What can cause video drivers to stop working?

Recommended Posts

It doesn't seem to matter whether I play MP or SP, in some missions after some amount of time the screen freezes and comes back in 256 colors with a huge error box saying my NV4 (or whatever) video card drivers stopped working. A reboot fixes the issue, but it's not clear what causes it. I've tried different settings on the video menu in game, to no avail. I have the 9800GTX+ video card and get stable 25fps game play with settings really high up there. I'm running XP 32 bit and have had it do this with several different driver versions. It's also never done it with any other game before, with the exception of Arma1, which gave me many of the same errors.

Please, anyone have any ideas?

as "No Use" says it is likely a heat issue

but I have had similar symtom caused by the following:

poorly seated card - remove and reseat.

VGA Voltage too low - increase voltage with adjustment.

PSU too weak - upgrade

Card damaged

I have similar card and find 191.07 driver works well with XP32
