Please make ArmA 2 avail for OnLive

Recommended Posts

Say what you will about OnLive, but I personally think that all the naysayers can politely put their foots in their mouths...in my opinion, the service is fantastic. I was in the beta, and it's even better after launch. It's great.

I say this because after taking a break from PC gaming to console for oh these many years, I'm hoping that OnLive can bring PC gaming back (to me, at least) so that I can play amazing games like ArmA 2. So please, if the devs somehow see this post, consider it. I know mods aren't part of the deal right now, they could be, and because of how OnLive is set up, you could even have the top mods as usable for a minimal fee -- which could be nice to give the modders who spend a ton of their time a little money for their efforts. Another thing, no dedicated servers, but after playing all this time online on consoles, I'm could live without it if it meant me being able to play ArmA 2. It wouldn't be replacing the PC, just be in conjunction to.

In other words...do it because I said so...please.

Sounds like a crap idea to me, besides OnLive doesn't work for anyone outside the states so I don't really care for it. More lag other than the desync you get in big missions will be amazing for ArmA2 I'm sure.

Yup, not working outside the US is the biggest deal breaker. The US has a much smaller number of BIS fans, probably the smallest.

Oh, that's not going to get you far. ;)

...you could even have the top mods as usable for a minimal fee...

Why would people pay for something that they could get for free? If people want to help out modders, they can donate, but making it mandatory isn't going to win any favours.

Plus, it's US only. This kills the idea there and then really, seeing as BIS isn't even based in the US.

Wow, what a slew of negative, condesending replies. First, OnLive will be available in Europe soon enough (deals have already been made). Secondly, having the game for OnLive wouldn't somehow prevent you from playing it on your PC. You want to do that? Go ahead. To me, making it available for OnLive would only expand the audience. Not many people are willing to spend a grand on a new gaming PC for just one game, but a service for 4.95 a

month that constantly upgrades it's hardware (as it stands now) is a little easier to take.

So why immediately shoot the idea down? There ARE people who would want to play the single player, so who needs a dedicated server for that? Those arguments against were kind of ridiculous. And if you thought the closing statement to my first post didn't have a hint of humor in it then you seriously need to lighten up.

Or you can just be close-minded fanboys and flame me for suggesting something and hoping the devs would see it.

Sure THERE ARE people for quite everything like the VIAGRA-fishers with their spaming the whole wide world and only wanting 1 out of 1000 to buy their fucking fake meds.

No need at all for commercialising quite everything.

Seems like you are somehow commercially bound to Onlive and promoting that shit here because you only got a member here to promote a commercial idea of yours.

i dont think this onlive thing is going to fly for anything more advanced than some browser based casual games or COD... (can you imagine IMPUT lag?)

i admit i know nothing about developing for this platform, but common sense tells me that you have to make some commendations in every facet of the games code to get it to work with this type of service, not to mention the large financial expenditure required to do so

so... no. wake up

Yup. That's it. I'm paid by OnLive to go through Bohemia Interactive's FORUMS to guage their interested in adopting the service. That makes sense. And are you trying to say that putting the game on OnLive is somehow making the game more "commercial"? Isn't the the entire point? To sell games? Haha. What are you saying?!

Who would want a dedicated server to get more involved in this community? It's filled with kids and trolls.

"wake up"

Listen to yourselves. You are angry that I was suggesting a way for your beloved game to acquire more fans. Haha.

i am simply stating that your fantasy is a bit exaggerated. i highly doubt this service is capable of delivering in a satisfactory way

Kinda like those guys who demand arma 2 to run maxed out at a smooth 60 FPS on mid range hardware, and also demand more flashy shader tech, ragdoll physics, a completely rewritten game engine in the next patch, and a coffee maker in their disk drives all in the same breath

The EULA of the modding tools prohibit any commercial exploitation. If you would have bothered to get familiar with this before making your "advertisement" you could have prevented fail #1

No dedicated servers? No thanks. Fail #2.

In other words...do it because I said so...please.

I doubt you're in the position for that. Fail #3.

Says one of them...
