The DIFFERENCE between STOP and WAIT?

What is a difference between these two commands, STOP and WAIT? Is there something I am missing, or are that commands with totally identical function? I am wondering about it, cause they've been used since OFP.

I dont know 100% that there is a difference, but I believe that Wait is they will hold position and respond to threats etc, and stop is used to cease fire etc, in so far as they will basically stop any and everything that they are doing.
