CamperKiller 0 Posted April 23, 2002 OFP is starting to lose its appeal with me at least, I hope Oxygen/MODS/OFP Internals revitalise this community as not a lot seems to be happening at the moment. What does everybody think?
Antichrist 0 Posted April 23, 2002 True! I'm still heavily involved with OFP (Retaliation and flashpoint.ru site) but I no longer play it that often just for fun Only when testing missions and new addons But that's pretty much like a job for me now
Sheriff 0 Posted April 23, 2002 I think you are infatuated with your own ignorance, Open your eyes and look at all the opportunities and possibilities. Download a usermade mission from the OFPN and @war database here Or even better how about contributing ones talents and start work on your own mission. check out OFPEC Want something new? How about checking out all the great addons released by Lostbrothers MOD. New Campaigns maybe? Read the forums and fansites for the numerous usermade Campaigns, some are quite good others aren't. Latest news and community entertainment, how about checking out OFPN. Still bored? Wait a few months for the offical Operation Flashpoint Resistance expansion pack and then IL. Or how about socializing right here?. OFP lost it's appeal? Fine don't play. But to be honest there is quite alot going on and i'm sure you are more than welcome to join in on the fun mate. Damage Inc 0 Posted April 23, 2002 I am bored with it yes. I've played it too much but I hope that the Oxygen guys come from the sky to save us with their shiny helicopters.
Die Alive 0 Posted April 23, 2002 From the start up to maybe this past February, I only played SP (campaigne, SP missions, mission editor etc), now from February on, I've been playing only online MP, and it's all that I play now. So I've got another maybe 2 months of online play worth in me, then Resistance will rekindal my SP mission interests. -=Die Alive=-
Ether Dragon 0 Posted April 23, 2002 Okay, granted I've yet to finish the campaign (partly due to a hard drive crash, partly due to other games, partly due to RL interuptions,) but I don't see how anyone could get bored with this game. It just offers so much. The magnitude of it still awes me everytime I play. I haven't even touched the player-created missions yet. My friends and I can always find a new way to tackle one of the original maps. Unless you're bored with the gameplay. Really, how many times can you shoot the bad guys before it becomes blasé? I'm still not there yet. Of course, I spent a couple of years replaying Rogue Spear (NATO 3 mod) with the same 18 maps over and over. With the sheer size of OFP's maps for comparison, I can't imagine getting bored anytime soon. No, if anything kills this game for me, it's going to be the annoying glitches that we have to put up with. It's annoying to have to turn off anti-aliasing whenever I play to avoid input lag, for instance. Wreaks havoc with other games (some of which lock-up in the absence of AA.) Still, for the moment I can stomach it for what the game offers in return.
LordZach 0 Posted April 23, 2002 OFP has never really gotten "boring" to me. there was a period of about 2 or 3 months where i more or less stopped playing because i was busy with other games (Anarchy Online, Tribes, etc) but user made missions, campaigns, and quality addons brought me back. custom models (or p3ds whatever you call them) also helped. when i "left" 75% of the mods were just taking a PK model and slapping some weapon stats on it, which were no fun for me. if for some reason this gets boring for me i can always try out multi although the thought of being a n00b again aren't that appealing. but when resistance comes out, i think most of us will have trouble finding time to post
RangerLee 0 Posted April 23, 2002 Hell this game is still cooking with me, I especially love dling custom made missions (Hamburger Hill is still kicking my ARSE) and even more playing custom made co-op missions with my buddies. I just last night DL the jungle island add on, along with the SEAL, Ranger, and NVA skins. The missions are a blast, there is just so much more going on and some great missions/campaigns made by players out there. Give them a shot.
Anaconda 0 Posted April 23, 2002 I still play this game a lot :-) It's always fun hehe
WKK Gimbal 0 Posted April 23, 2002 I'm probably more addicted to OFP than I've ever been. When making missions and addons myself, I constantly get amazed on how the OFP universe seems to be endless, regarding to what you can add to it, as well as what is there from the beginning. It's just a huge playground! The imagination is what sets the limits. If youre truly and utterly bored do this: Add a soldier in the editor and type this in the INIT field: this addmagazine "Rocket57x64"; this addweapon "Rocket57x64" Even just loading up the editor and add myself as a plane, set the time to 18:15 and go for a quiet idyllic flight still seems as pleasing as it did a year ago And sometimes when having been working for a whole day, I just HAVE to get in there and sneak up on an AI squad with my sniper rifle inside a forrest or on a hill. Maybe at night...
LordZach 0 Posted April 23, 2002 i'm going to try that with some LGBs

Satchel 0 Posted April 23, 2002 RL keeps me a bit from playing Flashpoint at the moment, but OFP is certainly a long long way from loosing it´s appeal. However, when i have some time, i´m not actually playing Flashpoint but trying to improve the game for myself by changing textures, sounds etc. The possibilities are there as always- they are huge, and are not yet fully discovered as Walker said, that´s what keeps it interesting and people motivated. With Flashpoint you can recreate actual realistic scenarios in an combined arms environment, taking part on one of the very best outdoor terrains around...there are no other games in the 1st person shooter genre i could say the same about. Most games after all focusing on either vehicles or personal, either indoor or outdoor, they only follow one aspect-it´s seldom that a game combines nearly everything in a believable manner. One of Flashpoints current drawback is indoor, as this part is virtually non existent- it would certainly do a great deal to multiplayer popularity if the indoor aspect would be a bit more complex on certain areas of an island, especially if the clipping thing is going to be fixed. "Indoor???!!!" you say, "in a military sim with tanks etc, where the grunt is creeping through mud and stuff?"- Yupp, not a minor part of military infantry training deals with exactly this topic. It would give the MP´s a real use and purpose ingame additionally. Flashpoint is still a brilliant Singleplayer game (one of the very best in my small collection), but in Multiplayer, because of a missing standard and some flaws, it´s kind of a pain the ass for now, hope this changes with OFP:Resistance. Something that makes the MP5 very useful. OFP's interface is better suited for it than Rainbow Six, IMHO. Rainbow Six is too stiff.

I play OFP still after almost a year. Boring? Not likely. Cause you can do anything in OFP. Anything. With my trainscript one can even travel along the beautiful islands in a train Boring? Not even when it crashes If you get bored, get really serious engaged with a mod and hope to be a beta tester and/or member... When I test the M4 Sherman of Invasion1944 I certainly wont get bored
ralphwiggum 6 Posted April 23, 2002 well.. i got OFP in Sept, just a few days after its release in US...ever since, i've been playing it for quite a while. but to me this game requires some commitment and dedication. if i feel like shooting some AIs, i just run GR demo. but when it comes to SERIOUS fun, then OFP. since i have 56k, i didn't play MP for long time. so i can't say what i think of getting bored. but i can tell you that number of strategies and missions that we can create with mission editor is pretty big.(it's not infinite...but pretty damn big that it's hard to count) if you are bored with OFP, it's not becuase it's booooooooooooring, but rather because you are too familiar with it. when we get new games, we go nuts trying to see all those cool features and drool over little cool things that we find, but as we now get nearly a yr old in OFP, we find many things pretty much mundane/same. like finding that you can drive cars...at first, that's a hell of a fun. but we now all know how to drive a car in OFP, so we find it less amusing.(ok...unless i'm invovled...i crash often in SP..i wonder who is worse driver..me or hilandor) so if you think you are bored, see if you are too familiar with OFP or not. you might be able to find some fun by doing more tactical situations that differs even a little bit, but can chage the tide drastically. or as i do these days, place yourself in middle of a town, have 40 AIs surround the area, and try to escape with a M21, by yourself...now that's fun.... ralphwiggum 6 Posted April 23, 2002 i have another thought....now that we seasoned veterans are capable of operating anything in the game, now the fun factor is not at finding some cool feature, but rather being able to find new things beyond what game gives us. after all, we humans need to find better strategy to finish a game...so instead of basic fun, now we are moving to type of fun that requires some brain work.. WKK Gimbal 0 Posted April 23, 2002 exactly - putting one self into the impossible situation, like you described with the 40 AI, is always fun. Yesterday I tried taking on a max-skill T80 platoon with a single Bradley, not using 3rd person view. It made me come up with many new tactics I hadn't thought about before (like how to get your AI crew to perform hit-and-run attacks from hull down positions around the enemy) It was near impossible but great fun. LordZach 0 Posted April 23, 2002 i've been playing in "rambo mode" lately. it's kind of fun to sit on a hill and fire away on iron sights. plus the AI always gets in the way. i've just found the AI squad too unreliable anymore. when i'm shooting they will usually stand around stupidly and walk in front of my line of fire so i just keep the medic in a truck or forest

I would love to see some big supply bases with ammo and tanks and other stuffs. That would be one great blackop fun. sneak into the big building, place satchels all over the place, sneak out of the building, lie on the hill and watch the fireworks. Major Fubar 0 Posted April 23, 2002 I think OFP will only get boring to me once OFP2 is out  With all ther user made missions and campaigns out there, I just can't get bored. But I am also anxiously awaiting Oxygen release for all new models in the game.
RED 0 Posted April 23, 2002 I have never got bored of playing OFP, I have been distracted by games such as MOHAA and Jedi knight 2. RED
SpaceAlex 0 Posted April 23, 2002 I have this game since June 2001 and i'm playing it every single day. I'm playing a lot of SP and a lot of MP with my squad. I'm also making MP and SP missions and a few sound modifications. I love original sounds, but some of them are annoying (tank track sound, m16, ak, greande, planes, cobra engine sound, machine guns and a few others). They are maybe annoying because i know them so well. I would probaby want them if the ones i have now would be original.
