jasonnoguchi 11 Posted December 2, 2009 Ok, must ***** die so early in the campaign or is there something we could have done so the team don't end up in that predicament in the first place?
Inkompetent 0 Posted December 2, 2009 Nothing to be done about it.
jasonnoguchi 11 Posted December 2, 2009 Thanks ink... :( ... guess I can only lead the rest of the team and move on...
Inkompetent 0 Posted December 2, 2009 Yep. That's how the campaign goes :)
manzilla 1 Posted December 2, 2009 I'm not sure what you are asking, my apologies. Are wondering how to advance in the campaign with out losing team members? Or are you talking about the mission where one of them dies and then you assume control of the team? If it's the first, have you tried slowing down? I don't seem to have much trouble losing Razor team members in the campaign. I always thought the mission ends if that happens anyways. If it's the later, yes, he is supposed to die. That's been mentioned around here before. As you said, you just continue on. Not sure if this helps but I'm not quite sure what exactly you are asking about. Good luck in the campaign. Zipper5 74 Posted December 2, 2009 He's talking about Miles' death I believe. Moderators must have removed it as the title spoiled it. As far as I know, and I've played through the campaign multiple times to get the different endings, you cannot save him. Nothing you do will. It's part of the story. manzilla 1 Posted December 2, 2009 Yup that's what I figured, thanks. I never tried to save him, I just figured it was part of the deal.
jasonnoguchi 11 Posted December 2, 2009 Yeah, I actually removed the name in the title myself. I figured anyone who has actually played the campaign would know what I am talking about. :) I was so depressed I actually hit the flight to Germany in my first go...sigh... jeffroland 10 Posted December 3, 2009 umm, if they take the time to make a cutscene for it specifically then it's definitely meant to be.
maturin 12 Posted December 3, 2009 umm, if they take the time to make a cutscene for it specifically then it's definitely meant to be. They created lots of alternate cutscenes for the game.
jasonnoguchi 11 Posted December 3, 2009 ^... That's what I figured and why I think there might be a way of saving him like jumping off the truck before it hits the IED or something but from the comments so far, it seems inevitable.
jeffroland 10 Posted December 4, 2009 They created lots of alternate cutscenes for the game. yea, but Miles can die in the previous missions and you have to play the mission again. So if they specifically have made a cutscene for Miles dying then you know it's meant to be. Use your heads, people. sorry, I'm just a little tired of this question being asked on this forum. It seems like it happens at least once a week. Use the search function, people.

You lose the game if any of Razor's members get killed on your watch, yet they all die in one ending. Same thing. But it is clear that Miles is meant to die, since you have had no significant choices at that point.
jasonnoguchi 11 Posted December 4, 2009 I must still say that this is the best ArmA campaign BIS has made so far. Good job. truly a branching campaign, not like what we got in ArmA1. But the leader dying early scheme sounds familiar...mmm... Wicks? ;-)
johncage 30 Posted December 6, 2009 i disliked this campaign. i gave up after the campaign missions started lagging big time, but apparently you only control 4 guys? i liked lieutenant armstrong having platoon sized units under his control.
jasonnoguchi 11 Posted December 6, 2009 ^... zach, then you should try the "Chesty Puller" campaign. Same story but you play normal marine side taking big squads, multiple squads and eventually a whole army. :)

However, in ARMA II You get to add (buy) soldiers in the last two missions in the campaign. and can have up to 12 soldiers in your squad. In addition, you have high command of other squads, armor, and air units. So, actually you can have a true platoon size unit or larger.
