Magel282 10 Posted October 20, 2009 I have no ideas if this might be caused by Hyper Treading and I can't disable it in BIOS, due to endless power-loop (on-off-on-off) Do you have an up to date bios?
Priit 10 Posted October 20, 2009 Thanks for the fast reply, guys! Why can't you disable it in BIOS? I don't understand the power loop reference. I searched google about my power loop issue and it seems that there are lot of things, that might be wrong: Faulty CPU Faulty Motherboard Incompatible Memory modules Only god knows what Looks like that I'm not alone with this problem, there are some UD3R users, that have similar issues. This is what i have been found out so far: link1,link2,link3 Do you have an up to date bios? I'm using rev 1.6 version of the motherboard, so I really have no idea what BIOS version it has currently. I know that for sure that i haven't change any settings in BIOS, other than disabling integrated audio device, due to x-fi xtreme music card. I also forgot to mention that it's not clocked in any way. All the parts are running at stock speed, temperatures are all normal. Nvidia physx is disabled. Using 191.03 drivers, the result was same with 191.07, and even with 186.18. At this point, I'm open to all sugestions. PS: Sorry for my bad English.
Akilez 10 Posted October 20, 2009 (edited) Prit I'm pretty convinced this will go away as soon as you disable HT. Your English is fine mate but what I don't understand is how you can play the game but can't get into your BIOS. I saw the speed of your 920 and thought you were running stock which is a really good idea. Just hit 'delete' when it's POSTing and get into the BIOS like you did when you disable the audio. Find the CPU settings and disable 'HyperThreading'...save and exit. The power cycle issue must not be happening all the time or you couldn't play at all or am I missing something? Good Luck Edit: I just re-read those links concerning the power cycling and if that is going on then that definitely needs to be addressed. The disable HT will likely fix your texture issues but a power cycling PC is a sick puppy. This is not the thread for an issue like that but if it runs properly in Safe Mode try going into msconfig and disabling startup items to see if that settles it down. Sounds like h/w to me but who knows. Might need to strip system down to CPU and one RAM stick and go from there. Again best of luck. Priit 10 Posted October 21, 2009 I was able to change any other option in BIOS and even save it after that, but when I'm trying to disable Hyper Treading, then it's just looping endlessly. I took all the other stuff out of the case and disassembled all the not needed wires. Still no luck. Maybe I should try 4-pin motherboard connector instead of 8-pin. I even tried with one memory module, but it still kept looping. Might it be the fault of dual-bios? Or even wrong memory timing. I think it's getting way off topic here, but I just don't have any ideas, how to fix the HT loop thing. Youtube video: l24GpdhKOkc

When you turn on your computer the post screen will say what bios verison you have. So you will either have FA or FB. FD4 is a beta bios so you wont have that one. the chief 15 Posted November 1, 2009 (edited) Well as mentioned previously, I was having the same CTDs as many here. I Have now altered my ingame video settings to all be high rather than using default. I am using the latest Nvidia driver 191.07 I am using the latest ArmA2 beta patch 59857 I am using -maxmem=2047 and -winxp I have turned off HT in the BIOS setup. So far so good. Early days, but I have not seen the stuttering and graphical problems and CTDs to date. I will continue to post here to keep all updated. Thanks for suggestions everyone. This is what PC gaming communities are all about. Edited November 1, 2009 by the chief spelling
the chief 15 Posted November 7, 2009 1 week later, after turning off the Hyper Threading for my I7 CPU in the BIOS setup., I can confirm that all is now alot better. So now I run ArmA2 with the following setup and this works well for me: I Have now altered my ingame video settings to all be high rather than using default. I am using the latest Nvidia driver 191.07 I am using the latest ArmA2 beta patch 59928 I am using -winxp and -maxmem=2047 in the command line to launch ArmA2 I am turned off v-sync in the NVidia settings for ArmA2 I have turned off Hyper Threading for my I7 CPU in the BIOS setup. I can now play missions on multiplayer dedicated servers without crashing to desktop. Typically I am getting good FPS, anywhere between 30-60 even when a mission has many entities on the map, in fast moving vehicles, in urban areas and forests.
