  1. Argh. I got a hot sweat just looking at all that red... Now I understand I'll go away and do some work of my own then :o
  2. toni: that tip was from me ;) I just checked and indeed the file you need (ArmA2OA.cfg) is in the same directory as your ArmA2.cfg (for me its C:\Users\XXX\Documents\ArmA 2) where XXX is the name of your PC. Maybe you're right - it might be different for Steam users. Any Steam users out there that can chime in on this?
  3. Ice: is this island going to be re-released with Berghoff's updated trees? (like Duala did)

    Campaign

Brilliant summary mate. Don't suppose you know any COOP campaigns do you?
  5. Crumbs! That sounds like a fairly show-stopping bug...
  6. If you're got a budget of $1500 then I'd suggest: CPU: Intel i5-2500k @ $220 HSF: big with 1, possibly 2, large fans, e.g. Scythe Mugen 2 @ $50 (Noctua NH-D14 very good but $90) Mobo: P67 from a good brand, e.g. ASUS P8P67 PRO B3 @ $140 GPU : GTX560 Ti or ATi 6950, e.g. MSI N560GTX Twin Frozr II @ $220 RAM: 8 GB DDR3 RAM, e.g. Corsair 8GB DD3 XMS PC3 12800 (2X4GB) @ $75 Storage: large (2TB) & fast (7200rpm) HHD, e.g. Western Digital Caviar Black WD2002FAEX @ $150 SSD: large (120GB?) & fast SSD, e.g. Intel 320 Series 120GB SATA II SSD @ $235 Optical drive: simple DVD burner, e.g. Samsung SH-S222A @ $20 PSU: Seasonic X-560 560W Modular @ $125 Case: Antec P183 @ $140 OS: Win7 64-bit @ $100 TrackIR: v5 Pro @ $150 Mouse: Logitech G500 @ $50 Monitor: decent 27" TFT @ 1920x1200, e.g. Samsung P2770FH 27 @ $275 Headphones: Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset @ $45 Joystick: Saitek X52 Flight Control System @ $90 Blu-Ray: burner, e.g. Lite-On iHBS112-37 @ $115 The stuff in italics is optional and in order of preference. Stable, quiet & upgradable PC that should deliver solid framerates @ 1920x1200 in most games and a great gaming experience in OA/A2. Any prognosis on its performance in A3 would be foolhardy, wishful thinking at the best.

    ARMA II Free LAG

What you should do is: a) Tell us what your in-game Video Settings are? e.g. Visibility: 1500m Interface: 1680x1050 3D res: 1680x1050 Tex: normal Vid mem: default Anisotropic: normal Antialiasing: disabled Terrain: normal Objects: normal Shadows: high Post-proc: low, possibly disabled Interface: Small Aspect: 16:10 b) Clean out the crap - I recommend CCleaner as it's free, light and efficient c) Defrag what's left - I recommend Defraggler as it's free, light and efficient d) Minimise your services - Gamebooster is your friend
  8. Weird. Not sure how we missed that one. Will give it a try this Wed (our weekly sesh).
  9. Thanks but we didn't find anyone IN the tower. We saw someone at the base who seemed to be waiting for us but when we approached he turned out to be a zombie. It was quite funny actually before it became frustrating... Is the contact in the tower's perimeter (at base but inside fence) or up the tower?
  10. Hi, after getting firearms at the first geo-cache we went postal and started mowing down our hunters. However that was a bad move as we were soon scratched and kicked to death. One of us struggled off up the hill to the radio tower but on getting there, he couldn't find what to do. Any hints?
  11. No-one suggested it should have been designed for Mando's benefit. However GossamerSolid pointed out and (I think) most would agree that unconventional configs are bad practice in programming and therefore aren't conducive to further development. And let's face it, much of BI's success rests on the efforts of modding community and BI's efforts to support it.

Small coop mission for arma 2

Not sure about A2Free's requirements but here are a few coop missions that work well with small squads (we only number 3-6p): CO08 Terror from the Seas CO13 Red Mercury CO10 Cipher CO10 Insurgent Airfield CO04 Airport Sabotage CO06 Behind Enemy Lines Hope that helps
  13. @gunso : get a decent gaming rig now because A3 won't be released for at least 12, possibly 18 months. Plus, if previous experience is anything to go by, it'll prolly take another 6-12 months of patching before it reaches a stable and optimised state. So basically you'll be stuck on your PS3 for 1-2 years!! So I'd recommend investing in a i5-2500k and GTX 560 Ti, with 4GB DDR3 RAM (I'm afraid that yours is prolly DDR2). Obviously you're going to need a new mobo too. That upgrade costs $550-600. Don't waste money on after-market cooling, powerful PSUs or anything marked "Gamer/l33t". I'm not saying they're useless but with a tight budget, money is better spent elsewhere. In the same vein, only consider a SSD once you've upgraded your CPU and GPU as they're the main bottlenecks in your system right now.

    [CAMP][CO] The Duality of Duala

This sounds awesome. I also vote for COOP. PM me if you need Brit or French voice-over.
  15. Indeed very promising mod. BTW any ETA on 2.6?
  16. Thanks but I'm running CO (guess I should have specified), so if I'm not mistaken then I should run @CBA;@SMK right?
  17. I don't understand why but this didn't work for me either. I have the latest version of CBA (0.75 RC1 IIRC) and I've disabled the First Aid Support Addon... Guess I should wait for the next version.
  18. Gutted to hear this because this is one of my all-time wishes. Ever since OFP I've wondered about the feasibility of mapping the isles. Then there was the fabulous Falklands Mod. But I understand the pressures of real-life... Plus your other stuff is so good.

    J.S.R.S. 1.5

I can confirm that JSRS triggers the following error message: bin\config.bin/CfgVehicles/TowingTractor/Sounds/Engine.frequency At the start of the Trial by by Fire SP mission. FYI I'm running CO.

    SLX Mod WIP

Given that SLX_NetCode has been identified as a source of errors, I'll probably remove it. However I am interested in running other pbos that that have a dependency SLX_NetCode. So if I remove SLX_NetCode, will SLX_Shout, SLX_Suppression_Effects and SLX_Wounds be disabled?
  21. This would be awesome. As without radios, I don't see how you could execute a covert operation unless you can whisper. Whispering/shouting adds so much to the atmosphere on the battlefield. Any ETA on the next release?

    SLX Mod WIP

In a previous post the following pbo were marked as sources on instability: SLX_GL3 SLX_GL3_GiveRadios SLX_ModWeapons_NoCrosshairs SLX_NetCode SLX_ShotEffects SLX_TankCommanderGun SLX_TankHatches SLX_VehicleEffects But what about these too? SLX_Anim_Swim <= problematic in hpp SLX_AISkill = problematic in hpp SLX_Melee <= depends on NetCode SLX_ModWeapons_3D_Optics SLX_ModWeapons_c Also what impact does running these 70+ pbos have on performance?

    User mission requests!

Has anyone created a mission or even campaign, where you could play (British?) special forces helping insurgents overthrow a national dictator? I think the current situation in a certain north African state would lend itself well to such a scenario for the following (well-documented) reasons: * small units of BLUFOR (4-6 per unit?) * BLUFOR is infantry but with access to CAS (EuroFighter, Rafale, Fire Scout) * BLUFOR assisted by local militia (badly trained, ill-equipped but very motivated) * OPFOR present in large numbers, professional soldiers with wide range of Soviet-era equipment (APCs, tanks, artillery, helicopters, aircraft) + armed pick-ups * wide range of missions : ex-filtrate nationals, meet local leaders in hostile environment, act as forward observer for air strikes, fight off attempts by special forces to sabotage strategic objectives (oil refineries, ammo dumps, ports, etc.), neutralise high-value targets? lead attack along highly-fluid battlelines, * strong emphasis on minimising collateral damage and staying within UN guidelines

VFAI - AI Extension - ARMA II

To get Zeus AI running nicely you need to tweak it a bit: 1. disable (stick em in a folder parallel to Addons) these pbos: zeu_FindCover.pbo zeu_GLx.pbo zeu_netcode.pbo zeu_sys_AI.pbo So you're left with these zeu_cfg_ammo.pbo zeu_cfg_core_ai_skills.pbo zeu_OA_c_ai_recognition.pbo zeu_OA_c_ai_rof.pbo zeu_OA_c_ammo.pbo zeu_OA_c_RocketBallistics.pbo 2. Increase AI for hostiles and friendlies skillFriendly=0.98500001; skillEnemy=0.98500001; 3. Reduce accuracy to: precisionFriendly=0.3; precisionEnemy=0.3; BTW, with regard to or DAP's First Aid mod, I forgot to mention a small but vital detail : it requires the latest version of CBA; 0.7.5 RC1 which available at http://www.multiupload.com/ORWYZ9KAY0 Alternatively you can always get the very latest via SixUpdater.
