A.C.R.E - Advanced Combat Radio Environment - 1.4 Stable - Release Thread
domokun replied to noubernou's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Excellent! I look forward to testing this tomorrow night. Any reason why this feature is deactivated by default? i.e. should I keep an eye out for any bugs? -
A.C.R.E - Advanced Combat Radio Environment - 1.4 Stable - Release Thread
domokun replied to noubernou's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
NN: thx for such a quick reply! I'm afraid I have a few more questions :o but they're short and simple  Can you confirm that uo_acre_enable_amplitude.pbo must be placed in the @ACRE folder? Can you confirm that uo_acre_enable_amplitude.pbo is only needed on the machine hosting the TS3 server? Can you confirm that the machine hosting the TS3 server SHOULD be different from the machine hosting the OA server? RTFM (first post) but essentially the lower player speaks into his mic the louder the sound broadcast from his character in-game, i.e. the further his voice can be heard -
Mando Missile ArmA for ArmA 2
domokun replied to mandoble's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Your specs seem pretty good actually, though you might want to try a few tried and tested tweaks to get everything running optimally: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?85124-ArmA2-OA-%28low%29-performance-issues&p=2081466#post2081466 -
Arma 2 lag/hanging/freezing! PLEASE help!
domokun replied to xxDanxS's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
@xxDanxS: hate to break it you but Pufu is right, your rig is borderline for running such a resource-hungry game as OA. But don't worry, with some judicious tweaks here and there you should be able to improve the game performance: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?85124-ArmA2-OA-%28low%29-performance-issues&p=2081466#post2081466 -
The AToC tweak as well as the Vid Memory issue have been known to the community for over a year now. You'll find these 2 tips, as well as many others in this post: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?85124-ArmA2-OA-%28low%29-performance-issues&p=2081466#post2081466 Try these tips to make your game look good and run smoothly

Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
domokun replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Welcome to the community! That's a nice rig that you have there. It should be able to make the game look great and play smoothly. But don't think that its as simple as pushing all the sliders to maximum. So try these tried and tested tweaks: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?85124-ArmA2-OA-%28low%29-performance-issues&p=2081466#post2081466 They include all the suggestions made by PuFu and Leon86 And let us know how you get on? -
ATTN NOOBIES! - New to ArmA II or OA - Here's the place for your questions
domokun replied to wraith_v's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
While the ACRE mod is amongst the best for OA, their documentation is incoherent and out of date (I actually think that it confuses people more than anything). This is by far the best tutorial that I have ever seen: http://www.15thmeu.net/forum/showthread.php?12091-Tutorial-Guide-How-to-install-ACE-amp-ACRE-the-RIGHT-Way-PART-1 If you don't have ACE, then just ignore that part. And a decent headset and mic are essential. Avoid those 5.1/7.1 headphones and get yourself a quality pair of stereo headphones, e.g. AKG, Sennheiser, Plantronics or SteelSeries Personally I prefer a straightforward jack rather than USB connection -
A.C.R.E - Advanced Combat Radio Environment - 1.4 Stable - Release Thread
domokun replied to noubernou's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
NN: thx but how do I enable it on the server? Great idea to implement in the future. Fingers crossed that it will be in the near-future than the far-future. Maybe that Saok can help you, I know that he's been working on a similar feature (it concerns AI reacting to visual cues, e.g. bodies). -
A.C.R.E - Advanced Combat Radio Environment - 1.4 Stable - Release Thread
domokun replied to noubernou's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Hi I think that I've finally got ACRE working correctly (pushing my PtT key results in an audible SQUAWK and yellow window indicating my radio is transmitting). However I'll only be sure once I test it in a MP environment (scheduled for this weekend). In the meantime, the official documentation mentions an "Amplitude mode" which sounds very interesting but it also warns "this mode is not the default mode". How can we modify ACRE to use this mode? Also, are AI influenced by use of this mode? i.e. will AI hear players shouting within earshot? -
Err yes. I'm very sorry about that. I got the wrong thread. Please ignore this. I'll just go and stand in the corner for a while...

Aliabad Region - Version 1.1 Released!
domokun replied to mcnools's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Small but beautifully formed ;) Seriously I'd rather a well-designed 5x5km map over a bad 20x20 -
tom3kb: thanks for the info and congrats to Zipper5 (given all his contributions, he certainly deserves it) Can anyone else help me? Did anyone else complete this mission?

Low FPS with post processing turned up?
domokun replied to ruhtraeel's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
@ruhtraeel: do yourself a favour a lower Post-Processing to Low and then run Oktane's noBlur mod to remove the performance-sapping and nauseau-inducing radial blur. The game will now look fairly good (includes many of the best effects from PP) without looking radioactive nor running like a hog. For more tweaks like this check-out this thread: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?85124-ArmA2-OA-%28low%29-performance-issues&p=2081466#post2081466 -
COWarModI44 Compatible
domokun replied to Gunter Severloh's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Congrats Gunter: I'm particularly interested in feedback on MP games Could you explain a few of your modifications? a) moved the AIPistolUseFix to custom folder b) moved sakudriver2 to custom folder c) removed andy-mags d) removed fnc_* e) removed bd_tracer f) removed AI Dispersion for Mounted MGs g) removed CarsFasterOffRoad h) removed slx_shoteffects I'm not questioning your judgement, I'm just interested in your motivations. -
Thanks mate. Have you released these missions here on the BI Forums? Also do these missions require extra addons?

I'm not sure that ASR AI is compatible with Zeus AI, unless you configure Zeus (edit the Zeus file in Arma2's userconfig folder) Once thing is sure, Zeus AI hasn't been updated for almost 2 years whereas ASR AI gets updated almost every month. I think that it's fair to say that the general consensus points towards ASR AI.

I wouldn't recommend that card when you can get a Radeon 6870. The 6870 is 20% more powerful in OA and 20% cheaper ($150 instead of $170). But if your budget can stretch to $180 you could grab a Gefroce GTX 560 Ti and they're 10% faster than the 6870.

Hi I'm really enjoying this campaign so far except that I'm stuck on mission #5 looking for the documents in the village of Gorka. The reason is that I cannot find them? I found them once (in 1 of 2 adjacent) tents but I then died. So I reverted to an automatic save point and now I can no longer find the documents in the tent. So I'm left wondering, is the file's location random? Or did the game automatically save after I found the first file? If so, how can I be sure? Because I couldn't find anything in my inventory, nor did any task display as "completed" in my map page.

ArmA2 / OA (low) performance issues
domokun replied to R3fl3x's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Slevich: good advice (as always) from Leon86. You can find his advice and more in this thread: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?85124-ArmA2-OA-%28low%29-performance-issues&p=2081466#post2081466 -
How demanding is OA compared to Arma2 graphics wise?
domokun replied to paecmaker's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
SAS: OA is currently only €15 on Sprocket or about £10 in old money. While a sale would definitely make it cheaper, I think you'd only save a couple of quid. So why wait? :o If you prefer Steam, the prices are identical. The advantage is that with Sprocket all your cash goes direct to the developers whereas Valve take their big fat commission (30%?). -
tremanarch: if you're interested in experiencing higher fidelity firearms sounds, I strongly recommend that you try the JSRS sound mod

Kobra Scope (and scope in general)
domokun replied to Malice42's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
@Malice24: welcome to the forums and the Arma2 community. Did you know that bullets don't travel in a straight line? That is because this game(contrary to CoD & BF series) simulates real-life as much as possible (that's why its a milsim, or military simulator). In real life bullets, just like every mass in the universe is influenced by gravity. Therefore bullets travel in trajectories. Trajectories follow and arc shape. So to shoot a point 100m away, the sight on a weapon is calibrated to 100m. Logically this means that if the bullet encounters anything before reaching 100m, it will be at a higher point. I hope you understand this brief and very basic guide. If not, ready up on basic ballistics. It's helpful to understand this if you are to be able to hit anything in Arma2. IIRC Dselexyi's guide to Arma2 has a few paragraphs about this with some helpful diagrams. I hope that helps you. BTW: MaxPOwer just posted a simple diagram that illustrates this -
oktNoBlur - Signed Blur Remover Addon
domokun replied to oktane's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Seriously, with PP set to Low and this mod, the blur is pretty much inexistant whereas the game looks SO much better and there's almost no hit on performance. Try this combination and see for yourself! -
ArmA2 / OA (low) performance issues
