Dogs in Arma 2

Recommended Posts

Something I have been wondering......on the Arma 2 page in the Arma 2 ingame trailer they show a dog running up to the person. I have never seen any dogs in Arma 2, has anyone else?

Yes there is. In the editor you will find them under "ambient life" unit ... I dont remember the name of the unit but there are two models of those.

I'm new to Arma, but there is one barking in the first mission of the campaign. I was worried the dog was going to give away my position or call attention to my team so I shot it. I felt really bad, but I tried to think like a soldier who has to put the mission first.

I have also seen them in the Armory as "game" you can hunt.

We run a K9 script in our Domination mission that allows us to add a dog to our squads in the field. They're very adept at killing in close quarters.

There's also a script for packs of wild dogs (that will attack everything they encounter)....as well as guard dogs that can be set to patrol certain areas.

Do want.

Have a look through THIS thread. BigDaddy wrote the scripts. There are example missions containing each type of K9 encounters. The most current versions were towards the end I believe.

Nice vid :)

Slightly OT but, I was wondering why the only animal that ever seems to be included in online games is the rabbit. When Arma2 came I was looking forward to having cows, dogs etc running about but it never happened, 'cept for the rabbits. The only reason I can think of is they may look too weird with the warping in multiplayer, is that it? Damn shame either way.

The Behind Enemy Lines SP mission features enemy squads that use dogs to track you. I saw a German shepherd running towards me, panicked, shot it, and then hell broke loose from every direction.

^^ Yeah that mission is fun. Hearing the dogs bark behind you as you run in panic. Enemy units have the dogs so when you hear the dogs getting closer you know problem is coming. :)

Drop the ambient life module into the editor... :)

That would be offline though, wouldn't it ?:) I am wondering why multiplayer mission makers don't include all the animals.

Should work in multiplayer... Don't know why they'd don't use it. Probably not much gain for what it takes CPU wise.

Haha, I did the exact same thing in that scenario. I think the mission maker of that one is Laggy. Was good fun indeed.
