More saving civilian do goodyness!

The Island of Porto is caught between Nato and Soviet forces with the latter cutting off all supplies and contacts with the outside world. Rumour of civilian atrocities are gaining and as the leader of the covert outfit, Shadow Company, it is your duty to infiltrate and end this embargo which seems to have ulterior motives.

Features:

- Lead a hardened Commando squad thru exotic locale

- Fastroping

- High Command multiple support units

-Quite a few surprises

- Time sensitive objective. How will you proceed? Rush in but risk your support or plan tactiaclly while fighting the clock?

- This mission takes place on Porto so of course you will need the Caa1 addon

Recommends:

VFAI mod: Really cool as it allows your AI to pick up weapons on their own as well as smoke. Saw some civilians arm themselves with pimpin gear amd form a mob!

SLX: Although just released as WIP, this mod adds all kinds of cool AI and other special effects. Does change quite a bit, but I've finished the mission with it.

JTD Fire and Smoke: Adds a ton of ambience and fire effects.

Veteran mode: Of course:D

-Removed a disruptive savegame checkpoint

-Removed a faulty radio call sign

-Dispersed civilians to give them more of a chance.

@ Njayjay -sorry you didn't like it. All feedback is welcome though a + and - of the mission is more helpful than "meh, don't like it". It helps us tighten up on areas that are lacking.

froggyluv all mission work is appreciated. Keep them coming please! Personally I didn't enjoy this as much as others because the setting doesnt suit my taste so much. Overall it was still quite nice.

very good mission so far until i take a photo of the mass grave, it says task completed for evidence and eliminate

then pops up again new task evidence, so take porto and eliminate are greened out as completed and the evidence one is greyed out ?

i restarted the mission and same thing happened again

I downloaded the mission but have some problems:

1. file name of the mission says nothing. But it's not the case

2. when starting the mission, I get "missing bb_mercenary" message.

- there is no link do download in first post

- I downloaded it from this link: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=3459 and installed

- still this message appears (I've added mod to the Arma's command line).

So, where is the problem?

I have this package installed and enabled, as it was written as required mod in first post.

it comes in directory: merc_units_fixed

Maybe it's another version or so?

It might be the updated version doesn't work with the mission. Not sure.

I used the first version of the Mercenaries addon but perhaps they are not working now. Anyone else have this problem?

Ive checked with some old version: bb_signed_desert_mercs_ARMA2_beta2.7z (144 081 639 bytes) - without success.

I have a question: Maybe your mission looks for mercenary installed in cca1/addons (instead of root of Arma2)?

This is very strange. I have tried that version of Mercs and it works no problem. I use @fastrope;@mercs;@caa1

Now I should note that I'm using anolder version of Caa1 and honestly have no idea if that has an effect on compatibility but so far, haven't heard that it does.

Can you tell me, are those Mercenaries showing up in your game via the editor?

Just tried the latest version of Mercs as well and that also works so I'm not sure what went wrong. Again, if you could check to see if the Mercs are showing in your editor, we'll know if they are being loaded correctly.

Don't know how to check if exixts in Editor, however I didn't see any new/special units with 'merc' name. Could you point me to how to check it? You can write PMs if you wish.

It's strange because I have no problems with other addons.

OK. was my fault. Installing mercenary mod, I forgot about Addons subdirectory. Stupid thing.

About mission - looks nice but seems to be too easy at begining. When aproaching the city I shot all soldiers from distance because they were walking one after another between buildings. When I reached the city, only one soldier waited for me leaning. Not too long ;)

Evidence is marked in the first city but this task has been done when I arrived small village on the north. HOwever it was most interesting part of mission by using heavy support.

For now... it looks like all tasks are accomplished but mission is still not finished. I played at 2am - so maybe I missed something.

@MaXyM -glad you finally got it working. Just tested it and it sounds like you didn't photograph the war crimes evidence. There is no insta-click on the map for evidence as it is know to be somewhere near Largo so the map won't change when you click on it. You might have gotten the "Find Evidence" order twice but it should be greyed out in the tasks bar until you photograph the evidence.

Yep, the beginning is meant to be a little easier as you want to see how many of your backup units you can save for the final battle. Part of it is luck depending on how quickly the Hit Squad kills off the group of civilians which is totally dynamic; sometimes quickly, sometimes not which gives you more time to sneak & snipe.

Edit- Also try it with the Slx mod. I find it much tougher with the AI sometimes taking house positions and the enemy AT hunt down your heavy support better. Then your just left with Abdullah's fighters and the sniper team to take the final village.

Many times the error is so clear that we can't find it (and it happens in "real life" specially)
