DieterWeber 0 Posted October 11, 2009 It's bullshit that people can press the spacebar and see someone in the bushes with the red name tag.
tobmic 10 Posted October 11, 2009 Well Dieter even if you could choose it in Difficulty settings to turn it on/off then 99% of the Servers would go for the spacebar cheat so dont blame BIS for it. Only server i´ve seen so far having it turned off is "Chernarus Life Server". Does anyone know how to turn it off so you dont see the distance and player names ? I would like to disable it on our server to add more realism
gossamersolid 155 Posted October 12, 2009 its more the high command module is broken. No its not a server setting that is screwed up... in warfare matches you can use something similar to find the other team's base, hence why I removed HC module from awp warfare until they fix it. CarlGustaffa 4 Posted October 16, 2009 (edited) The game needs some sort of ID system, for those unfortunate with blobby textures and/or low resolutions. >150m = No ID whatsoever. <150m = Side indicator. Most can see uniform at this distance irl. In game, some might not. <100m = Name tag added for own squad. You're starting to pickup facial features, and is able to recognize your friends. <50m = Name tag for all friendlies. Can see name tag on uniform. <25m = Health bar/number added. Allows medics to "see" who needs them most. Medics have instinct, and incap anim doesn't do justice on its own. Maybe there should be a bonus against AI, since I feel these guys will ID you very very quickly. But naturally, all objects, including terrain, bushes, vehicles, smoke, weather etc, should prevent or vary this. I've shot friendlies by mistake in multiplayer. Then they get angry with me when I tell them I don't use the spacebar trick :D Especially ghillied "snipers" who put their barrel in my direction instead of freelooking around. These angry "snipers" are very often quite misplaced in a Domination target. Do *you* wait for an unknown ghilli sniper in a mout situation to open up fire on you before you engage? Frankly, I'm more annoyed with servers using autoreveal than this little "cheat". Being a coop player only I think we deserve some kind of "cheat" bonus against AIs magical recognition abilities. Lowering these would make them too dumb for most people to like, as the "natural instinct" can not be simulated. Thats my view anyway. -GCA- Salah ad Din 10 Posted November 7, 2009 The Charlie Foxtrot Mod has somehow turned off the SPACE ID'ing. You can still press Space to access the commands, but no ID info shows up when pointing at something. Check here: www.cfarma2.com
Alex72 1 Posted November 8, 2009 Sometimes i feel it works good. Im pressing but aint getting any more info then MAN. And its about 900 meters so i cant even make out if it is friendly or foe (works good as i can see its a man but not what side). When im able to see the model and that it is indeed friendly or foe (with my naked eye) - the space thingy reveals it. So many times it works real good tbh, but i know there are exceptions, and i would want it to be better myself. Customizable for different needs.
CarlGustaffa 4 Posted November 8, 2009 Can also be deactivated by mission design. Domination has this option in there, but not activated by default.
maturin 12 Posted November 8, 2009 Playing on Expert turns it off, IIRC.
shadowguy 0 Posted September 30, 2013 How do I remove the space ID but keep the weapon cursor? This is on a ARMA 2: CO dedi server. I see this done in DayZ. Maybe it is not possible in ARMA but I had to ask. I couldn't find any answers by searching. Thanks in advance.
Gunter Severloh 4067 Posted September 30, 2013 Should be in the ArmA2Profile FriendlyTag=1; // Displays information on friendly units. ONLY WORKS WITH 'Weaponcursor=0', eg crosshair on. EnemyTag=1; // Displays information on enemy units HUD=1; // Shows you leaders location and your position in formation HUDPerm=1; // Shows HUD permanently HUDWp=1; // Shows Waypoints right after they're ordered to you HUDWpPerm=1; // Shows Waypoints permanently WeaponCursor=1; // Shows the crosshair for your weapon Choose which one you want but make the 1 (one) a 0 (zero). 1 means its on, and 0 means its off. Thanks Gunter, but I am trying to remove the SPACE BAR circle ID'ing players and giving ranges. My group likes the weapon cursor so I have to leave it on. My profile settings for both Regular and Veteran; Armor=0; FriendlyTag=0; EnemyTag=0; HUD=0; HUDPerm=0; HUDWp=0; HUDWpPerm=0; HUDGroupInfo=0; AutoSpot=0; Map=0; WeaponCursor=1; AutoGuideAT=0; ClockIndicator=1; 3rdPersonView=0; UltraAI=0; AutoAim=0; CameraShake=0; UnlimitedSaves=0; DeathMessages=1; NetStats=1; VonID=0; If it can be done in DayZ, it should be possible in ARMA2.
