Arma-2-Guru 55 Posted October 11, 2009 Ok, when I ask my team leader what their location is in singleplayer they tell me the grid reference, but how come when one of my men asks me my location I'm not able to tell them, is there a way that you can reply to it with your grid reference? Thanks.

Kristian 47 Posted October 12, 2009 When squadmates ask you'r loaction (AI) you dont need to tell them where you are. They know it, but the "Where are you?" means that they are left behind, and you should wait for a bit for them to catch up with you. In MP, if you need to tell where you are just look at map, if you're playing on vetran, try looking for coordinates and good landmarks (sherlock time!) mrcash2009 0 Posted October 12, 2009 (edited) If your men at any time cannot find you and ask "what is your location" or "Where are you?" etc your out of range for the AI to follow you basically. All you need to do is select the man asking/group asking and then point and click where you want them to be. In the case of getting them back to follow you click next to you and wait for them (or click where you want them to be and where you going next).. they will then use that as a way point top move too. In theory pointing and clicking to specify a point for them to move too is giving them the coords, that's your way of telling them where to be. Once they are clearly near you set them to "regroup" in which case they are near enough and will again follow you. Just repeat if this happens again. Mainly don't run ahead to far, in reality you don't run off without your team so if you find yourself going too far just pause for a moment and let the team members catch up, then you wont find them out of range. Sometimes this might happen if most are following but one gets stuck path finding and slows it down, in that case do the point and click for him. Its all about the point and click, whether that's on screen or via the map :) but again remember to us the F key to select the man you need to tell, otherwise any one else will also stop following and move to that point and you have re regroup them also. Nazul 10 Posted October 12, 2009 Is there anyway to voice the coords at all? Someone mentioned this online the other day because we were playing in veteran and his GPS was not showing for some reason.
Binkowski 26 Posted October 12, 2009 I've never been able to figure out how to tell your men where you are. In any of the games (OFP, ArmA, ArmA2). Maybe I'm just slow?
NoRailgunner 0 Posted October 12, 2009 You may try to use the move order "Advance" too. In some situations the AI's are good and in some unprofessional. I think that AI developments for games are far away from "collective intelligence" or somekind of learning/making proper associations.
mrcash2009 0 Posted October 12, 2009 (edited) The only control to tell AI anything for location is the whole point and click way, so no, you cant voice them coords because even with voice activation its limited to the interface, that being point and click. If your referring to MP only then the map coords bottom/right hand side and compass direction you would voice to your team mates, but that's standard "human" MP procedure. I've never been able to figure out how to tell your men where you are. In any of the games (OFP, ArmA, ArmA2). Maybe I'm just slow? As I said in previous post, point and click is the only way and always was... ive never known it to be anything else. You have to remember that AI telling you grid ref is them simply saying where they are stood, you pointing and clicking with AI selected at a certain position is 1. telling them where to be (this passes the grid ref) and 2. also is the function (pointing where your stood IE: "come here") to pass nearest grid ref to your current position (telling them where you are) ... its just that the info doesn't echo that in message or via voice response like AI do when you request it from them. Its just a "move to" command in the end. I guess what i'm saying is "move to" acts as sending coords for both a destination and giving AI a coord location for your position. AI are like dogs, to make them come to you, you have to point to your feet :) Edited October 12, 2009 by mrcash2009
SASrecon 0 Posted October 12, 2009 this applies to a human squad too, i'd love to be able to tell my squad when i am in a coop game without having to look at the map, working it out then telling it to my team.
