Evolution bug list - any help?

tip: you can always choose T and TRANSFER and NEW and JOIN to change groups from your AI, or else you can join in a different squad by changing your slot - class etc

argh a slight problem with helicopter respawning atm - fixing

yeah tested it this week - put it on the server while i was away for work a lot - the guys on the server have 1700 points etc but the planes are all respawned - so its fixed - ive just posted it up still as v22 here

yeah - once the buglist is ironed out the community will have a base default evo to develop - thats my thoughts.

it could do with someone who is a good coder looking over my shoddy work and working out more elegant ways of scripting some of the routines as they do cause lag when too many routines overlap - occasionally.

the obvious candidates will be:

EVO RED (unmodded) - i can't wait to get attacked by a wing of A10's with the A10 hifi sound on - will be scary

EVO BRIT (modded) - the landrovers and lynxs and stuff as well as uk soldiers and weapons - we had this in arma 1 and it was awesome

EVO ACE (modded)

EVO SAHRANI ACE BLUE (map needed ace too - minoza is developing this well atm)

EVO SAHRANI ACE RED - (plus mi28s etc etc) - I have the basic extensions for this from my arma 1 versions (e.g. island side missions all over the place - was great)

EVO SAHRANI ACE BRIT - I have a brit one for arma 1 already too, so should be an easy port

other ideas?

how are you guys playing it anyway? We're playing it

equipment and vehicle locked

no teleporting except MHQ/ReconHQ

hard difficulty

and 600 points for colonel (100 pts per rank)

and the gameplay just simply ROCKS!

Everything on default mostly I have played locked and unlocked and changed environment just to check it out.

Last settings:

Regular (wimp)

Equipment and Vehicle Locked

All teleporting

default rank (should move it up)

Environment= EVO

And yes it does Rock !

its good to keep it regular in terms of the base difficulty (as the waymarkers are so basically important for teamplay) but turn up the evo difficulty - this increases the frequency of the spetsnaz and aircraft only atm, but will soon also increase the number of units in each city...

Hello

I hope that the t funtion can change a bit.

In gameplay you can call allot off times the boms if you need for my feeling you can call to muts.

It will be better if you can use the boms (arty or ICBM and athor chooses) not more than 3 times to use in gameplay.

Did play this now many hours i have the feeling its to simpel gameplay make it bitt difficult put a limit on about to use it for every count off boms not more than 3 times.

fair comment - download the new version (still called v22) and it costs you points for artillery etc properly now - this was an original feature that I disabled during development.

If you set the colonel rank at say 600, then you won't overuse artillery, as it will prevent you from ranking up.

Yes the server where i play have change it need more points before u total free to use the t funtion and this gameplay i like it more.

NEW BUG - when you cance la side-mission the objective remains on the map/ in the tasklist - trying out different options like

_obj1 settaskstate "Canceled";

_user removeSimpleTask _obj1;

to see how to get rid of side-mission objectives

ok i've modified the menu screen at server start to allow you to toggle on or off the mando hitch and the GITS 5 round grenade launcher ammo. this will reduce minor but annoyoing error reports if you dont have the GL mod and also enables you to run the mission in ACE i think...

to reduce the bugginess after city 6 or so

to increase the skill of enemy units with difficulty paraneter

to increase both the unit and group count and respawn frequency with difficulty parameter

For ALL GITS EVOLUTION MISSIONS

ADDED Enabling up to 8 AI helpers, either on a ranked or unlocked basis. Unlocked means you can call in all 8 from mission start. Ranked means you get 1 with each rank. Locked means no AI's can be called.

ADDED Teamkiller punishment - Enabled causes anyone with less than -5 points to be jailed for 60 seconds. This means that you can crach one helicopter but no more without generating some positive scores! Disabled - it does nothing to negatoive scorers.

FIXED Removed the buggy tomahawk

IMPROVED reduced the overkill air units and spetsnaz assaults

IMPROVED the unit counts in cities as they were too few in recent releases

FIXED HALO no longer breaks the T menu

IMPROVED Transfer to LHD Carrier is now part of enable MHQ teleport (default ON) and Farp/Docks teleporting is now default OFF

FIXED Red cross hatch marking circles now appear around cities with active AA vehicles. Increased units to 2x tunguska and 2x shilka.

IMPROVED Removed shilkas from default enemy mech units and reinforcements. Removed empty ambulance also

ALMOST FIXED enabled capture of POW's for 3 points each - still needs a little work

IMPROVED Intro song "African tribal chant" for Duala map

IMPROVED set default start time to 7am on Duala and Panthera to account for later sunrise on these maps

|GITS| Evolution – Mission Briefing

Welcome to Evolution soldier! Now pay attention and listen up, because we are facing a toughened enemy this time. This briefing will keep you focused on your objectives, and will no doubt save your life...

Headquarters

If you disconnect and reconnect your score and rank will be retained.

When you first spawn, you will see a Respawn-HQ fixed-vehicle and an Ammo Dump.

Getting into battle - Respawn HQ & Fast Travel

When near the Respawn-HQ at the Airbase you can request a transfer to locations displayed in the Action menu (wheel down).

Destinations include:

• MHQ Ambulance

• Recon HQ

• 3 Permanent FARP's (A,B,C)

• HMS-GITS Aircraft Carrier

• Skalisty Island

• South West Docks

You can also Request Action/HALO (High Altitude, Low Opening) parachute insertion from the Respawn-HQ. You start at 10,000m over the Halo Insertion Point near the centre of Chernarus. Use your mouse to steer. Press ESC to open your chute at >100m. Open it higher and you will have a long time to admire the scenery.

Mobile Headquarters - MHQ & Recon-HQ

At Respawn HQ you can transfer to either of these Mobile Headquarters (MHQ) in the field:

• The MHQ Humvee Ambulance respawns automatically at the airbase once destroyed. Moving the Ambulance near to your objective is a wise move. Your comrades can then re-spawn there and join the battle quickly. You can also Heal at the ambulance. Beware! Do not endanger the Ambulance, as you cannot spawn there if it is damaged.

• The Recon HQ Humvee is created/ removed by the Commander and does not respawn automatically. Unlike the Ambulance you can still respawn at the location of the Recon HQ even if it has been destroyed. NOTE: If there is no commander at the start of the mission, there is no location for the Recon HQ and choosing to respawn at it will send you for a swim! The Recon HQ is a more flexible respawn point, as it still functions if destroyed. Use it to penetrate deep behind enemy lines.

Ammo Dump

Here you can equip yourself with weapons. Be sure to access the crate only when you have your primary weapon equipped and when you are in standing position - this will prevent loadout save bugs. You will see “Weapons Saved†message if your loadout has saved correctly. You will then respawn with this loadout.

Classes

Some notes on classes. When you first join the server you can choose from a range of classes:

Commander

The commander can deploy a Recon HQ – a forward rally point where his team can respawn. He can also build a large command bunker – ideal for protecting the spawn point and the vulnerable Ambulance.

Medic

If you're a Medic you can Action/Build MASH (Mobile Army Surgical Hospital) when players heal (enemy inflicted wounds) you get points. As Medic your priority must be healing. You can also heal yourself and other players directly from your Action/Heal Menu.

Engineer

If you're an Engineer/ Demolitions Expert you can Action/Build FARP (Forward Arming and Refueling Point) when you are near a Repair Truck. If a vehicle is fully repaired at your FARP you will earn points. As Engineer your priority must be repair.

Sniper

Snipers are equipped with ghillie suits which offer them extra concealment from the enemy. They can deploy Action/Camo Nets and Action/Build Ladder to place a ladder near to a building to access rooftops etc.

Pilot

Pilots can access any aircraft regardless of rank.

Build Special

This Action option is different for each class of player:

• All Build foxhole

• Commander Recon HQ / Command Bunker / Mortar

• Engineer/ Build FARP / Disarm mine

Demolitions Expert

• Medic/ MASH / Field Hospital

Corpsman

• Sniper Ladder/Camo net

• Pilot Refuel Depot

• Anti-Air AA gun/Igla Pod/ Stinger Pod /Kord

• Anti-Tank TOW Pod / Metis-pod/ M119 cannon / SPG9

• Spotter Call in Tomahawk firemission

• Heavy Gunner MG Nest / Kord/ M2/ Dkshm

• Grenadier Mk19 Grenade Launcher

Ranking

You are awarded ranks based on your score. The rank multiplier is set at startup and may range from 10 to 200 points.

0 points = PRIVATE

1 x multiplier points = CORPORAL

2 x multiplier points = SERGEANT

3 x multiplier points = LIEUTENANT

4 x multiplier points = CAPTAIN

5 x multiplier points = MAJOR

6 x multiplier points = COLONEL

So for example, if rank multiplier is 20, then Colonel will be awarded at 6 x 20 = 120 points.

If the multiplier is set at 100, then corporal will be awarded at 1x 100 = 100 points and colonel will be awarded at 6 x 100 = 600 points.

Each rank unlocks new vehicles and weapons, new support options and allows you to recruit more types of AI soldiers into your squad.

Vehicles : MHQ / ReconHQ / Motorbike / Any HMMWV / MH60S Helicopter

CORPORAL : 10 Points

( x Rank Multiplier set by server admin at start).

Vehicles : AAV Armoured Personnel Carrier / LAV25HQ Light Armoured Vehicle with M240 / UH1Y Venom Helicopter

SERGEANT : 20 Points.

Vehicles : LAV25 Light Armoured Vehicle / MV22 Osprey

LIEUTENANT: 30 Points.

Vehicles : AH1Z Cobra Attack Helicopter

CAPTAIN : 40 Points.

Vehicles : M1A1 Main Battle Tank / F35B Lightning Air Combat Fighter / AH64S Apache with sidewinders

MAJOR : 50 Points.

Vehicles : M1A2 TUSK Tank / AH64D Apache with Hellfires / AV8B Interdiction Harrier with AGMs/Mk82s

COLONEL : 60 Points.

Vehicles : AV8B2 CAS Harrier with FFARs/GBUs / A10 Warthog / AC130 Spooky Gunship*

* At the airfield there is only one AC130 Spooky with a side facing cannon – this is a trial aircraft and it does not respawn. The other C130J does respawn, but has only a massive amount of pilot controlled firepower.

Servicing your vehicles

• There are many vehicles and planes available in your HQ and at FARP's as well as boats at the Dock, Carrier and Island.

• You gain permission for using the planes and vehicles with your rank. If a land vehicle is destroyed it will respawn in the field but will need repair with a repair truck and Engineer / Demolitions Expert making a FARP.

• Fuel can be obtained at FARP's, Gas Stations, and Pilots can build a Refuel Depot.

• Aircraft respawn automatically at base after 10 minutes.

• If you're in command of a vehicle, stop at the Airbase, Aircraft Carrier, FARP or marked Docks to be fully serviced with fuel, repair and ammo.

Arming aircraft

Each aircraft in Evolution has extra weapons and ammunition available. When you first enter the vehicle, allow it to service at the airfield/ FARP before you try to move. This will re-equip and re-arm your aircraft.

If the aircraft has more than one seat, be sure to enter the gunner seat first, then exit, then enter the pilot and allow servicing. This will fully re-equip your aircraft with the bonus armaments available.

Special vehicle functions

Only GBU and Hellfire armed aircraft can lock-on to infantry laser designators.

Most aircraft have a missile camera – you can follow the bomb/missile into target via TV. To return to cockpit view press any key.

Helicopter Pilots can winch vehicles into and out of battle. Learn to winch! You can rapidly deploy your forces this way. You have a special Hitch HUD Action in vehicles with this ability. Hover less than 12m above the vehicle and select Action/Pick-up to winch it and Action/Drop vehicle to release it.

Pilots of aircraft earn points for carrying soldiers into battle from the Base. The MH60 helicopters respawn after 5 mins, so you can use them to shuttle your squad quickly into battle.

Campaign Objectives

To complete the campaign, you need to re-take 11 cities in Chernarus. There are 4 objectives for each city.

City Objective 1 – Neutralise Air Defences

Each city is protected by Air Defences. Locate and destroy 3 Anti-Air units to protect your own airborne units.

Once all three units are destroyed the red hatching will disappear from the map (this does not currently appear).

City Objective 2 – Cut Communications

Each city contains a Radio Tower. Destroy it to prevent reinforcements being sent to the city under siege.

Enemy reinforcements include armour arriving by road, Airborne troops and special units by lorry.

Radio Towers can only be destroyed with a satchel charge. Each player in your squad receives 10 points for successfully cutting communications.

City Objective 3 – Capture Commander

Each city has an unarmed Commanding Officer. He is a PRIORITY TARGET. Capture him and each unit in your squad receives 20 points. Never shoot the officer, he is always unarmed. Beware of bombing/ grenading the area where he is located. If the Officer gets killed accidentally 11 points will be removed.

City Objective 4 – Clear City

Once the Radio Tower is down, proceed to sweep the area and kill all armed enemy units until the bastards surrender.

When a city falls, the last remaining troops drop their guns and can be captured (not currently working for lesser ranks) for 5 points per head. To capture enemies you must first identify them (default right click) then choose the action Capture.

Do not shoot unarmed soldiers - if you kill an unarmed enemy you will be fined 5 points and may be demoted - and you will find my boot in your ass!

Enemy troops mounted on Static weapons - MG's, Grenade Launchers or Artillery Cannons - will not surrender - shoot them on sight!

The objectives then move to the next city to capture.

Task Menu Options

You can change some settings in the Task menu (press T) and you will have specific options to your class in your Action menu (wheel down).

View Options

In T/Options you can set your terrain detail (grass), View distance and Air view distance (How far you see in a plane or chopper). High settings may make your system unstable.

Joining a Squad

In T/Transfer you can join another players squad. This means you can see each other in HUD and on the map, and share map markers and notes, as well as your commander being able to issue you commands. It also means you share in reward points for City Objectives and Side Missions.

Recruiting AI Units

In T/Recruitment you can recruit AI units into your squad. They are controlled by the Squad Leader. The medic available at Corporal is useful!

Side missions

In T/Assignments you can request a Side Mission for points. You can choose from the following missions:

Water Patrol Eliminate 3 enemy boats

Land Patrol Sweep an area and eliminate all enemy ground forces

Combat Air Patrol Sweep an area and eliminate all enemy air forces

Search and Rescue – Locate and Rescue a priority unit (Doctor/ Pilot, etc) and return him to base

Ambush Convoy Track and destroy a 4 vehicle convoy

Ambush Troop Track and destroy a 7 vehicle convoy protected by

Convoy armour and 30 troops

Destroy Armour Locate and destroy 2 to 4 heavy armour units

Defence Protect a team of friendly troops from several waves of enemy assaults

Rendition Locate and capture a high-ranking enemy officer and return him to base

Extermination Locate and destroy all members of the People’s Temple Cult before they set off a WMD

Rescue Agent Locate and rescue a top agent and return her to the Aircraft Carrier in the South West

Assassination Wait in ambush on top of the International Hotel and assassinate a fleeing General and his men

Each squad member will score between 10 - 40 points for completing a Side Mission.

Support options

CROSSROAD is able to offer a range of personal support for your team in this mission.

In T/Support choose the support option you require.

As you earn points, you will be promoted and new support options will become available. Each option has a cost which is subtracted from your score. Kills from deploying artillery will be added to your score.

The location of deployment for a support option is marked by specially coloured smoke:

• Supply Drops White smoke

• Smokescreen White smoke

• Weapons/vehicles Blue smoke

• Marker smoke Green/white mix

• Artillery Red smoke

• WMD (Nuke/chem) Yellow smoke

Waypoints and markers

You can set a personal waypoint by holding shift and left clicking the map. Remove a waypoint by holding alt and left clicking the map. You can double-click on the map to mark locations. Press UP/DOWN ARROW to change icons before you type the name of the marker. NOTE: Setting the communications channel to e.g. side/ global will allow other players to see your markers.

FIXED uninitialised players no longer lose directional control of HALO

FIXED RACS m113, vulcan MH6 etc were impervious to ranklock being disabled

IMPROVED 3 types of F4 Phantom's in the modded missions now have different weapon loadouts (AA, CAS and MR)

Hey eggbeast. I had a problem with 0.26 where someone joined my dedi and was able to use a TOW HMMVV with zero points, even though it was rank locked. Another player (and I ) tested it and we were not able to get in as driver. I'm not sure whether this player was hacking or whether it was a bug with the slot/other code.

Apart from that my dedi slows to a minimum of 33fps when a town is populated with troops, that then rises again as they die :)

the reinforcements are NEARLY working.

the recruitment is NEARLY fixed

the capture POW's is NEARLY fixed

I'm almost there with thisstuff.

then it's the squad joining, managing leader death in side missions and being able to move the ladder/ statics with a little logistics scripting and the base mission will FINALLY be complete.

Thanks for the quick reply :) I played Unlocked, but I would like it with less accurate AI, so I don't get killed in a instant :D

So there is no "easy" way to turn the AI down :eek:.

It depends how you play it. Do you join a server? Do you host it? Or do you set up your own server and play on it?

If you answered yes to the last 2 questions the A.I. is configured in game through options/game options/difficulty/then use sliders
