Borg 0 Posted December 31, 2009 (edited) Whatsup! Our band Suicide Chapter just released our first song ever. It's called Bones Held High, and of course, it is about war. It's about the people at home waiting for their husbands, fathers or whatever who's serving in the military. www.myspace.com/suicidechapter Take a listen to it! :) If by any reason someone wants to use it for a video, mod or anything related to operation flashpoint, or ArmA (1 & 2), just contact me and I will send you the song! :) Have a happy new year everybody!:) Edited December 31, 2009 by Borg
Second 0 Posted December 31, 2009 (edited) I don't know about war theme. Don't much listen the words, but sounds does rock. Thing i generally like about UK metal bands (well i don't know many of them) is their guitar riffs. Bolt Thrower plays in my player quite purely because of that, it's just great to hear that guitar gets handled in way that snot flies all over the place (i'm not much of music expert or play anything ;) ). I could see (or hear) this playing in my player from time to time. Yet i'm more Dimmu Borgir liker... Something like complex(-ish), apocalyctic Black metal or something like that (if there has to be definition), or then light folk metal. But this is good basic metal, which works. So yeah. Thumbs up. EDIT: Damn you aren't British. :o Just reminded so much from Bolt Thrower so i presumed automatically so. My bad :D (well i said i'm not much of an music expert) Edited December 31, 2009 by Second
sic-disaster 311 Posted December 31, 2009 Sounds good mate. I love the vocals, and the title is quite wicked! :)
-Total- 0 Posted December 31, 2009 The song is kickass :) As a studio engineer, I just gotta ask this: Did a guitarist mix this? The drums are buried in the mix. The three loudest components in a mix are the kick, the snare, and the vocals. The drums are hiding behind the vox and the guitars. I would also suggest EQ'ing the kick to get some kighlight on the beater strikes. In this genre, a group like Hatebreed is a good reference to listen to for the balance of the snare, kick, lead vox triad :)
Borg 0 Posted January 1, 2010 Thank you very much! :) No, Im not from UK, I'm from sweden! ;) About the mix, yeah, the drums are too low, the song isn't actually fully mixed. We're recording some more songs right now, and when the whole EP is done it will be mixed properly. :) Again, thank you all! :)
Nanthaka 10 Posted January 2, 2010 lower the kick to 100hz and up the snare to 200hz to get a clear sound (sounds awesome on huge system). I like metal but not really my style. Good song well played etc but very generic. On ya myspace page you mention brutal? Seriously? Brutal compared to Guns and Roses, yes but totally lame alongside Anaal Nathrakh. Darkhorse 1-6 16 Posted January 2, 2010 but totally lame alongside Anaal Nathrakh. I don't know what band that is but the name makes it sound VERY brutal. :D. Trying to get myspace to load atm. Always runs slow on my computer for some reason.
celery 8 Posted January 2, 2010 Is Victor Kampf a real name? :D If anyone wants to hear more war themed metal, check out Sabaton, also from Sweden. One of my favorite bands. :)
Colt45_GTO 10 Posted January 3, 2010 sorry its not my kinda thing. i like words to be sung rather than regurgatated. but good luck
sammypetter 10 Posted January 9, 2010 Definitely give it a listen, there is no standout here like Holy Wars or Tornado of Souls but it's a very solid album start to finish, and Chris Broderick brings some great lead playing to the table. Very few people use the term heavy metal to refer to those old bands anymore though anyhow, the term applies to the throwback bands these days but also to the genre as a whole. It's definitely interesting how the genre become much more extreme and much more expansive, with the rise of thrash and the first roots of death and black metal in the 80s, the explosion of melodeath in the 90s, the rise of all the hardcore influenced bands and the explosion of progressive and avante garde stuff in the 00s. nettrucker 143 Posted January 9, 2010 Hi Borg a real heavy tune you got, but you need a proper mix done. The mix is all over the place once you fixed that it will turn out a great song for his genre. Keep on rocking. regards nettrucker
