ffur2007slx2_5 11 Posted December 13, 2009 Which you can only set in the mission editor, and also enforces movement similiar to safe mode, which isnt very stealthy. :p Yeah, it seems that what I can only do is just enforce all my units stay behind and avoid them contacting enemies I guess. Though I might be in dangerous situation.:D
grub 10 Posted December 13, 2009 It seems like some more people here need to remind or search, read & understand how fire commands are given - including proper contact reports. And that we're not discussing "when Spotted". Yes if AI have spotted your units or are firing at them its realistic to fire back, its also just as easy to give the order. I'm talking about when they haven't been spotted and your trying to get as close as possible. ---------- Post added at 08:37 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:54 AM ---------- In OFP I lost many a AI because they didn't shoot back on their own initiative. You mean because you forgot to give the order. I too lost many units in OpF due to this but at least they would listen. Look maybe we do need a few more options here like as suggested earlier because all the suggestions have merit surrounding the particular tactic chosen. I'm talking about when they haven't been spotted and your trying to get as close as possible. Is this reproduceable? A simple big trigger for enemy (side XXXX detected) put on top of units can tell you if opfor detected you. Can you create a repro in which your units are opening fire onto enemy while ordered to hold and having that trigger is not firing? I am not able to, but that may depend on a number of factors ... vilas 477 Posted December 14, 2009 Grub - in my opinion in OFP it was better, also as heal option was better in OFP and Arma1 i know what you say - i remember first disappointment in Arma1 when i planned "sneak in enemy base" mission with some AI spec-ops they opened fire and alarm was on and... mission failed or other missions when for me it was necessary that AI will not fire so from my point of view - i also more like OFP way in this and in "heal" possibility when you are near medic, but he is not under your command sometimes you die in mission because of wounds, while 2 medics are few meters from you, but no heal option allowed :(
CarlGustaffa 4 Posted December 15, 2009 I disagree. The medic is supposed to heal you, not you heal at the medic. That stuff never made sense to me earlier. Yes, I agree that you should be able to get aid from a medic not in your squad, but "healing at medic" would not be the correct way to do it. Not sure what would though. "Can you heal me please?" in the talk interface maybe? Although it can be annoying to get aid from a medic if someone plays him badly, I still think it should continue to be that way.
