This. Dslyecxi's video also summed it up pretty well. Helicopters need to stop exploding at the drop of a hat.

ARMA 3 RotorLib Suggestions by Black Viper
maddogx replied to BlackViperGaming's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I was going to move this thread into the dev branch forum, but there is no actual feedback here (apart from Dslyecxi's video, which has already been posted in the appropriate feedback thread) and your question was already answered in yesterday's SITREP. Please take the time search before posting and post in the proper place. -
So desired but very disappointing game that you have ever played?
maddogx replied to MarutiaOrtia's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
Well, I just found my example: Sacred 3. All I had seen before today was a trailer, and that looked pretty good. I was pretty much expecting another Sacred 2 but with better graphics, which would be totally fine with me. Dropped 150€ on three copies - for myself, my girlfriend and my sister - in pre-order and we were planning to start playing it together today. We did the same a few years back with Sacred 2 and had a blast. Then, literally minutes ago, I decided to check out some reviews... and died a little inside. No loot / inventory system, no open world gameplay, bland linear levels, shitty UI design and generally shitty game design choices all around. According to RPS, it's essentially a mindless button basher that has absolutely nothing in common with the previous games. Does anyone have any experience with refunds on Steam? If so, please PM me. I know they issue them in rare cases. -
Locking enemy inventory
maddogx replied to DroopyPiles's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Alternatively, you could use the InventoryOpened event handler. The second parameter is the "container", so you could check that against a list of "allowed containers". Not sure what is passed when the player opens his own inventory, probably either null or the player object. -
Infraction for trolling incoming... ;) (Just kidding. Moderators can't even give devs infractions.)

Agreed. Surely there must be a better compromise than "almost back to zero".

Recent dev branch logs always points to a Chinese element picture link, guess what?
maddogx replied to lao fei mao's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Okay, since the original question has been answered and this thread is derailing into an off-topic discussion of politics/economics, I'm going to close it. Feel free to continue in the off-topic section. (I can move your posts there on request.) -
ArmA II on GreenManGaming - How to migrate?

Link to trojan-riddled key changer removed. Thread temporarily closed. -

Master Lord Joris = Joris Jan van 't Land = DnA (the ARMA 3 project lead), who is currently on holiday in Asia. (Not sure which country.) If you look back through the dev branch changelog, you'll find other instances of this. Generally, when DnA isn't there, either RiE or Pettka will post the day's changelog and include a comment on DnA's absence. -
Why couldn't all the modders work together, and make something better than ACE
maddogx replied to Ckrauslo's topic in ARMA 3 - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
And your posts are anything but. Please either participate in a sensible fashion or not at all. -
That article links to this page as a source. At the top of that page:

To expand on that, from what we know the RTD flight model will be a difficulty option. Generally you will be able to choose which flight model to use, but it will most likely be possible for "hardcore" servers to enforce RTD, similar to 3rd person, crosshairs etc.

Ideally they should adjust the "length of stride" (is that what it's called?) instead of speeding up the animation, but that would require some IK magic.
-
One of them would be me. ;) Btw. what Grumpy Old Man said seems to be quite valid. If there is nothing CPU-heavy going on in the game, it's no wonder if certain worker threads have nothing to do.

Boats seem like a very logical place to implement this feature, and their cargo (passenger) seats are functionally no different than those on other vehicles. So there's no reason why this shouldn't happen. :)

Good point. Merged. Same, even though I originally saw this just five minutes after it was posted. :)

Battle-Eye and servers owner custom anti-cheats can suck :[
maddogx replied to cooljacob204's topic in ARMA 3 - MULTIPLAYER
Custom anti-cheat measures cannot detect any processes running on your PC. (Unless you intentionally downloaded and installed some third party executable, though I don't think anyone has made such a thing.) You were most likely banned by BattlEye and the ban was propagated to other servers. Server owners are within their rights do this, and discussing it here won't change anything. If you want to appeal your ban, you should contact the server owners directly. -
I've been asking myself the same thing. Endstar joined the team two months ago and apparently he worked on PhysX rope stuff before. The connection seems obvious.
-
VBS and/or speculation on feature-sharing is not the subject of this thread. Please take this line of discussion elsewhere.

It would be great if you guys could set up an "official" dev branch testing server, similar to the other PERF/PROF servers. :) That way you could get the data straight from the source - just make the IP/port known and people will come.
-
That is exactly what they did. The fatigue system deployed on the main branch last week was on the dev branch for ~2 weeks before that and no one complained (to my knowledge). It was only after it was deployed to the main branch that so many people started complaining, so they have decided to scale it back now.

Indeed. Looking at the wording again, it's almost definitely something to do with sound. Hoping for proper real time reverb, attenuation filters etc. Expecting door sounds. :D It won't be limited to just helicopters: Earlier is always better, players are always leaving.... Though I would argue that some of those players may come back when the expansion arrives. ;)

Firing from vehicles is pretty much confirmed to be coming along with the Helicopters DLC. (They have now mentioned it repeatedly in blogs/sitreps.) A "fully featured 3D editor" based on the work they have done with Zeus was also mentioned as a possibility, albeit not until the expansion pack next year.
-
Probably something that has already been announced as part of the Helicopters DLC. My money is on "shooting from vehicles".

The video shows what happens if you try to make accurate shots immediately after sprinting more than 100m. Bouben's entire point is that snipers shouldn't be doing that, so the video proves nothing does not contradict him at all. Indeed.
