playSound3D issue
Vigil Vindex replied to eagledude4's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Thanks to KillZone_Kid who has posted a comment on the wiki with some help on getting playSound3D to work with mission audio files - http://killzonekid.com/arma-scripting-tutorials-mission-root/ -
Poseidon: advanced text editor for Scripts & Configs
Vigil Vindex replied to Tom_48_97's topic in ARMA 3 - COMMUNITY MADE UTILITIES
I noticed that when I had description.ext open some commands where incorrectly highlighted, being partially blue and white. The commands I noticed with this problem where: playerCountMultipleOf, respawndelay, respawnDialog, allowFunctionsLog, enableDebugConsole. I also noticed diag_log is white, I am assuming all commands are to be blue. Also would it be possible to have _local/global variables a slightly different colour? -

Have you tried incorporating your work with the Sublime Text 3 betas? -
I was just thinking about the issues regarding the licence that we have to agree with when uploading to steam workshop. I know that earlier in the thread I mentioned that if we attach a licence to our work before uploading that it could be argued that our licence still applies over and above the licence of steam workshop. Kind of how like EULA is employed, where no end user agreement is necessary to consider it legally binding (in some countries). So I was wondering if any of the BIS people could float this idea with their Steam rep. Specifically, if an end user uploads content to steam workshop with say a CC-BY-SA licence, would they acknowledge that licence or ignore it? I don't think there has been any prior precedent set in court that I know of where I am, so would expect it would have to be taken to court to determine which licence takes priority.

Third-Person Limiter Thing
Vigil Vindex replied to outlawled's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I found this in the forums a while ago: while {true} do { sleep 0.1; waitUntil {((cameraView == "External") and ((vehicle player) == player) and alive player)}; (player switchCamera "INTERNAL"); }; -

There is no argument against having good documentation. Any half respectable software house takes its documentation seriously. The fact you are making it out as if it is so much work to create a page on a wiki and type what you just wrote is embarrassingly lazy. I would do it myself if I could even find the register button on the BIS wiki! I dread to think what kind of work environment it is like where people claim that writing a wiki page is a time consuming and labourous ordeal, it must be really unproductive. -

That is the problem, it is hidden away in multiple places, it should be in once place, clearly available, preferably on the wiki. I appreciate you have helped with DayZ filters, but more needs done in terms of proper documentation. Posting information in random threads on the forums and thinking that is enough is a poor show. We need one, definitive area that we can find all official documentation, resorting to google and the horrible forum search is unreliable. -
Can you share any updated version?

I noticed that the new playSound3D command (http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/playSound3D) does not have a corresponding command to stop the sound. Could a command for this possibly be added? Perhaps the playSound3D command can return a handle to the sound, that a stopSound command can operate on. Or is there another technique to cancel an already playing sound?- 1481 replies

We can if there is zero documentation to allow server admins to learn how to setup said filters. I have looked and been unable to find any documentation from BIS or BE on BE filters. -
^^ It's like reading something straight out of the McCarthy era. We leftists are thieving psychopaths apparently because we feel the state should protect those who can't protect themselves. You can throw accusations of psychopathy and immorality all you want, it still doesn't change the fact that we are here to discuss solutions to problems, not to demean and undermine everyone else's position with baseless accusations and rhetoric. Who is more immoral, the person who walks past those in need of help, or the person who stops to give their time to help? Are you so brainwashed and psychotic that you cannot accept that those with leftist political views are not some evil, but are in fact people who have given much thought to their views and have arrived at those views because they want to help those in need? PS. On the topic of "theft", for anyone to steal anything from you, you first have to steal it from the planet. No living creature has a just claim to ownership of any material on this fine planet. The only justified solution is equal share for all.

I apologise if it seemed snarky, it's just frustrating how this issue seems to get danced around all the time. I am genuinely concerned though that it seems BIS don't do any testing with large numbers of AI, if they did, we wouldn't have to submit repro missions for such basic problems.
-
I find it hard to believe that we are 200 pages into this thread and we are still acting like this is some sort of mysterious intermittent issue that requires a repro mission submitted. For real? I guess BIS never try to play with 100+ AI because they know it cannot be done without crippling fps.

@coffeeshock Are you blaming socialism/communism for everything? Do you offer any solutions? We tried this supposed "free market" capitalism with no regulation and look where it has gotten us, massive debt, toxic derivatives, foreclosures for the common workers, and bailouts for "too big to fail" bankers, socialism for the wealthy. It's obvious if any kind of capitalist market is to exist then some form of regulation and state is going to be needed. Do you honestly think capitalism can exist without a state to enforce it? Have you seen Mad Max? Are you trying to say the world is ran by mad men and we should just accept it without discussion? You claim the Marxist cultural experiment has changed western civilization forever as if it was some foreign invasion, Marx and Engels where German economists, part of western civilization to begin with. We are here to discuss solutions to problems, constructively. Rather than sneering at each others opinions can we have a constructive debate?
-
Anarcho-capitalism is an oxymoron. Anarchy implies no state, while capitalism relies on the state to enforce the rules which make a capitalist market possible. Without the state to provide security and enforce the capitalist market, people would just take what they want. Also there is so much talk of "theft" and "stealing", I find it hard to justify such words. No single individual has a genuine claim to ownership of material over any other individual. Our current cosmologies fall between either god creating the known universe, or the "big bang" event creating the known universe. Both stories preclude humanity, and as such we can lay no claim to ownership of anything we find in the universe. However in light of this knowledge we are still able to dream up the notion of "ownership", and create elaborate arguments to justify this flawed ideology. I hope eventually we will grow up to accept this reality, and accept that the only fair and just solution is to ensure that all living creatures have an equal right to thrive and survive on the resources the universe has seen fit to provide us for gratis.

How often does planet earth charge you money for anything? When does the sun charge you for heat? Only humans try to claim what is not theirs and sell it to each other.

When will the nVidia Arma 3 optimized drivers come?
Vigil Vindex replied to Alabatross's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
The problem I have with all the excuses is this, if I create an empty mission with just players I can host it locally and have players connect with me and we can run around Altis with good FPS. As soon as AI are added to the mix it is guaranteed to go down to 20fps for all players. That to me clearly shows what the problem is. Why we are going in circles discussing possibilities while ignoring this one simple fact is a mystery to me. -
There is also a very specific: but I should be paid for everything mindset for some reason.
-
Every time you vote you are essentially telling them to force your will on others. I find it interesting how everyone just takes money for granted, like god 100 years ago, everyone just assumes it's right and proper, ignoring the fact that in reality it is just paper. It is the game we play that gives it power. I also find it sad how we all think we have the right own parts of this world and sell it to each other, this is the highest form of theft, taking something that you did not create and claiming it as their own work. Earth, planet of thieves!

Vigil Vindex replied to Alabatross's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Well, I guess something is locking the worker thread because as soon as AI are added my fps goes from 60+fps to 20-30fps in a local hosted MP game. ---------- Post added at 20:47 ---------- Previous post was at 20:25 ---------- This made me think of the Oculus VR headset, we are going to need fast fps for that to work. It will never be on the cards for Arma if we can't get stable fps over 60 at peak times.
