Then quit believing so. It might also have something to do with ~8000 viewdistance forcing Terrain Detail to Normal.

Then that would imply setting the Terrain Detail to a lower value reduces this "lag".

I experienced a similar "mouse lag" when playing UT3 on the PS3 compared to the PC version.

My name is Bulldogs and I'm a core 2 duo + nVidia user.

I suffer no mouse lag at 30fps.

I like this table, but it would be handy to have move detailed stats on users hardware to see if we can find more commonality.

Improvements need making to your test video;

  • Mouse mat not level, you can see the ArmA 2 manual under it.
  • Drastic movement with mouse, different speeds need testing.
  • Show how mouse reacts on your desktop.
  • If USB is it running at full speed.
  • Try the based DPI.

I have no mouse lag!

2.4GHz Quad

4 GB Ram

Nvidia 8800GT 512MB

ArmA 2 settings all maxed out to Very High and Max View

OH AND PLEASE ADD TO VOTE, NO PROBLEM AS THE MODERATOR MENTIONED...

Hi HOPEnSPIRIT. Some of us suffer the mouse lag problem, but not to the extent of the video posted in this thread. Would it be possible for you to record a similar video so we can compare?

C2duo E8600 @ 4.0

4GB Gskill @ 1333

2x EVGA 9800GTX+

Copperhead mouse

1680x1050, Normal details, 2xAA, 2000 view distance, no post processing

Had some mouse lag.

Swapped vid cards out for an EVGA 295 COOP today...and:

No more mouse lag...framerates are similar (According to Fraps) but game feels 10x faster. Its like the gun in game is extension of my hand/playing counter strike or bf2.

I have an E8400 @ 3.8ghz with an ATI 4850 and I get mouselag. Kinda pisses me off. I run ArmA I just fine, never noticed anything... but this is really bad.

Q6700 overclocked to 3.6ghz, 8 gigs Ram, Nvidia 295 gtx, windows vista 64 bit. Upon installing the mouse lag was so bad I could barely hit anything, after hours of tweaking and mods its barely tolerable at any view distance.

OK, this is idiotic if even really fast PCs get the lag. And BIS keeps quiet. I say we invade the Czech Republic.

no mouse lag, rig in sig

And by the by:

I wouldn't invade there before you have fixed your mouse lag

But we have to go there fix it ourselves because BIS is doing nothing.

Leopardi how do you know what BIS developers are doing?

Which mouse (Logitech, Microsoft...) and drivers are in use and lag?

What happen if drivers are updated/reinstalled or reverted to older version - still lag?

What are the settings: mouse driver and ingame?

Is there a (official) mission where this lag can be exactly seen/reproduced?

It's not mouse/driver related because it's mouse smoothing. Rising visibility to max turns down mouse smoothing values so it's much more responsive at half the FPS than with low visibility.

How do I know what BIS developers are doing? Well clearly they don't have the slightest intent of taking a look at this issue, it's not on the list for next patch and 99,99999% sure won't be in the future.

Still zero proof of mouse smoothing and such, tbh.... I find this kind of explanation :

http://www.southwindsgames.com/blog/2009/01/15/mouse-lag-keyboard-lag-direct3d-lag/

at least equally convincing

There is 100% proof it IS mouse smoothing.

1. More FPS = smoothing effect disappears faster

2. Less FPS = smoothing effect stays longer

3. You can see smoothing. If you set a high sensitivity with low DPI, cursor doesn't move sharply skipping many pixels, but instead it moves smoothly/laggy between skipped pixels.

I read half of the pages in this thread.

Just signing that i too have mouse problems. SOMETHING is affecting mouse movement.

This is not a "clean read" of mouse movement, there are SOME filter in effect (or severe lag in the engine. one of two)

The reason some ppl who might have it, doesnt notice it is that maybe they havent played enough FPS games in the past?

I saw one person say that "Its supposed to be this way, its ArmA". Well i call bullshit on that.

Who makes a game and makes the key feature in the game (pointing your crosshair) a terrible experience? Think please..

Hope this gets sorted, makes me dreading to play the game because i miss like 90% of my shots. Not possible at all to "flick shoot" someone.

Specs:

Windows 7 x64 RC1

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400

XfX Geforce 8800gtx (186.18)

Razer Diamondback and Microsoft X8 (default windows drivers:6.1.7100.0)

Well I just had a look at the result page... I wonder if the Core2 CPUs are having the most problems, or if the Core2 is just the most commonly used CPU type?

I voted for the core 2 duo cause it's the closest to what I've got... I think.

Maybe some other people did the same.

With some tweaking I've got rid of the mouse lag bud other prob's arise.

I stopped tweaking a week ago and just wait and see what the patch improvements are...

Next patch fixes have nothing related to mouse lag... the list was out a while ago. BIS just couldn't care less about this problem.

Got not much else to do while we wait for 1.03 Patch, I will dig out my Cam and see what I can come up with.

I watch the Video again I see no latency, like I said from page 3 needs more testing as throwing the mouse around doesn't show anything.

Please give more information on what you mean by latency?
