Frustration With Arma 2 Patches
NoRailgunner replied to chevy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Most if not all servers today are running CO (A2 + OA). Check the programs/apps which are linked to open/extract "zip" files and maybe revert these to default Windows settings. You can also download + use a pack tool like 7z - http://7-zip.org/. After you un-packed/extracted the zip files - click on "Arma...Update_....exe". :) -
How important are cockpits, crew stations and vehicle interiors in games?
NoRailgunner replied to NoRailgunner's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
@DMarkwick what about new vehicle interiors in Arma which do look at least so good that people won't dislike/avoid them? Highly doubt that DCS like cockpits are needed or wanted - just interiors where players do feel like sitting in a MBT, IFV etc. What do you need a vehicle for if you can't enjoy using it? Does it feel authentic if you have to use 3rd person view just to avoid the quick'n'cheap 1st person view? Imo gamedevs should take their time to play their projects/games on their own and be critical about where does one feels kinda detached from the atmosphere/immersion. -
Face masks - many of them are custom-made and used to protect one against dirt, wind and sun.... and perhaps keepin it a secret who is behind that mask aka face recognition.

Doubt US will send in troops more likely there will be an increase (small) arms weapon deals and perhaps adding some more AT/AA launchers. It has been said that Syrian Army used Sarin on small scale /areas but there was no reliable proof because of the situation / chaos. Its easier to blame one or the other side for example using chemical weapons on small scale operations if there is no chance to figure out who did what and when. Guess there is a lot of money involved to keep a war running and a lot of profit to make with re-building infrastructures etc after the war....

ARMA 2: OA beta build 106400 (1.62 MP compatible build, post 1.62 release)
NoRailgunner replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Testing this betabuild in vanilla A2OA with E08 benchmark mission (Takistan) - errors/bugs in arma2oa.rpt and and and guess the old sound issues will remain in A2OA forever eg and -
Slatts ze Beerlands got different Pilsner beer styles - most known are Czech-style "Pilsner Urquell", "Staropramen" and German-style: "Jever", "Veltins" and "Warsteiner" - of course you need to taste them all to find the one or two or three you like! Sorry no shortcuts can be made - please start with "Pilsner Urquell" !! Livestream "Slatts is tasting all Pilsners" would be great.... :D

WW2 is "done" in games - especially all popular battles. Gamedevs can only find some less popular but also important battles and try to convince people about the setting. Wars and battles were US didn't loose or withdraw a kinda difficult to sell to the bigger audience - except if players can win them and change history. Jungle warfare sounds nice but from WW2/'Nam reports it was hell - are BIS gamedevs able to get the temperature + high humididty into A4 without getting it too much look like overdone camera/filter-sfx? How many people will cry + moan that they can't see the enemy through the foliage of the jungle? How many will accuse others (incl. AI) of cheating?? How performance-friendly is a awesome looking jungle environment and how much can one put in before its stutter/lag?

Cold War Rearmed² - Public Beta
NoRailgunner replied to W0lle's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Did OFP CWC/RES had such anti-air SAM vehicles or were they added later by addon/mod makers? Imo focus should be/stay on getting all the CWC/RES memories + feelings into A2OA as soon and smooth as possible. Btw thank you for update + hope you your take some time for an little R&R in one (or all?) of those pubs on CWR islands. Can't stop flying the Cobra.... :) -
SOPA - Internet as we know it about to be gone?
NoRailgunner replied to gammadust's topic in OFFTOPIC
Of course there are only visible and physical-violent methods of silencing people.... Damn media/interwebz such accidents should not happen - showing that independence & freedom lovin western politicians using "terrorism" as universal excuse for to put every citizen under general suspicion. Better not talk to your neighbors, colleagues, friends and fans - just use all those social services for an easier infopool at your local datamining center. Oh and the next step will be that you can leave all your doors and windows wide open - even when going on vacation! Good guys share everything - bad guys lock or hide things. :) -

NoRailgunner replied to gammadust's topic in OFFTOPIC
Its simple and very comfy to take care only about your own ego and unless there is nothing big happen in your own backyard its just happen outside and 'its good against bad people'. People feel even good if the next new bar will know what kind of drinks and music they prefer - no need to know why and how those informations even got there. Its the 'share without care' attitude and for some people it has no flaws and no downsides. -

Guess PRISM is just one of many spying/data-mining software tools, what about use of other intrusion systems like FinFisher etc? Sed quis custodiet ipsos custodes? -
DayZ SA seems to be nice about new building interiors and "loot possibilities" but the combat system and Zombie attacks look bad. Seems that there is still no chance to get a proper melee fight or smoother animations in to battle Zombies and/or players in very close range. What about the gameplay and the primary/secondary task for players - or is it just the simple do-whatever-you-like/shoot-everything-on-sight DM style again?

Take On Mars - New BIS Game
NoRailgunner replied to purepassion's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
Oh look another quick'n'cheap cashcow just without AI and with a wide open nothing desert to roam around find loot erm amazing collectables and other funky stuff. Sure fanboys will like it anyway without having to test it any further and brown-nosing moderators will become the norm (like CM forums had them and other still have). -
Arma4 will most likely have achievements, rank/level/skill-ups by increasing killstats etc eventually hardcoded. Of course if you don't like to spend too much time with training your new A4 MMO char - you can buy all the things in the ingame store - available for a little service fee & subsription payment (minimum time of subscription is six month). Of course you will need a permanent 24/7 online connection be it for mp, sp or just doing stuff in the editor. If you critise A4 or dare to oppose fanboys your account and game access will be deleted without further investigation/approval by moderators (recognizable by their brown noses). But maybe A4 will turn out different because BIS didn't disappear into one of the big majors companies/publishers dungeons. Maybe BIS will go + find their own way without making Armaverse more arcady and appealing to the casual crowd.... maybe something different, unique and perhaps Bohème??

"Take on QA - neverending work just for the hate from the project/dev team + customers!!" -
E3 2013 - battle of nextgen consoles buyers. Too much same of the same all over again just with better graphics and sfx. Finding innovative, new and fresh ideas is left for new gamedevs/publishers. All the others are holding on recreating or revamping stuff that was already there.... kinda similar like in the film business. Old wine in new skins. Rinse and repeat until no more profit can be made...

[Suggestion] Driving vehicles without to press a key constantly
NoRailgunner replied to Michaelp800's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
-=seany=- find all of the A2OA vehicles incl. civilians which did have an working "cruise-control" at that time! What is with the other points like damage, terrains etc - should the "cruise-control" work in any way or should it get damage too?? -
[Suggestion] Driving vehicles without to press a key constantly
NoRailgunner replied to Michaelp800's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Now just think about how many of those vehicles in A2OA would even have the "luxury" of setting up speed/acceleration... How fast or slow should vehicles drive and players walk on auto-mode? Should there be differences by vehicle, terrain, damage, weather, weight, stamina/health? Should there be also an backward driving/walking-auto mode too? A2OA is pretty much "done" and waiting for its "final" patch - meanwhile BIS devs are already working full steam on new projects like A3, DayZ SA and some other surprise game project. Highly doubt that such an auto-drive/acc. feature will make it into next A2OA patch - maybe and more likely it will get into A3. I don't think that you will get any serious health issues by pressing a key for a little longer. -
Balancing - what is wanted for a great experience?
NoRailgunner posted a topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
Just curious what people think what is more important in a milsim (or tactical milshooter) and why: a) more realistic + believable assets per faction/group or more balanced + equal assets per faction/group? b) Some unique features/technologies for each side or just all the same/similar for everyone? What makes you enjoy the game and perhaps replay missions?? -
Balancing - what is wanted for a great experience?
NoRailgunner replied to NoRailgunner's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
Well roleplay is up to players themselves otherwise the game has to limit and restrict them into certain roles eg soldier/weapon classes and rank/leader system. Think there are many MMO shooters out and it doesn't make so much sense to jump on this bandwagon just to for the sake of trying to get a piece of the MMO shooter cake. -

NoRailgunner replied to Michaelp800's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
What about adding "auto-kill" or "auto-shoot" just in case you were too lazy to deactivate auto-drive, auto-steer, auto-run, auto-walk, auto-fly/maneuvre, auto-jump, auto-glitch/cheat/hack/teleport/spawn.... ?? What even about a auto-play/game so you just can watch and twitter/reddit/stream it so people can auto-like/dislike your very own auto-gameplay? :D -

Why not "Take on Elite": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elite_%28video_game%29? Something where all the things can be re-used and merged into a new alternate "BIS"-verse. :P -

Well isnt' it bad if mission designers don't care much about the details and placing stuff on the island/map just to be equal by the numbers? Such missions are imo only somekind of quick skirmishes or simple "horde blue vs horde red" mode/DM. Its up to the mission designer to place certain units in a certain place and its up to the players to choose their own plan of attack/defense. Guess if the opponent has a better asset in a certain place its up to players to find a way to make it ineffective eg find a way around and/or ambush+destroy it. How many missions are worth to be (re-)played just because players like to figure out the right tactics/strategy against an "superior"/more advanced opponent? -
CBA: Community Base Addons for A2, OA and CO
NoRailgunner replied to killswitch's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
maxx2504 try other settings eg: Texture on "Normal" , Terrain on "Normal" ; Object details on "Very High" ; Shadows on "High" (= GPU does the job) ; HDR on "Normal". Try first without any addons/mods and don't put them into your default A2OA "AddOns" folder!! Read and follow the description in the readme.... there is a reason why people spend their 'time, sweat and tears' to write them down. -

What about different research & developments, strategies and use of more advanced technologies vs ingame balance? For example: one side does have a fire-and-forget AT system and the other just got a wired/laser system. Should groups/factions + their assets in games be balanced just for the sake of fun or is it even more enjoyable to find solutions and win against so called "imba" assets?
