mr_centipede 31 Posted October 10, 2009 I think this game needs more life into it, so I think bringing more animation could add up the life a bit more. Idle anim for the civilian could be added more, as most of the time the CIVVIE just stand there doing nothing. Only a few instance that I saw a man and a woman seems to be quarelling. It really adds a bit of life. For the SOLDIERS, Maybe can be add too, but I dont have an example to give. Death anims. This really need more variations of it. I think OGR sports about hundreds of death anim and it's very immersive to watch, as there is almost no 'clones'. They also have anim for being killed by explosives like grenade. The target got thrown of a bit kind of animation. I think this can be added in a patch progressively over time. As for battle gestures, I dont really have any particulars in mind, but more variations couldnt hurt. Not just for leaders giving out arm signal, but common soldiers also, signalling the 'go! i'll cover' command. Just an example There you go, a bit of more life into the game. Hope it can be done regards
Wire 0 Posted October 10, 2009 I absolutely agree with you on this mate. If it is ever possible to impliment, id love to one day have a team of 5 or so soldiers run next to me, then when i stop instead of them just idling thier gun on their front and looking at me for the next command, actually have some "personality" and maybe use their hands to act like they are readjusting the strap on their vest or rubbing their back or even acting like they are surveying the area. Even when simply on "safe" and patrolling, instead of all generically walking with the gun strapped infront of their chest, have one resting the gun on one hand instead, or craddling it, etc. I have no experience in modding so i wouldnt know if this is hard or easy, but nevertheless, it should be taken into consideration
maturin 12 Posted October 10, 2009 The civilians do have a few high-quality mocap animations, but you have to stare at them for a few seconds for them to do anything. The arms signals need to be fixed first. They aren't animations so much as the devs just bending the arm skeletons in strange ways that cause your hand and forearm to swell to the size of a javelin. Flash Thunder 10 Posted October 10, 2009 BIS owns there own MO-CAP studio right??? BIS should be top notch with there animations I agree! :D This game would be just that more immersive if we had proper physics on the bodies when being thrown up by explosives or being shot by a big caliber, BIS needs to improve on the Hand signals also they look very deformed and they're too quick, maybe add some more animations when incapacitated or reloading could use a few extra animations since it seems they all share the same one. Make good use of your investments BIS! sic-disaster 311 Posted October 11, 2009 More variation never is a bad thing. However, one thing i would like to see more is redone animations for running while unarmed or carrying a pistol, that is one horrid animation!
Chunk3ym4n 10 Posted October 12, 2009 I wonder how they even did the sprinting animation when unarmed in a mocap studio. It doesn't look normal at all!
IronTrooper 0 Posted October 14, 2009 ... Death anims. This really need more variations of it. The target got thrown of a bit kind of animation. I think this can be added in a patch progressively over time. ... OGR also seems to have a collision detection for death animations so the bodies don't fall through walls. The guy in the vid is sort of pushed away from the wall when falling: http://v4.tinypic.com/player.swf?file=2dueb9c&s=4 And if there was no space then a different animation would be chosen. I wonder how difficult it would be to make such a system in ArmA.
spork 10 Posted October 14, 2009 there needs to be a better running-to-crouch animation. the sprinting or running to crouch animation is really slow and clunky, it needs to be more fluid, or even something like americas army
