Pulverizer 1 Posted January 10, 2010 COD:MW2 was the best FPS of the year 2009 by any quantifiable and relevant measure, no other FPS comes even close. All I'm saying. Personally I wouldn't play it even if I got it for free.

MehMan 0 Posted January 10, 2010 Hi allArmA II beat Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in the best FPS catagory 2009; ArmA still only came second to Killing Floor. When you consider that ArmA II is a military simulator and not realy made to be an FPS, the fact is beating dedicated FPS games like COD as well as all the other dedicated FPS games is pretty damn good. http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/features/52083/Voodoo-Extreme-2009-Readers-Choice-Awards/p6/c1. I am quite proud I pointed out earlier in this forum the ArmA was becoming more popular the COD despite its massive advertising budget. Kind regards walker Oh my god, you are basing your whole argument on one very very small poll that was rigged. Go you. I am quite proud I pointed out earlier in this forum the ArmA was becoming more popular the COD despite its massive advertising budget. And it's not. Far from it. Stryker_1 10 Posted January 10, 2010 (edited) COD:MW2 and ArmA2?Apples & Oranges. One is a mindless first-person shoot-em-up. The other is a first-person tactical military simulator. The acronym "FPS" is far too broad in my opinion. Well said, FPS is used to often to easily lump it into one class. I hate when products are compared and they are not even the same demographics. Console games are different and PC (True, not cross platform, porting etc...) games are a dying breed. A Console game can be made to feel like a Console game on a PC. A PC game though cannot be made to feel like a PC game on a Console. Notable difference here. You know how many kids got Consoles/Games as an Xmas gift. What an easy purchase for a parent. PC hardware/games are not that simple of a purchase and nor a kid or parent is going to bother. These stats also cross markets. True PC and True Consoles (no porting) are different and should be measured different. These kind of numbers don't mean cr ap when it is not properly categorized. ARMA II is it's own class and DR from CM was suppose to be the ARMA II killer/equivalent and sequel to Operation Flashpoint, and it turned out to be an action rambo style shooter console game. That guy 10 Posted January 10, 2010 Glad ArmA2 could hold onto that number2 position  however that list is a bit wonky. its seems very wrong for me to compare games like Cryostasis, Battlefield heroes, Modern warfare2 and ArmA2 all on the same list. they are all different games I adore both heroes and cryostasis but for very different reasons. and the same with ArmA2. sure they all have guns and you have to point said guns at bad guys until they stop moving but that's about where the similarities end And it makes me happy that Cryostasis pulled ahead of DR :D
