XtremeX19 0 Posted March 15, 2002 Will OFP become the next Rainbow Six? Think about it, R6 has a large fan base (heck, i still play it, but mainly RS, not R6) and have numerous games for it. OFP seems to be following the same trend, which is a good one. RS, for example, has numerous mods and maps (for those who dont beleive me, www.piestactics.com shall prove me right). OFP also seems to be getting this kind of 3rd party support, though less of it because it is a newer game. I feel that in time, OFP will have just as large, if not a larger fanbase than the R6 series. and dont get me wrong, theyre both good games, but they concentrate on different parts of armed servises (think Delta Force vs Rangers, or other nations CT and Special Forces). Ok, im expecting to get flamed for this, though there is no reason for it, so im gonna go hide in the shadows now. Peace Out
Damage Inc 0 Posted March 15, 2002 The exception is that OFP is a better game
shataan 1 Posted March 15, 2002 what the R6 series have traditionally had over most other combat games including FP is really well designed and visually interesting multiplayer maps. The designers knew what WAS important=having the buyers playing, instead of making a gazzillion crappy multi maps and then spending valuablle gameplay time uploading to joiners. SpaceAlex 0 Posted March 15, 2002 OFp and RS are totaly different games. OFP is approximately 70% better than RS. You can't compare them anyway.
Assault (CAN) 1 Posted March 16, 2002 Besides, RedStorm has milked the R6 engine for more than its worth. They charge extra for addons and mission packs that could have and should have been there in the first place. OFP is way ahead of the R6 series and the support for it is much better, BIS is very generous. Tyler
Satchel 0 Posted March 16, 2002 You can´t compare R6/RS/UO/CO to Flashpoint, different games that play different in different environments. While R6 and all follow ups have an emphasis on CQB, fast indoor engagements based on CT, OFP is a military shooter focusing on large outdoor engagements with support of vehicles. What R6 is able to display, Flashpoint lacks, and the other way around, as said they are different games. No game takes something away from the other, neither is Flashpoint a R6 replacement nor is GR an OFP replacement. R6 is a great game and it will get even better with release of R6 "Raven Shield" that will be based on the Unreal 2 graphics engine- what that means in regards to visuals everyone can imagine, really looking forward to it. ALDEGA 0 Posted March 16, 2002 I love both games. They are different though. R6 is CQB and OF is the opposit.
John C Flett 0 Posted March 16, 2002 How about OFP becomes the new OFP. No other description is needed.
Damage Inc 0 Posted March 16, 2002 How can it become the new OFP when there is only one OFP?

JRyan 0 Posted March 16, 2002 A LOT (I'd say almost 50%) of R6 fans are OFP fans or big players... the only thing i don't like is the old R6 fans are playing the same way with OFP in MP! They shouldn't

Supah 0 Posted March 17, 2002 Ive recently started playing FireArms which is a HL mod. Its great at CQB. But when it comes to larger not built up areas it looks awfull. For instance this one map is supposed to be a forrest. Its just a corridor with wood textures on the walls and leave textures on the roof. MB in the next OFP they'll make the engine handle built up area's better .... if thats at all possible while keeping large outdoor battles possible. Id preffer to keep the latter if i had to chose
XtremeX19 0 Posted March 17, 2002 im not comparing the 2 games, im comparing how they survive and their fan bases. when i first made this, i ment the OFP being like R6 because of the fan base and follow up games. and i know they both play different styles of games.... and if u read my post carefully ud c that. wuteva, all i know is i love both games, and they both good
