froggyluv 2136 Posted March 10, 2010 @Rayers12:I still think that ArmA 2 doesn't deserve 40$, speciall when there's gonna be an expansion which will be supposedly better and will cost another 30 or 40$. It's like paying for a demo! It's like I sell you a game and tell you "Ok, I will give you half of the game for 40 bucks, but it's not working. If you want it working, you'll have to give me another 40 bucks". That's bullshit. Wow, you must have some pretty elaborate demos :p The game is huge and by no means can be considered a demo. You may not like the game, but that doesn't disqualify it as a game, and a very good one at that despite some shortcomings. I'd like better AI squad movement/ individual soldier as well so lets see what OA brings in that department.

You may not like the game, but that doesn't disqualify it as a game, and a very good one at that despite some shortcomings. As I understand, a demo is a smaller version of a game that shows parts of that game but doesn't have all the capabilities of it, so you pay for the full game. The difference between this and ArmA2 is that I already paid for the "demo", and the bug-fixing expansion can be considered the full game. What you call "shortcomings" I call them SERIOUS GAMEPLAY HANDICAPS.
dmarkwick 261 Posted March 10, 2010 What you call "shortcomings" I call them SERIOUS GAMEPLAY HANDICAPS. Then I guess you're not after ArmA2 gameplay in that case. It's the only conclusion I can come to, seeing as I've experienced countless hours of absorbing gameplay that was not seriously impacted by any issues. I keep trying to play BF2 (it's still installed on my system even after all this time) but I cannot really get into it. Ergo, it's not the gameplay I'm looking for. As soon as I need that HD space, it'll be gone :)

By that logic, OFP and Arma1 were demos as well as they both lack certain capabilites that Arm2 contains. And if OA lacks any capablities or needs polishing, that too will be a demo until they finally give us "The Everything Game"... Good luck waiting mate... Zipper5 74 Posted March 10, 2010 I won't feed the troll anymore. For those of you who missed it - don't feed the troll. And again, we have the hailing of OFP as if it was perfect this early into it's release. Seriously...

bluesilence 12 Posted March 10, 2010 That’s it. I had enough bullshit for two days. I just passed InstaGoat’s test and… the AI is just HORRIBLE!!! They walk through walls, they don’t use cover properly, they run like mad without looking for enemies, they take a lot of time to react to enemy contact… Your argument against Call of Duty-like shooters is that they haven’t the freedom of ArmA2’s editor. But it doesn’t work! The only thing that barely works is the campaign and the armory’s shooting range. The only thing you can do in this game is run around in the armory shooting guys all by yourself, but when it comes to lead a squad, it’s just an unplayable nightmare. Then the difference between ArmA 2 and Modern Warfare 2’s campaign and special operations mode is nullified. ArmA 2 is far away from a finished product. Then, why do I have to pay for it as if it was finished product?? If BIS releases Arrowhead as a bug-fixing expansion, they must be very, VERY HIGH if they think I’m going to pay again for a game I already paid for (I and other smart people, not sheep running to the slaughterhouse like you). andromedagalaxe 10 Posted March 10, 2010 Video is now up. I think I might be SEVERELY nitpicking in this... all these small problems I point out I don´t mind, 90 % of the time. I think it shows both the good and the bad things. There´s lots of things that could be improved, but at the core the AI already does a decent job, I think. Before people complained about them being way too deadly, now some seem to be unsatisfied with the time they take to aquire targets as well as their precision. They´re still set up for long range combat, I think. For Arrowhead, a lot of things need to be improved to bring Urban Combat to work fully in Arma 2. They need to stop clipping trough fences and user placed objects (when there are a lot of units on the map they also still warp trough buildings when the player is relatively far away) for example. Just bashing the AI, the game and the devs isn´t really constructive, though. The only way things are going to improve is by giving BIS feedback on the improvements they have made and I´m sure will continue to make. Whining or Insults hardly classify as constructive criticism, though. One thing that makes BIS as a company special is that they listen to community feedback: instead of getting angry about things, it´s probably a better Idea to try and be part of the process of fixing the things you don´t like, instead of getting upset about them. There is the community issue tracker, as Alex72 said, so getting involved in that process is also easy. Games today are massively complicated and expensive projects, and only the very largest of companies (such as Blizzard) manage to put out games that are mostly bug free, because they can afford very large Q&A processes. That Arma 2 was released in the state it was in was pretty disappointing, but things are improving, and they will continue to get better, and a large part of that improvement process is community feedback. Wah, sorry for the rant. :v I sometimes just go overboard. Wow, there is no other game where AI even takes cover like this in an random, open world environment. Actually, there is no other game where you can even test the AI like this, except for maybe DR. OP is f-ked in the mind, I think.

W0lle 1052 Posted March 10, 2010 Yet another "oh what a crappy game" thread, and of course Rayers12 is taking part of it. If you really think the game is that crappy, shelf it and move on. Easy isn't it?
