sickboy 13 Posted February 13, 2011 (edited) Okay as of lib update 83 the limitation mentioned in previous post has been lifted. zSync and rSync mirrors are now used mixed - it will use whichever mirror has higher priority, is reachable, and user limit not reached, regardless if it is rSync or zSync. The same now counts for Custom zSync repositories; they can be supplemented by custom rSync repositories - flexible as you wish. Version 2.1 is about complete, and was a bout new-feature-boom, while 2.0 was introduction on .NET. 2.2 and 2.3 I will use to improve usability, simplicity, etc. Please if you have bugs/feedback, report asap. 2.1 RC will soon appear. Update The second official zSync mirror is up and awaiting your requests! Kindly donated by Robalo AS, AlphaSquad.net. If you would like to join the network - improving it for everyone - please feel free to! http://six.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Six_Updater+Mirror_Setup Otherwise if you'd like to setup a (private) custom zSync repository - have a look at: http://six.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Six_Updater+zSync_Setup Contact me on Wave (or Skype) text-chat for details. sickboy 13 Posted February 16, 2011 ST stands for Standalone. If you have both A2 and OA, just select A2 OA Combined Ops profile :) http://six.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Six_Updater+Documentation#Game%20Editions
Penfolde 1 Posted February 16, 2011 Hi all I've spent the last couple of months figure out how to download Mods and now I would like to setup a dedicated server with some or all the Mods I've downloaded. Been through the documentation and cannot see anything that tells me how to add mods to a customs game, tried playing with Six-updater for a bit. Can anyone point me to an instructions manual that has an "Idiot" guide for setup custom dedicate server. Penfolde
pressytcn 10 Posted February 16, 2011 i have them bouth but as sepperat installs oa and a2 from steam oa and a2 from dvd so what i want is the sixupdater to install in the steam location and not mess with the dvd location the steam version of a2 is only to contain ace and bw mod the dvd is the one i mess up with all kinds of mods and addons
sickboy 13 Posted February 16, 2011 (edited) ---------- Post added at 20:28 ---------- Previous post was at 18:56 ---------- Latest app, exec and lib updates pushed for auto-self-update. The new settings are finally stored, some small new features added and some bugs squashed (details at the SU Wave and the SU Issue tracker @ Dev-Heaven) In the meantime the SU Network could use some generous mirror donators from the US - If you have some hosting bandwidth available and would be interested in supplementing the mirror network - benefiting all users - please leave a message :) Hosting options are http webserver for zSync clients, or rSync daemon for rSync clients, or even both (running off the same files). EU or other region mirrors are naturally very welcome too! Official mirror details @ http://six.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Six_Updater+Mirror_Setup Custom repository details @ http://six.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Six_Updater+zSync_Setup Hi allI've spent the last couple of months figure out how to download Mods and now I would like to setup a dedicated server with some or all the Mods I've downloaded. Been through the documentation and cannot see anything that tells me how to add mods to a customs game, tried playing with Six-updater for a bit. Can anyone point me to an instructions manual that has an "Idiot" guide for setup custom dedicate server. Penfolde Currently SU requires you to know the basics of setting up an arma 2 dedicated server - if you have those it should be a piece of cake to set the startup parameters for your server etc. The only difference when handling mods and starting a server is to enable the Server checkbox - the rest is exactly the same as for a client. Did you grab the SU 2.0 already or still using the six-updater-web? These should cover the basics; http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ArmA:_Server_configuration http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ArmA:_Startup_Parameters http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/server.cfg http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/basic.cfg Sorry no all-in-one beginner guide available currently. Startup parameters you can set within SU. I am however working on integrating all this configuration in the GUI, probably sees the light of day around 2.2. i have them bouth but as sepperat installs oa and a2 from steam oa and a2 from dvd so what i want is the sixupdater to install in the steam location and not mess with the dvd location the steam version of a2 is only to contain ace and bw mod the dvd is the one i mess up with all kinds of mods and addons Just set the path on your settings profile. At the lower tabs click Profiles, select your favorite / the one you use - and enter the path to the steam installation in the 'path' field, currently you have to manually type/copy it in there - will soon be supplemented by open folder dialog :) Edited February 16, 2011 by Sickboy

duckmeister 10 Posted February 17, 2011 I am getting periodic "IOError The device is not ready" messages while using the latest version. Hopefully this isn't interfering with the download of mods, since last night I downloaded a ton. Also, you should probably try to put in some explanation for the different colors next to mods in the preset list. It would help a bit, especially in converting already-present mods to the six updater version. As an example, I have the mods @sthud and @stmovement. I saw they were in the list of available mods on six updater, so I put those into the "dynamic" preset, chose the option "convert to six updater", and let it run. Then I hit "install or update", and they turned green like the rest of the mods I have downloaded straight from the updater. Did I do this correctly? The two mods changed colors about three times, and while common sense told me they were going from "unrecognized" to "recognized but not updated" to "updated", it would still help to know what the colors mean. Thanks for all of your work on this, it is now very easy to use, and I love being able to keep other mods (besides ACE) up to date. Great work.
sickboy 13 Posted February 17, 2011 Thanks - please create a ticket with the requested log files and im sure we'll be able to solve the IOError asap :) http://six.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Six_Updater+support Re the convert etc - this is correct. As to your other requests, they are on the roadmap, hopefully still making it for 2.1, otherwise the next :) http://dev-heaven.net/projects/six-arma-updater/roadmap

sickboy 13 Posted February 19, 2011 (edited) The 2.1 milestone has been reached; http://dev-heaven.net/versions/show/895 RC2 has been released (no need to update to it if you sucessfully auto-self-update on updater startup). Major feature of 2.1 is zSync and rSync custom repository support; http://six.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Six_Updater+zSync_Setup Anyone can host a repo with the mods, versions and missions of their choosing. SU 2.1 Image album Hopefully this version will be signed off as 2.1 stable next days, if you find any issues please report asap; http://six.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Six_Updater+support Short break perhaps, then work will commence on the next Milestone (2.2). sickboy 13 Posted February 20, 2011 I just downloaded Six Updater 2.1 and I have no idea how to use it. Im used to Yoma. All the tutorial vids on youtube are for previous versions of six updater. Need help here! What would you like to know? All buttons, selection boxes, menus, datagrids, tree items etc have tooltips - when you hover over them they explain their purpose etc. There's a video at http://six.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Six_Updater+Videos And a guide to for example to join AlphaSquad's servers; http://alphasquad.net/home/forum/index.php?f=58&t=3185&rb_v=viewtopic
solidsnake2384 10 Posted February 20, 2011 When I install the mods how do I determine what folders the mods go in? I cant find that option anywhere.
sickboy 13 Posted February 20, 2011 (edited) When I install the mods how do I determine what folders the mods go in? I cant find that option anywhere. It will install to your game folder. If your game folder is not or wrongly detected you can either fix the arma2 registry keys or you can set it in the Options ribbon right at the top, Global game path, or on the Profiles tab, Path column. If you'd like to change the modpath you can do so also in the Options ribbon, Global mod path, or on the Profiles tab, Modpath column. Modpaths supports relative (to game folder) paths. I'll soon add a select folder dialog so you don't have to manually enter the custom paths in the future. Edited February 20, 2011 by Sickboy
solidsnake2384 10 Posted February 20, 2011 Ok I think im starting to understand this. Thanks for the help. ---------- Post added at 05:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:39 PM ---------- While installing what if Six Updater stays on one mod file? It says verifying download...checksum matches OK used 0 local, fetched 15685 Processing addons/ace_sys_particlefx.pbo.gz and its been like that for awhile. What should I do? Abort it or leave it?
solidsnake2384 10 Posted February 21, 2011 Another problem. I also keep getting this. Found custom addons in official game addons folders, please remove (if really custom addon): etc. Is it saying that itll need to redownload the whole thing because I aborted the previous installation because it just stopped at the mod i listed above.
sickboy 13 Posted February 21, 2011 (edited) It's saying you should clean your default game addons folders from custom addons and only leave original game addons. It's just a warning, nothing else. Custom addons should be installed by the modfolder principle; http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Modfolders and not be put into the original game addons folders. If you have issues please post them to my bug tracker as described @ http://six.dev-heaven.net/wagn/Six_Updater+support And include the log files so we can analyze what's up. Vicho 10 Posted February 21, 2011 Quick question: our clan uses ACE stable releases, so what would be the easiest way for me to preserve a copy of the stable release, and still update another copy of ACE to the latest version? (Using Six)
sickboy 13 Posted February 21, 2011 Rename stable ACE to @ACE_Stable, and use SU as normal. Or put it in a subfolder. Or get your clan to actually run the recommended Ongoing Development editions.
TOTAL22 0 Posted February 21, 2011 (edited) Hi sickboy, I'm trying to let my community and all of its people to transit from AddonSync to Six updater, and I've only got one problem which holds me back from recommending six updater to others. I don't know how to export my current custom made preset for someone else to download from my web server and import it for their use. How can we do this? Thanks for all the hard work and thanks in advance for the help. Edited February 21, 2011 by TOTAL22
