fail. Flying any mission in ToH that provided a range of height, speed or whatever and also required following a tight path (like the Airshow missions or certain Taki missions) was me just hoping that the thing won't fall apart or drop because of my insane maneuvers.

So, you stand by your logic of "PhysX did it", without any reasonable proof that it could be the case. While the opposite logic keeps pointing to the fact that they simply blocked the player input that's in charge of the control surfaces while the engine is off, quite possibly as a workaround for the backwards flying, as that kinda requires the engine to be off. Another target could have been the "nerfing" of the engines-off gliding so you don't show up hostile on the radar to other players. Turn the engine off and engage the autopilot, drain the fuel from an AI plane, they still have full control of the plane even with the engine turned off. I'd also love to hear a logical explanation as to why the same thing happens with the legacy flight model of the alternate aircraft simulation type which PhysX does not touch.

    General Discussion (dev branch)

I guarantee that the thing I asked about has nothing to do with PhysX. According to your logic, this would be an issue ever since Arma 3 launched if that was the case.

    General Discussion (dev branch)

While this fixes this bug, it seems odd to me that the planes becomes absolute bricks when engine is turned off or you run out of fuel. You can't even glide to safety anymore and the only option for survival is to eject in case your engines get disabled. I'm no authority on airplanes, but it seems like this wouldn't be the case in real life. Aren't there batteries to power the fly-by-wire systems or manual control of the control surfaces via hydraulics or something?
  12. There are no missions that require you to fly a plane or a helicopter in the campaign. There is a UAV, but you can fly that by placing waypoints. In the last mission of one of the endings you can choose to fly a chopper, but it's completely optional.

    End of Gamespy? For Real?

Arma 3 isn't just on Steam, it's already dependent (integrated) on many of it's services. Removing Arma 3 from Steam would already mean you have to remove Steam from Arma 3. Server browser is the drop in the ocean. For Arma 3, Steam is the DRM, the multiplayer authentication already relies on Steam, CD-Key auth, distribution etc. It's what Steam offers as a platform. It also offers multiplayer server indexing and matchmaking, but they're not using it right now. They're already attached by the hip, there's no going back without reinvesting in rolling their own solutions for all those services and detaching all the hooks from the game. Even if GameSpy did not die and kept being Arma 3 server index, if Steam died, they'd have to detach all the hooks from Arma 3 that are present already to make the game functional again anyway. Using Steams matchmaking service is logical because they're already using a ton of their services for the game. Instead of being reliant on Steam and GameSpy, the game will now only rely on Steam. BI isn't interested in making a server index, they're not interested in making a multi-million-user content distribution network, they're not interested in making the DRM, etc. They want to focus on the game, instead of all the little meta services. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say now that what you're concerned about has already been the case since the game was released.

    End of Gamespy? For Real?

Your entire car already talks to the dealership that your headlights would also talk to, ever since you bought it and you were aware of it. Headlights talking to the same dealer would make no difference, and would avoid the need for you to gut your car to remove the "talking to dealer" bit. You were fully aware that your entire car is talking to the dealership ever since you bought it and will for the entirety of it's lifetime. Manufacturer made that clear. Now they're adding yet another thing to improve your experience with the car, but to do so it requires it to communicate to the same dealership as it has been it's entire life. Yet now it somehow becomes an issue to you and you're asking of the manufacturer to gut the car and place new, in-house built insides.

    End of Gamespy? For Real?

"The headlights on my car have died, I don't see how just buying new headlights and replacing them is a better solution because they might die in the future too, I'll just build myself a new car."

    Download and install Question

You're not, that's how it works. Used to do it that way with my friend. Back in the day when we had data caps, our ISP placed steam backups of certain popular games on their servers where we could download them without it counting towards the cap.

It was just too much content. There's not enough programmers to support that many camo patterns. It might come back, but they won't promise you anything. Let's just say they might add a counter to the announcement when it might be coming back. There'll certainly be an SITREP, SPOTREP, OPREP, NOREP, BROREP before it's released tho to show how things are going, so no worries there.

    Switching weapons on the move

I used to, but if you look at the older posts in this thread, it proved unreliable as at times (it would do both BI switch and my switch or just BI switch), binding it to the mouse would be impossible. And a mixture of other reasons, some expressed in this ticket. Long story short, it would require a roundabout way of detecting and blocking the original action, dealing with the inability to natively handle multi-key combos, etc.

Facebook buys oculus for $2 Billion

    Damn it.
  21. It's a bad comparison. There won't be another Nolan Batman as it's a trilogy that's over. Even if he died, there'd probably be another movie. This Batman and this Batman are not the same. But the characters and events in Arma 3 have direct connections to the Arma 2 and TKoH events. I agree, the story is interesting enough to develop it further. I still stand by naive. Miller openly sabotaged the communications in Survive, sabotaged the FIA and treated them as the means to an end throughout Adapt, screwed over the FIA when the NATO arrived and left you for dead. THEN at the end of it all, when his team failed, they called you like a Rambo-lapdog to do their shit for them. Kerry proceeded to comply, without a single spec of doubt in his mind about what he's doing (Supported by the way he cuts off Crossroads after you meet James) and then Miller proceeds to tell him, after that entire "Zoinks, I'll take that superweapon you just delivered, you're irrelevant" dialogue, "Just stay here little doggy, I'll be back for you". And Kerry is bewildered when Miller doesn't. If that's not naive, I really don't know what is. He's capable of immense feats of leadership and Ramboism, yet he thinks like a dog. A confused person who has even a little bit of intelligence would probably consider, after retrieving the device, that he maybe should get some answers before deciding to outright hand it over. I also don't know how Miller can be painted a "good" guy after that. There might be an overarching story where this ending results in a "good" outcome, but as a character, Millers decisions and the way he treats and talks to Kerry, is nothing but douche behavior. Kerry is a dog and Miller is a cat. :D

    Arma 3 Region Restriction

Why? His friend gave him a key. He entered the key on Steam. Steam does not sell keys, therefore Steam did not sell the copy he's got, to him or to his friend. That's like me asking Steam to refund my copy of South Park which I got on GMG. Would you refund me something I did not buy from you?
  23. Sniperwolf572

    Arma 3 Region Restriction

Steam will refund in many cases, like mentioned above, but when you redeem a cross region retail key on Steam they neither will nor should refund you. They didn't sell you the game.
  24. Ben Kerry story goes like some sort of teenage movie where the hero can't take a hint. A guy with no clue about anything is abandoned by the big daddy and stumbles into a bunch of cool SF guys, who like him at first but then he becomes a nuisance. He proceeds randomly go out on patrols on his own instead of just making a montage, and thus he becomes the respected leader of the Altian guerrillas. When he returns home, his new clique refuse to talk to anyone but him. His daddy Crossroads has mixed feelings between treating him like a child he left behind who has no clue about anything and yet he still lets him take charge of his guerrilla friends and at times, he lets him drive his car instead of him. At the end of the story, our daft and naive hero spells it out to us how he has no clue what's been going on through his entire adventure. He's worse than the most spec-op brodude characters are, because he's insanely capable of incredible feats of leadership and courage, yet he can't put basic 2 and 2's together and refuses to question anything at any point.
  25. It would be nice to also see the story develop from the point of view of one of the Millers guys or Miller himself. Considering Miller was the lead character when Arma 3 was announced, we could see the original story of CTRG arriving on Altis, helping the FIA, relationships between Stavrou, Miller and Nikos being fleshed out. Then proceeding to tie into The East Wind by showing the CTRG point of view. Regrouping with Kerry, doing missions that they did in the background, to the final showdown at the "device" facility and the extraction.
