Is Fade Permanent??

I downloaded the German version of ARMA2. My clan mate can not afford the game, so I gave him my download info. So of course we get the game may degrade or CD key is in use. I am currently downloading a new game with a new CD key. Does his fade keep going, or is he ok??

Downloaded from where? If the copy isn't legitimate, your FADE problems will probably persist. Otherwise it's possible they'll go away once the two of you are using different (and legitimate) keys.

FADE detects whether the core files have been modified, so yes, if he dosn't install/download a legitimate version of the game he will be screwed even if he uses a legitimate CD-key.

No, it's not permanent in all cases, as far as I'm aware. An addon/mod can enable fade, disabling that addon/mod on re-launch stops fade.

CD-key stuff might be different though. Why not just ask him if the FADE effects are persisting?

I think this thread will be closed soon. It is prohibited to discuss piracy on this forum. Should be common sense. Telling people that FADE isn't permanent as well is quite silly, as that may attract further piracy. Ask such questions on the websites you illegally downloaded it from, not on the maker of the game's forum. :rolleyes:

Agree though i think he legally downloaded the game and then shared his info with a mate which is wrong in itself :)

Ive had fade and im fully legitimate, reinstalled game not had it since. not that ive played much lately..

And addons and mods coming in the form of .pbos won't enable fade, so no worries there.

FADE works by detecting modified core file (like a modified exe file) or black listed CDKeys. So as long as you have the original files and don't have a black listed CDKey (which isn't unlikely if you bought the game legit) then you shouldn't get FADE.

Its against the rules around here to talk about pirated games. And im sure especially talking about that you downloaded ARMA2 is even more sensitive - and stupid.

FADE does not go away. You pirate ARMA2 - you loose.

To answer: You wont trigger fade as long as you dont play on the same server online with the same CDkey. So If you bought a new one, its fine for both of you.
