I've seen many good missions with user-made addons. The big problem stems from the lack of an auto-download feature, and some missions edited with the addons misplaced in the addons directory (probably from unzipping to it without checking for sub-folders). This creates a huge amount of wasted game time, specially when there's a dozen people with different addons missing/misplaced. I loved the Canadian soldiers addon, and the ADATS, but appart from these, and Kegety's classics, me and my pals don't use the rest to avoid problems. We don't release them anymore, because there's always someone bitching about this or that.

366, hey? Well, it is possible if you run a very tidy system with nothing loading at boot in the tray bar, no AV or Firewall software. Indeed, loading will be arduous, but set to low specs; 800x600, 16 bits, reduced vehicle dashboard displays down to 128x128, 40% less lights than games will set to and -25% objects, you can do it. Expect the campaigns to be choppy at best, mulitplayer will be limited if vehicles are to be used in missions but it's still worth a shot. Try overclocking your CPU's FSB by 10%. This is the ratio considered to be safe without requiring any special modifications or additional fans.

When in combat using a tank, I recomend to be gunner. Thrue this means that the gang commander will have to re-iterate your order for the driver to do something, but it seems like the most practical solution, an AI gunner is a lot of work, not effecient, and often misses. My favorite MO for tank ops, is to gun, to move i simply select my driver or gang commander and hit "M" and click where I want to go on the map. This is more efficient than the in-game pointing since a hill top won't prevent you from telling the final destination right off the bat...
