Tangox5 10 Posted July 14, 2010 Here, decide for yourself. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=102795 A discussion stamped out twice now. What for? He says in a private message I am breaking forum rules by expressing my opinion about the moderators. Well here's one more Placebo: You're an idiot. Now here comes the ban. I'm long since past caring, obviously. Goodbye. Great game. Horrible company front end. Probably won't buy again.

Nicholas 5 Posted July 14, 2010 (edited) As Flash Thunder said, this is a privately owned forum. If they make a rule that you can't express your opinion about the moderators, then so be it. It's their turf, meaning they set the rules. You are in fact breaking two of the rules now. Quote §2) Follow the instructions of the moderatorsWhen a moderator or BIS staff member asks you to do something or to stop doing something, please follow their instructions. If you have questions/complaints/comments about the forum or moderators please PM them to a moderator, we will do our utmost to reply to any that we receive. If you have an issue that you feel cannot be solved by another moderator then please PM the head moderator (Placebo), he will be happy to look into the matter. Quote §18) No public discussion on how the forum is moderatedIf you have questions/complaints/comments about the forum or moderators please PM them to a moderator, we will do our utmost to reply to any that we receive. If you have an issue that you feel cannot be solved by another moderator then please PM the head moderator (Placebo), he will be happy to look into the matter. You may also ask your questions in the "Ask a mod" thread; however that thread is not to be used to attack/rant against specific moderators or about specific rules but more for questions/answers. I highly suggest you read the rules and take some time off to understand them, they can be found here. Edited July 14, 2010 by Nicholas

frederf 0 Posted July 14, 2010 As much as one can feel like modders are meanies (and they very well can be unfair at times)... modding a forums is tough. Threads that are critical of mods like this, even reasonable ones, will be dealt with. It's not that they don't like you personally, even though it will seem like it; it's because they have to keep a tight lid on anything disruptive. The forum community can slide pretty quickly over the most trivial matters so a moderator (or team thereof) has to really adhere to principles, rules, and "nip it in the bud" even if 9 times out of 10 it's not a threat. I've gotten in a "why is this mod being an idiot" tiff too and maybe we're right but it just isn't fair to the community as a whole to be audience to it. Even if their rules seem draconian it really can't be helped. Most moderators have been around long enough to see things go well and not so well and have a decent sense of what's necessary, popular or no. Even if you're right and 90% of of idiots post in the wrong forum and you're trying to bring value to ArmA, they have to win the disagreement simply because it is only their authority in everyone's mind that helps things run smoothly. I can tell you care about the ArmA community and you don't like your voice squished, it feels horrible. If I were you I would feel compelled to put your suggestion thread in the suggestion forum (seems sensible to me.) The suggestion thread is a little... blech but people do read it. Usually if you write well, format pleasantly, and use a neutral tone a standalone thread is greeted warmly. I don't really know why your original thread was closed and I don't particularly care to know. Salvage all the good points out of it, leave out the politics and arguing, and reintroduce only the good stuff wherever it is most appropriate (forum, new thread, old thread appendix.) If it's good content it has a right to exist here in my opinion.
sick1 13 Posted July 14, 2010 You better edit your post and send some apology Pms or you can pretty much forget about being a part of this community. Calling Placebo names makes you look like a fool.
katipo66 94 Posted July 14, 2010 I think if you play arma then its a good option too be part of this community, i dont think i would have half enjoyed the game as much if i wasn't part of it. mostly i find the people on this forum to be genuinely helpful and mods to be... well mods, thats their job, and they do it well. Maybe an apology and an understanding of Frederf's well written post, We all blow off steam from time to time, but its never any good burning bridges :)
