Just went to france

Recommended Posts

I just went to France (Lille) with my school, we were having fun, just acting like complete idiots like we always do when suddenly we saw 3 fully armed soldiers, with their special clothes (dunno what it's called) and all that shit. They were carrying a really impressive weapon, i think it looks a bit like that new weapon in OFP (i think it's something with a G, G36 or something like that confused.gif ).

We walked past them trying to act as normal as possible (normal? what's that?), and just went on. At first we thought they were just doing an exercise or something and that they were just resting a bit. But after a couple hours we walked inside one of those shopping things and saw about 15 of those soldiers walking through it. 5 minutes later we saw a jeep of the army driving by. 15 minutes later we saw about 5 men fully armed running around the streets. And there also were a lot of cops. This just kept going on and on.

So what is this? Are those guys crazy or something, the whole damn town was full of them, can someone try to explain what they were doing there? OK, it's normal that you see some soldiers in town once in a while but this looked like an invasion!!! biggrin.gif

no, I guess it was the Famas

You talked about a german standard rifle (G36)

(i know that I constantly talk about stupid Germany but in this case I had no choice) the german suckers below carry one! (strange ones though)

I can tell you why. It is probably due to the recent attacks on Synagoges all around France and the killing of german tourists by terrorists in Djerba. They took a truck with which you transport gazoline and supposingly drove into it (but that is not sure yet). Many tourists got killed in the fire!

Maybe they were protecting a synagoge or something and were just a little bit more alert?

Hmm, it would help if you told us which city it was.

Especially since I might be stopping off at France, Germany this summer.

Or any other country that I may choose. That is the good thing about having parents that work for the Dept of State.

Oh wait, now I get it. You said Lille. Were they actually on duty or were they actually in action? Like responding to something?

Were they French or German soldiers?

He said "I just went to France (Lille)". He wasn't describing the size of the country. biggrin.gif

Don't know about Lille but when I was in Paris soldiers with assault weapons were very obvious at places like stations. After Sept. 11th the French government imposed a state of emergency. This is a country which has seen terrorist acts in major cities within relatively recent history so they took the issues of civil security VERY seriously.

Could also just have been an exercise.

I'll bet that most of them would prefer the government to take another threat more seriously: dog poop!

Paris is the world capital of it! tounge.gif

the france has an emergency plan : the vigipirate plan

after the bombings in paris in 1995 (the bombs were placed in some dustbins in two metro stations) , the government created a special protection plan ......

the army and the police forces participate to this plan

this plan consist in the protection of the most sensible places that could be targetted by terrorrist attacks (including schools , airports , museums , monuments etc .......)

the vigipirate plan give more liberty to the policemen during their controls , they are authorized to inspect completely a car .

the FAMAS assault rifle is used by the french army , but also by the french police forces when needed (like a renforced vigipirate plan)

my CRS company was a part of the vigipirate plan right after the sept11 attacks our role was to patrol around the "hot spots" of poitiers and chatellerault (prefecture and sous-prefecture) we were authorized to control the identity of every person we met

the vigipirate dispositive is in normal time only the stuff of the police , but sometimes it is renforced by military units and CRS units

Damm ran, time to change your avatar. Since 1400 posts you havent changed yours! It is getting kind of boring!°  biggrin.gif

BTW: Yesterday I was playing online and in fact after hours of research of hundreds of the most renowned scientists we succeeded in developing a new generation of suicide-bombers. The advantage is, that only the person at the bottom touches Israeli ground an therefore can be checked at checkpoints, the persons on top basically pass 'duty free'! And with the power of 6 people and their bomb-belts you can cover the area of a multi-floor mega-store!

(we intended to put more but someone threw a grenade and our tower was blown into pieces! wink.gif )
