ZiggyJinx 0 Posted July 20, 2009 How comes that the game is unable to run smooth in general like BF2 or other games what run at over 60fps. Not tech minded so please in laymans terms.
max power 21 Posted July 20, 2009 It is much more complicated. More sophisticated AI, more units, more realistate to render, more textures, more polies, more sophisticated shaders, more everything.

ZiggyJinx 0 Posted July 20, 2009 So does that mean hardware or software advances are needed
Liability 10 Posted July 20, 2009 Just like crysis, give the hardware 6-9 months to catch up.
ZiggyJinx 0 Posted July 20, 2009 So does that mean that arma 1 now runs very very fast with a top notch graphics card.
S7_Mega 10 Posted July 20, 2009 No but it does run alot better than it use to. Same growing pains for Arma2 as Arma1.
trickster1982 10 Posted July 20, 2009 ArmA 2 has a strange ability to look absolutely gorgeous while looking dog rough at the same time when compared to other recent games!
Taurus 20 Posted July 20, 2009 So does that mean that arma 1 now runs very very fast with a top notch graphics card. Yes most of the times. OS: Windows Vista 64 bit CPU: Intel E8500 Dual core 3.17GHz RAM: 4 GB (some brand) Graphic card: Asus ENGTX260 TOP 896 MB. Drivers: 186.18 Locked at 60 FPS with all settings set to Very High. Goes down to around 45 near large towns and forests. That's alot of polygons for your graphic card to chew on. Haven't tried with large battles with AI, just doing my regular Sahrani tour in a AH-1Z And when you compare the graphics with Arma 2 there's not much that differs. Only apparent difference being more clutters of grass and that strange looking plastic wrapping all vehicles seem to have in Arma 2.
Liability 10 Posted July 20, 2009 So does that mean that arma 1 now runs very very fast with a top notch graphics card. Have to remember, Arma 1 and 2 render double square kilometre's at a general minimum and BF and COD might render up to 4 or 6 square kilometre's at their max. Every bullet, every tracer and every leaf has physics modeling and you can see how the processing load on these games is easly 5-10 times that over your run of the mill run and gunner.
