stk2008 14 Posted April 21, 2010 Hi all well last night me and my friend (yes I do have ONE :P) played a little coop and it was a very good mission I may even tell you the story later hehe. But my question is this we was both at the enemy base I was on a hill as sniper like I all ways am and he was on the ground. I said I will take out the gunner in the vehicle so I ranged me distance etc and then blam fog doh. He said come on take the shot I said I cant see. What he said I cant see Why To much fog Well I have no fog. And this aint the first time this has happened as when he gets rain I dont or vice versa. Or thunder, fog etc etc. Btw i was server we was both using latest ace mod and latest arma 2 patch playing domi ace version. please help on this one is it not fixable as some times I have a spotter with me and if he gets fog rolling in and I dont well thats just silly as he will be useless to me then. Sorry about the long post. Cheers all
Alex72 1 Posted April 21, 2010 Sometimes in MP some have night and some day. Dont know if there is some sync command (script?) needed or even possible. Not sure but i bet someone that knows more will comment.

Not sure but i bet someone that knows more will comment. Weather on clients is normally synchronized via script. ACE contains functionality to do this, if I'm not mistaken. Maybe Domination is specifically designed to be hosted by a dedicated server, not by a client. That could be causing the weather problems in this case. stk2008 14 Posted April 21, 2010 oh cheers for that ok yes i am the server and playing from same pc so that would be good if that is the prob. Im using the latest domi provided with ace updates i extract them from the store folder to mp mission. ok well if its fine on a dedi server than I will have to live with it for now. thanks

Just install the Arma2 dedi server on your machine and run it parallel to the client. You might want to check out some of the server config options pages at the BI Wiki. Basically you can set up and start the server, start up Arma2 and go to the MP menu and the server should show up in the list. Then load up Domination and see how it goes. Note: You'll need to start up the server with the same mod parameters you use while playing, otherwise it won't work properly.
Alex72 1 Posted April 21, 2010 So you can dedi ARMA and play it on the same machine? Does that get heavier than hosting it? I know nothing about these things regarding games and servers but i have to learn quickly cause i have 2 rigs very soon where one will be a 24/7 dedi. jw custom 56 Posted April 21, 2010 So you can dedi ARMA and play it on the same machine? Does that get heavier than hosting it? Works fine for me, it actually runs smoother with heavier missions :)
maddogx 13 Posted April 21, 2010 Works fine for me, it actually runs smoother with heavier missions :) ^^ This. I used to host small games (2-3 peeps) locally and always used a dedi on the same machine. Works like a charm. ;)

Yep. is there not a GUI dedi server tool as this scripting is not my cup of tea Not that I know of, but you could check out the MP forums. Perhaps someone has made a server config GUI tool. There should also be some helpful threads about setting up dedi servers, though the pages on the BI wiki are already pretty straightforward.

max power 21 Posted April 21, 2010 View distance is always set at 1200 default for MP missions. Weather has 2 settings. Weather state at the start of the map and Forecast. If you want a sunny day all day, you have to set both to sunny.
CarlGustaffa 4 Posted April 22, 2010 Domination only controls overcast dynamically. It doesn't touch fog at all. Even if overcast is same on two clients, rain can differ greatly. And there is a separate visibility happening due to rain, but it might be perceived as fog. I've changed this behavior in my own edit. Now overcast, fog, rain, and wind are synchronized (except the small wind variations we can't control) and randomized in a different way. Let me just say that I fully understand Xeno's decision to only deal with overcast ;)
stk2008 14 Posted April 22, 2010 When we was playing domi ace west I had rain and me mate never did I said well lets check wind so wind so we lined up and looked at same spot and yes the wind was exactly the same on mine and his so that's good.
