7 0 Posted April 27, 2010 Hello Boys,Well the previous post was most prudent. Installed updates, latest drivers for kb, mouse and video card. Cannot get rid of the mouse lag. I can get it down to 2 or 3 seconds but no lower. We tried a few other games demos and the mouse works fine for them. I have a Hd2600 pro card, the pc is 2 x dual core e 6750@2.66 ghz. G7 cordless mouse and tried a corded one. It would be a shame to miss out on the fun, but I think the game is headed for ebay. We also changed mouse sensivity in game user profiles, in mouse management software also. Tried every screen resolution possible, played with video card anti aliasing settings etc etc. I have read this was a common problem and no one post seems to have the answer. Any ideas? Who wrote this post? And how long have you been playing modern PC games?

stk2008 14 Posted April 27, 2010 We need info of his motherboard before hand.AGP? PCI? PCI-E? Did a search before posting on said graphics card and its only in PCI-E hence I was showing him only PCI-E GPU`s :) But yes I did not say I had looked so you are right to assume what you did tho. SWAT_BigBear 0 Posted April 27, 2010 Actually it could be either AGP or PCI-E, Source
stk2008 14 Posted April 27, 2010 Actually it could be either AGP or PCI-E,Source Ah but other give away was his CPU im sure there is only motherboards for that CPU type with PCI-E as its not years and years old AGP is kinda dead now. But still yes you are all correct we should double check hehe so mickkk what ya got?.

W0lle 1052 Posted April 27, 2010 mickkk Do the following: Startmenu->Run (or Windows key + R) and in the window type dxdiag This runs the DirectX Diagnostic tool which allows you to safe relevant system parameters and installed hardware to a text file. Once started it asks you if you want to check if your drivers a signed. Click no and continue. Once completely started, click on "Save all information" and save the dxdiag textfile on your desktop. Now you upload the file to one of the many free filehosters (yousendit.com, rapidshare.com etc). and post the link here. By checking the file we might be able to determine your used hardware better than "guessing". :)
avibird 1 155 Posted April 27, 2010 (edited) I am an Australian who served in WW2, Korea, Borneo and Vietnam. I was born in 1925. I have recently got into computers and would like to buy this game as I havent played one before. My grandson will set it p for me. I need to know if I just need to install patch 1.05, or all the pones befpore this one. Also how do I add all the extras you blokes have made. Is there a list for idiots like me to make it easy? Since my wife died I am bored witless you see. Hoping you can help me. sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this. Regards Mick Is it just me but don't you guys feel this guy is full of crap! My grandfather was in WW2 and wanted to fight in Korea but he was to old to get back into the marines for active combat and this guy said he was in Vietnam as well. I just don't buy it sorry but things don't add up. 85 year old playing a video game with joint stiffness, poor vision and bad hearing. I may be dead wrong and if so my bad. Australia entered World War II shortly after the invasion of Poland, declaring war on Germany on 3 September 1939. By the end of the war, almost a million Australians had served in the Australia fought two wars between 1939 and 1945[2] – one against Germany and Italy as part of the British Australia's involvement in the Vietnam War began as a small commitment of 30 men in 1962, and increased over the following decade to a peak of 7,672 Australians deployed in South Vietnam or in support of Australian forces there If he was 17 years old during WW2 at the end of 1945 and was the first units sent in 1962 that would make him 34 years old. I want to say the cut off age was mid 30's but Maybe I am wrong about him. I just can't see a 85 year old man playing this type of wargame maybe a turn base game. What you think here is absolutely irrelevant. Why an 85 year old grown man should not play this game? At least he's not spamming the forums with crap. This man is looking for help here and not asking if you buy it or not. +1 infraction for spamming this thread and calling him "full of crap".
mickkk 10 Posted April 28, 2010 (edited) Im not going to buy into arguements, I will only say that if you look around, you will see I am not Robinson Crusoe. Your own Basil Plumley is 5 years older than me. Your own General Yeager is 2 years older than me and he still flies F16s, F15s whenever he feels the urge. Have a look at http://www.worldwar2undersixteens.org/profiles/profile-of-the-month.html. Many Aussies joined up underage, it was easy to do. Not so easy for the mothers. Most of us feel terrible guilt to this day. The list is by no means complete and never will be as most are now dead. Back to the matter at hand. Here is the info, glad you understand it. stk2008 14 Posted April 28, 2010 (edited) Ok well yes your mother board is PCI-E ;) as I thought :P. Ok as said by me and others the graphic card you are using is very slow you will struggle with it. Just to see if it helps tho lower every thing in game eg resolution, graphic detail settings etc and just let us know if you think it is a little smoother. All so in the controls section turn down smoothing to say 1/4. There is a load of other little tweaks for arma but if these dont help especially lowering resolution and graphic settings then it will be time to upgrade the GPU first. But I know you will need to. Dont listen to some on here hehe you get them every where but only you know the truth and if you are not who you say you are then its only you who will be lowering your self to pretend to be a hero. Tho I am sure you are who you say you are :) there for a hero :) to me. loves ya :) Edited April 28, 2010 by stk2008
SWAT_BigBear 0 Posted April 28, 2010 (edited) dang stk2008, your up early. I wonder what the grandson recommends for an upgrade? If not already done, you should download, extract and then install the latest DX9 (this doesn't change your DX11). DX9 Feb2010 Vista, you may want to disable UAC (User Account Control) It is in your Control Panel/User Options. It will stop all those popup warnings every time you click something. Be aware though, it is a security feature that helps prevent you installing something you did not mean to install. UAC will allow a complete uninstall of anything that might cause harm to your system. I myself used Vista over a year without UAC. I had 0 issues. mickkk 10 Posted April 28, 2010 (edited) I gather having a pcie is like having the pox, you dont sound too happy about me having it Dr. I have been doing some reading. Seems I need to have a MB that will take the GC that must have a PS that will do the job. My grandson can install a GC no worries, even I can swap a power supply. A new MB would have to go to the shop, same if it needs a new processor unit . Ive looked at some GC sites and I cant find where they list what MB you need. Ive read that 550w is required, I have a 420w power supply. Id be happy if I only need a new GC and PS. We tried every setting possible, took about 5 hours, no point in fiddling, as you said it is the card. I checked my direct x and its the same date as the one you posted, 4.9.904, date modified july 04. It wants to overwrite the same, so I gaher they are the same. We chose this game because it was said to be the best. Watched some youtube and the scenery was so lifelike, I didnt realise that this takes a lot of juice to run. I dont pretend to understand how it effects something as simple as the mouse. It fascinates me how a game is made, all those people coming together to make bits and pieces. I watched the credits, never seen as many names a the end of a film. Then people can add to it and make it better. Not much different to buying a car, just without the peanut gallery. We looked at another game that you can buy that is used my the military as a simulator, forget the name, but it cost thousands! I am wondering if it would be easier to buy a nintendo playstation thing like the grandchildren have, or does this game only work on a computer. Also I was wondering if I can join a channel and just watch other people play? If I just watch and dont use the mouse would it work? stk2008 14 Posted April 28, 2010 Yep up early cant sleep etc for medical reasons hence im off work :( ive worked hard all my life and this is killing me being off. Any who what power supply did you say you have? all so it does not matter if its 500w if its a crappy generic one then I would still consider a better make eg Corsair as I have seen many pc problems because of cheap power supplies. Yes your graphic card looks like it need an upgrade and maybe you power supply. ARMA is the best and no game on a console comes close to it so I say no about a console tho its up to you. Take care maty. P.S Oh no PCI-E is the best thing to have ;) allows you to have better newer graphic cards all the latest tech so no PCI-E is very vry good all so you have 2 of the all running at 16x so very good. SWAT_BigBear 0 Posted April 28, 2010 That other game is VBS1 or 2 and comes from the same company http://virtualbattlespace.vbs2.com/ And yes, PCI-E is a good thing as mentioned above.

mr burns 132 Posted April 29, 2010 Wow, idea games twitter page brought me here. It´s real :D That other game is VBS1 or 2 and comes from the same companyhttp://virtualbattlespace.vbs2.com/ Just wanted to add that theres a free version available sponsored by british MoD. It doesn´t include as many features/units as the pricy version, but since VBS is pressing for performance by not using all of the high end graphical gimmicks it might run good even on that old ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO. The free VBS is not as players friendly either, almost no multiplayer due to 8player restriction, etc. ... but since it´s free it can fill the gap between now and a new gfx card for ArmA2. - see this page http://www.jcove-lite.co.uk/ for info´s on free VBS. I reckon there´s also an ADF Lite version out there, it never saw the light of our world but surely some of the aussies here know better, possibly some active service members can hook you up with it. mickkk 10 Posted April 30, 2010 Thanks for the link, I will give that a try in the interim as you suggest. I see the Yanks employ Hollywood special effects people and make up artists at a training camp recruits go to for two weeks before they deploy in theatre. I must say that is a very good idea, because until you see the claret up close, nothing can prepare you for it and many a good soldier has frozen before being able to give first aid. I used to have a lot of pen pals, now we have changed to email, almost all of them. So computers have a real purpose for older people. If you deal with vets affairs of centrelink you need a computer to get anywhere. It is interesing how modern battlefield first aid has progressed, shown in the hundreds of amputees that now survive to a CCS and then to hospital and rehab. I believe they Yanks try to keep them in if they want that to happen. Ive seen just about every science fiction comic come to life. I wonder if one day, the yanks will form a unit of amputees. All robot arms and legs. Cover the rest in kevlar and you have someone that is hard to put down. Knowing them as I do, I bet they are working on that. mickkk 10 Posted May 3, 2010 Hello, it took a few days to download the above game then many questions of the grandchildren to work out that I had to extract the file, then burn it to a disc, then install it. It seems to work fine. I am in basic training, trying not to shot in the wrong lane. Ive been DHd a few times for shooting the instructor, just to see if he would bleed and similar things. There are so many keyboard combinations to work out, Ive printed the list out and am trying to learn a couple of new ones each time I play. WSAD, arrows,r and m and g are easy to remember. The rest not so but I will get there. Driving I am no good at, there is no brake button. I have never claimed to know much about flying and it shows. As I am learning the time seems to fly by, not very productive but a good challenge for me. I can see how learnig on this game will make it easier for the other. Id say 3 months for me to be able to play this. I am still on the old card, the 5770 seems to be the best choice. My grandosn has done the work and I could have a new/modified state of the art computer for 1500 dollars or so, or a new card for 200 or 400. I know he just wants this one! We have looked a t a lot of videos on youtube. Mainly Kiwi and Aussie ones. One thought springs to mind and take it as you like. There is too much talk. You blokes talk more than the Yanks in the jungle and louder too. Briefings are for talking. If everyones wanting to have the most realistic pretend experience as possible, save your breath for running. I had a good laugh at some of the videos, I know its only a game and you get excited, but yelling out a 50 word direction can not be understood. 3 or 4 words is all you need. In a battle you might hear 2 out of those 4 words and see a hand signal. This is very strange trying to compare reality to the real thing, it a real stretch of my thinking. I would expect the yanks are using similar games to treat PTSD which used to be called shell shock and both are real.
