Antichrist 0 Posted March 25, 2002 That was most shocking AA I've ever seen! Denzel Washington and Halle Berry getting oscars cause they're black? If this is not racism what is? Most pathetic movie Beautiful Mind getting Best Picure? Its even worse than Titanic! Pearl Harbor for sound editing? Yeah right!!! This is really getting worse every year!!! Antichrist 0 Posted March 25, 2002 They were for 2001 movies so I have no idea why anyone would call them 2002 AA Yes, whatever
Die Alive 0 Posted March 25, 2002 It's only the end of March, I'm still gettting used to writing the year starting with a 2 instead of a 1. As for those oscars, I stopped giving a shit about Hollywood or it's movies for 4 years now. Â Last year, I saw over 100 movies in the theaters, only 6 of them were hollywood crapbusters. Â Last night FOX had Independence Day on (in place of the Simpsons), man that movie was crap. Â Then I switch to CBS and they got this Executive Decision on, even more bullshit. Â Oh yeah I really liked that "Get a counter terrorism team on board a cross-atlantic flight by having a F-117 fly under the plane, then have the team get on board by using a passage way from the F-117 to the jet liner to stop the hijackers." Â Amazing. -=Die Alive=-
John C Flett 0 Posted March 25, 2002 How about Halle and Denzel getting the oscars cause they deserved them. Sure its all about taste but I'm certainly glad they were the winners. Denzel in particular has been a top notch actor for many years and I'd say that many films he was in were only noteworthy because he was in them. Even happier that Mr Tantrum Crowe didn't get best actor. Still it is all political and not worth getting too worked up about. Awards never reflect anything worthwhile and the Oscars are so selective its hard to see why anybody still takes them seriously.

Placebo 29 Posted March 25, 2002 Have you seen every film that was nominated? If not how can you assume they weren't deserved?
ralphwiggum 6 Posted March 25, 2002 Denzel's performance in 'training day' was so brilliant, that when the reviews first came out ppl were saying, 'he's so good, he make you hate him(the character)' same with Halle Berry, her emotion-filled acting in Monster's Ball was amazing. 2 black actors won the oscars, not because of their color, but because of their awesome performance. so what is not racistic? all-white winners? or one colored winner that can dance around and sing around when he/she wins?(remember Cuba gooding jr.?) I agree with John Flett. AA is about industry ppl giving awards to each other. not about how we feel.
Die Alive 0 Posted March 25, 2002 Shouldn't they make it just one award for acting? Why have one for each sex? There aren't two awards for make-up (best male makeup/best female makeup), nor for directing. Isn't acting the same for males and females, or is there differences that warrent separate awards. -=Die Alive=-
Placebo 29 Posted March 25, 2002 Perhaps because male and female roles differ so much? An male role demands different things from a female role and vice versa, an actor brings different things to a role than an actress, and vice versa
Sadico 1 Posted March 25, 2002 I'm glad Denzel Washington won the oscar, he is one of the best actors out there
Placebo 29 Posted March 25, 2002 Yup I would certainly agree with that, I too think he's an actor of immense talent and presence, I haven't seen Training Day but from what I've heard he gives an immense performance, I'm glad he won and I hope now he gets offered more of the roles an actor of his talent deserves. Ex-RoNiN 0 Posted March 25, 2002 I don't think that present day actors have either the script or the patience to be in the same class as Omar Sharif, Peter O' Toole, Anthony Quinn and Alec Guiness and the like. Their class will be unreachable forever. /me bows to the giants

nordin dk 0 Posted March 25, 2002 Halle Berry is just so f*cking beautiful...I haven't seen the film she won the Oscar for, so I don't know about her acting in that one. I remember her from the good old days, when she appeared out of nowhere in the otherwise lousy "Boomerang". ...anyway, the Oscars have lost their credibility to me. Gladiator, best movie in 2000? Crap!

sergeant rock 3 Posted March 25, 2002 I personally think they should have passed out cyanide laced popcorn at the AA's and done the world a favor. Â So many award shows exist to cater to the ego's of this small elite sector of society whose excessive, lavish lifestyles are a slap in the face to any poor, honest working man or woman in the world. Â In interviews they go on and on about how tough it was to do this role or that role, or how hard it is to be on the set all day.....hard work?....tell that to some poor factory worker busting his balls for 70 hours a week to support his family, whose lifetime cumulative income will be a fraction of that actors salary for saying 5 lines of dialogue. Â They are far out of touch with the common man. Sorry to rant, but it makes me sick sometimes to see the way society (particularly American society) cowtows to thier own "royalty".
