Thanks, it worked no problem. I have another question. I am finally getting rid of my ancient piece of crap PC from 2003. I was going to build my own but I have changed my mind. I came across this PC in Costco for 583.98 GBP. HP - Intel Core Quad Q8200 2.33GHz - 4GB DDR2 SDRAM - 1 TB SATA 3GB Hard Disk - DVD Writer SATA - ATI HD 4650 1GB - 20" Screen How would you rate that? Is it a good deal? I was also thinking about this one: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-067-OE&groupid=43&catid=1184&subcat= This one: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1722296828.1244835854@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccceadehhfigjeicflgceggdhhmdgmk.0&category_oid=-35614&sku=752419&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null Any other sites where I can get more bang for my buck? I am not looking to spend more than 650GBP, could stretch it up to 700 though. I was looking at one site last week and it let you pick a category where you could modify a basic build (such as Gamer - Basic) I swear that was Overclockers but I can't find that page.

As I was switching off the desktop I chose to install the updates that have downloaded. It went to the blue Windows XP screen which shows you the progress of the installation. It's been stuck on "Installing update 5 of 11...Do not turn off or unplug your computer; it will turn off automatically." It has been like that for two hours now. I have no idea what the update was, however. Can anybody help? Windows XP SP3 P4 2.66GHz Nvidia 7600GS 512MB 1 GB RAM

The expenses scandal is a party wide thing. The Conservatives had their hands in the pie too, and are just as bad as Labour if not worse. Labour is taking most of the flak but most folk don't like any of the parties after they found out about the scandal.

I don't think they are the same. Metaboli charges 39.99 while Peter Games charges 49.99 for ArmA II. -

I gave into temptation and purchased ARMA 2 from Metaboli last night. Woke up this morning and the key was in my inbox, currently downloading the game. Can't wait to try it out. -
Nice to see these converted so soon W00le. I'll be trying them out once A2 gets released up here.

There are far more obvious bugs according to that review. Still doesn't add up. Things like GFX bugs would have been noticeable in the preview versions. -

I don't get it. If it is that bad now then why did the earlier previews never mention any of it? Same goes for the 505 event. If the bugs are that bad surely we would have heard from earlier previews? Doesn't add up. -
The new binocular system is pretty good. If anyone is interested I picked out a list of desert vehicles to go with the desert islands. They are just BIS addons re-textured as they don't take up a lot of HD space, fit with the rest of the standard vehicles and don't have balance issues like other more complex addons do. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=72840

I remember seeing a video a while back and I am sure it was some type of 3D editor but maybe it wasn't. Anyway, just because there was footage of it doesn't mean it will be included. I'm sure stuff gets cut quite a bit because of various reasons.

Troll says what? Anyway, that video gamer article was quite positive and had a couple bits of new information. -
I can access ofp.info fine.

Thanks for the preview, Foxhound and Rock. It was nice to see ArmA 2 from people who know ArmA and OFP. -
Anybody have a working mirror for the Delta Island update and the mission pack? I keep getting 404s on Hawkins's site. Nevermind, the links are working now.

IMMORTAL FORTRESS. a look inside Chechenia's warrior culture

The chance of Georgia winning was very small, Russia's victory was almost inevitable but to label it as "easy" overlooks the deficiencies experienced. http://www.carlisle.army.mil/usawc/Parameters/09spring/mcdermott.pdf However, there is no doubt that the Russian forces have advanced far beyond the disorganisation of the 1990s after the collapse of the USSR. http://www.carlisle.army.mil/usawc/Parameters/09spring/mcdermott.pdf Russia did win but they lost an awful lot of planes for such a short operation. http://www.javno.com/en-world/georgia-war-shows-russian-army-strong-but-flawed_174011 There was also a lack of sophistication during the opeartion unlike Western armies. http://www.javno.com/en-world/georgia-war-shows-russian-army-strong-but-flawed_174011 http://www.carlisle.army.mil/usawc/Parameters/09spring/mcdermott.pdf A Google search will reveal a number of articles dealing with the performance of the Russian military. Here are a few: http://www.carlisle.army.mil/usawc/Parameters/09spring/mcdermott.pdf http://www.javno.com/en-world/georgia-war-shows-russian-army-strong-but-flawed_174011 http://www.armchairgeneral.com/assault-on-georgia-exclusive-military-analysis-on-south-ossetia-conflict.htm However, we are way off topic. -
Thanks. I have just went through them all and put up the best ones, however, some have modified characteristics from the stock BIS ones so there are going to be balance issues. I don't know about addon editing but I think config changes will fix them. There are also a number of addons that don't have desert versions such as the M60. I would love to re-texture them to a desert camo scheme but I don't have a clue where to start on that.

Sanctuary's WW4 mod is the main OFP mod I am using. I love the desert units and the new desert Malden with the Libya vegetation. I don't really like using the standard woodland camo vehicles on the desert environments. I know there are addons like COMBAT! which are great but they require a lot of addons and take up a lot of HD space. I am looking for BIS vehicles and aircraft's re-textured into a desert camo scheme. What are the best of these? I already found this Desert 5t Truck pack: http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=6254 AH-1: http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=2471 (Equipped with 2 Stingers, possible balance issue) AH-64: http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=2472 (Equipped with 2 Stingers, possible balance issue) Chinook: http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=2474 Kiowa: http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=2476 Mi-17: http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=2477 Hind: http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=2478 There are a bunch of desert armour addons and vehicle addons but there doesn't seem to be desert Urals, Bradley, M60 or UAZ. There are 3 Abrams addons by MAF, 1 with a crew addon (charcteristics not modified as far as I can tell) and two that are the same but have slightly different textures, however, these have changed armour, weapon values etc. Here are some more. East Desert Armour Pack: http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=2854 (Simple re-texture, vehicle characteristics not modified) Desert M113: http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=2867 MAF Desert HMMWV: http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=2821 MTL Desert/Winter Jeep Pack: http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=2829 Desert Pavehawk: http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=2414 (No FFAR version, characteristics modified, balance issues) Desert M1A1: http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=2840 Desert Vulcan: http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=2880 Desert BRDM: http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=2820 (Iraq camo scheme though) All of this just taking up 32MB.

Sorry to hear that Sanctuary, my condolences.

I believe it was mentioned earlier in this thread that CM confirmed there would be no 30km view distance.

If you don't care why make such an issue with the holier than thou attitude? Honestly, I couldn't think of anything more pedantic. Complete non-issue. Yet, you go on about how you are doing it the correct way when none of it actually matters, as OFP has been used by the community for years. You are neither right or wrong. People who use OFP are neither right or wrong. Nothing else to discuss. I didn't. I said to stop being so picky since OFP has been in use for years. It doesn't matter. Now you know. You haven't, which is clearly shown if you checked the link in my last post (I also quoted the part). Which doesn't matter in this case, for reasons mentioned earlier. If they are studying English I am sure they will survive. I am sure they will get past the obstacle of the community standard abbreviation. Doesn't seem so. Which leads me to believe you are just being pedantic for the sake of it. Hey, it's been a slow few days for me too.
-
None of it is correct or incorrect. OFP is a community standard and it simply will not change, there is nothing wrong with it. Me thinks you are intentionally trolling as abbreviating it 'correctly' never seemed to be a matter of 'professional pride' until now. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?p=1216684#post1216684 So lets just leave it at that and get on with what the thread is supposed to be about.

Those Red Brigade troops look great. Could use them like Kit Carson Scouts.

Oh for pete sake Baff stop being such a dullard, Operation Flashpoint has always been abbreviated as OFP. Thus Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising is OFP DR. OpF and OFP. Two very different zings. Simples.
