Kamorovo

Recommended Posts

I always find it interesting that BIS uses real life names of towns that actually exist. This resort town near St.Petersburg is also near the sea just like in the game. I went there as a kid in the late 80s early 90s and it was a fun place. There is actually a famous song in Russia about it performed by Igor Sklyar.

and here is the official site for the town

I just thought it would be interesting for you guys to know.

It is based on real-world locations, but its not (probably) the exact same place. That is sort of like saying NY and Liberty City are carbon copies of one another.

To be fair, lots of town or city names are repeated. How many Springfields are in the United States? There's even a London in Canada. I don't know how it is in non-post-colonial settlements but there could be both Komarovo in South Zagoria (if it was real) and in Russia.

I think there was a closed Soviet city named Zelenogorsk or something quit close. And then there's Vybor instead of Vyborg, etc.

Had the same experience when OFP came out and I found some french city/village names that were actual places where I had spent my holidays ;) Montignac comes to mind... good times.
