mod A better than mod B etc. i told about it in other topic

remember that addonmakers make it's stuff free and asking a question what is the best may demean work of other person who give's his time free

and what cryteria you propose ?

what is "the best" ? the closest to realism ?

what is "best" cryteria ? look, realism, good hollywoodish sound or realistic sound

how you wanna players to judge sound mods ?

do you belive there is a player which shot from AK74, AK107, Barret, M16, MP5, M24, who droven HMMV, UAZ, URAL, USMC truck, LAV25, T90 to say what is best ? :P

tastes are hard to discuss, cause everyone has his own taste, there were even LEGO addons in OFP :)

if you try to ask about "what is best" try to think about cryteria of choose

many people use something do not mean it is good :P for example many people eat not healthy fastfood instead of healthy - think about word "the best" before you ask such questions

cause i know people who praise wrong models of something

for me "better" means "closer to realism" (unless mod is aiming not in Sci-Fi like future/cosmic/other civilisations), and for you ?

I'm not gonna say if it's best/worst/whatever to prevend flame wars, but my choice is:

Vopsound 2.1

TangoRomeo's Tracked Vehicles

RobertHammer's Heli sounds

HiFi A-10

Thanks Cole! (I meant which one you preferred...In terms of realism and not in terms of unrealism)

Why are you concerned about what other people think is the best anyway?

Even IF you did not download them and try them at least you went and had a look at some videos so that you got an idea of what they sound like.

This is all a matter of personal preference. Every soundmod has an inconsistancy with everyones likes (for example, soundmod X has a better AK sound than Y, but X's m16 sound maybe total crap compared to Y in your opinion), therefore you have to come to some kind of compromise over which you think as a whole is better than the other. My interperation of the word best in your question is favourite, hypothetically speaking this is similar to asking everyone what their favourite music is, what would this achieve? Are you a mainstream guy and like to listen to what everyone else listen's to because it's the 'cool' thing to listen to nowadays? Please, elaborate.

Anyways, I have nothing more pointless anymore to rant about. Check my sig, you will find another sound mod which is also in these forums.

No problem ;)

The choice I listed is working together just beautifully (though if you want to use HiFi A-10 1.3 with VopSound you'll have to disable VopSound aircraft sounds _theyre in separate pbo's, one for sounds and one for configs_).

Also, you might want to ask a moderator to rename your topic to something like Preferred soundmod(s)? The current topic name might work as a flamestarter when certain users see it. (Hey, we don't need more flame wars, the forums are already infested with trolls, that's enough! :D)

Imo, I would say that the best sounds out there (as I make sounds myself) are the ones that are "clear", "close to the realworld but not noisy", "touch of hollywood in them", "realistic echo for not sounding strange indoors (as ArmaII soundsystem has its limits)".

What I would prefer my self is either that you go for pure realism (wich some might see as poor tiny effects) or that you only stick to hollyoodsounds that are beefy and poweful.

The best soundengine out there (and observe that I mean the engine, not the sounds themself) is Battlefield: Bad Company's... As its extremly enjoyable to experience their clever soundsystem. I mostly consider the explosions or bassy powerful high sounds that you brain believes are higher than the other "smallarm-sounds", when the engine itself lower all the othersounds and maintains the quality and volume of the powerful explosions. Both close, medium range and distant. It lovely.

I can only dream that Arma II would have this soundengine itself, because then any soundpack would be pretty easy to make. :D

This mode is important since compatibility issues between soundmods... I would reallly appreciate mode like this.

Vopsound 2.1 is IMO the best all-around. Like an earlier posted said you can supplement it with tracked vehicles, helo sounds, etc.

Well, I'm working on one, as always, realistic like. I am hoping that Mark will return, I'm supposed to be working with him but I have been fabricating as time permits, I 've been helping out with Project Reality although, PR has run into a Patch update kink. But I've been doing pre fabs and stuff and testing them. I will have some examples out soon, of course, when time permits. Bink was supposed to assist me as well with the config but he's been away and Durg has been busy on other stuff so I guess I'm on my own till Mark comes back.

Mark, hurry up and buy a new computer !;):D

Back to Arma1 I was using Vopsound, and I still using it on Arma2.

Chammy's sound and HiFi Novus Aevum are great too, it's clearly a matter of taste. :)
